You are weaving teh web so wonderfully Tanya..the mystery is only deepening with each of ur updates.. the FB part was so interesting...So Tara kept those documents in a safe place n found a way to tell this to Maan before she died...the present part...teh Maaneet moments were so lovely...Geet's understanding of Maan is so amazing...she even chose not to know the entire truth as it's hurting Maan to recollect those events...n maan adopted Tara's son...he's such a gem of a person...do update soon..

Hmmm..haven't started working on it,yet!! Was fooling around in IF..chilling..reading the great stuff written by very very talented people out there...(Yawns!!)guess now I've to get off my lazy butt and start writing...🥱

Maan's story

"SS..SS..Sasha..tell..Maan...key...(coughs)...Sahil..ss..ss.safe..."

I kept listening to her dying words trying hard to decipher the

hidden meanings..

Key?? which key?? The key to the locker?? Does that mean that

the documents are still safe?? But if she didn't have the

documents with her,then why was she killed?? Million questions

plagued my mind..I was going crazy!!

"Sir, what did you make out from the last part?? Did she mean that

you've to keep Sahil safe?? "

"I don't know Sasha..maybe it's as simple as that or maybe she

was trying to tell me about some 'safe' where she has kept the

documents hidden..listen to the first part..she's saying "key"

here...Uff..I'm really confused!! One more thing, why did she call

you in the first place?? When she found herself in danger,wouldn't

it have been a better choice to call me directly than calling

you,expecting you to come find me... then pass on the message..

why??? why go for such a long route??"

"Sir, I guess I have an explanation for that...may I??"

"Yes please.."

"Sir, I think the murderer must have caught her by surprise!!

wounded and in a semi conscious state,she must have pressed

the last dialed number,which happened to me mine...Sir, we had

spoken to each other an hour before she got there..My mom was

in the hospital and I was leaving for my home town..Tara had

called up to inquire about her health..I came back a couple of

days later...when I switched on the answering machine, I heard

her..." she broke down into loud sobs,unable to continue!!

"I didn't know who you were sir, so I called up Tara's parents..

They only guided me towards you. I didn't tell them anything about

this tape..How could I?? What to tell them...??? How to tell

them??"..her sobbing got worse..

"Sasha,please calm down...We'll nail that bas***d!! Trust me!!

By the way..Well done dear!! your theory is pretty plausible!!"

She smiled through her tears.. I was about to return the smile,

when suddenly a realization struck me!!

"Oh My God Sasha,Pick up the tape..let's go!! NOW!!!!"

The sudden change in my demeanor scared her!!!

"Kya hua ss..ssir??? wwhat happened???"

"Sasha ,for God's sake... hurry!!!"

Panic stricken she bent down to remove the tape and at that very

moment..."Whooosh!!!", a bullet flew over her head and hit the

wall!!!

Sasha let out a blood-curdling scream and ducked for cover as

more bullets whooshed past her...The windows shattered sending

glass fragments into the floor...

The accuracy and the precision of the rifle fire pointed only to one

aspect - a Sniper!!!

Hiding behind the couch,I took a good look at the tall building right

across Sasha's apartment..As I had anticipated,the sunlight

reflected off the rifle lens..and I spotted him!!!

"Sasha,stay put!! Don't move..there is a gunman hidden in that tall

building..he can't see you now,but if you move..he'll shoot you!!"

"Maan sir, kuch kijiye..I'm just an ordinary secretary in a firm..why

would somebody want to kill me??? Oh God,meri maa..she needs

me..I don't want to die..not before seeing her..."

"Uff Sasha relax..nobody is going to die...keep quiet and let me

think.."

"Sir.. how did you know that something was going to happen??"

"When you mentioned about Tara dialing your number...it

suddenly struck me that since her mobile was missing,the last

dialed number in her mobile would definitely lead the murderer

here!!! but I didn't expect this to happen so soon!! But this attack

gives me a faint hope Sasha...either he's eliminating all possible

witnesses or he didn't get anything important from Tara..."

"Ab kya karenge hum sir??"

"let me see what I can do..."

I tried calling Sri..his phone came up as unavailable...I called up

Sunil instead and explained the situation. He asked me to stay

safe and agreed to do the needful!! It didn't seem safe to be in that

room anymore,a slight movement from our part will make us an

easy target..I gestured Sasha to crawl towards the kitchen..Right

then,that seemed to be the safest place as it faced away from the

other building..Using the furniture as cover,we inched towards the

kitchen..The sniper might've sensed movement because soon a

hail of bullets hit the wall and the furniture around us!! We stayed

still,our hearts in our throats...

Then we heard police sirens wailing in the distance..I looked at

Sasha and we both breathed a sigh of relief!! Our ordeal had

finally come to an end!!

Police couldn't find the sniper..They promised to shift Sasha to a

safe house, where she'll be given protection, 24*7. I couldn't thank

Sunil enough for his timely help. He laughed it off but teased me

for getting into trouble all the time..well,he did agree that I made

his life very interesting and adventurous!!

The empty bullet shells were collected and send for ballistic

testing..That was just a formality,because I had already identified

the rifle as SV-98, but that was not available in India!! It was

Russian!! An unknown fear gripped my heart as the truth dawned

on me!! I was not dealing with a lone assassin..I had got myself

tangled with something much more deadly!!

Instead of going home and getting another 'lamba bhashan' from

dad, I decided to spent some time with Sahil!! He was quite happy

to see me and wanted to play football with me..He squealed in

delight when I pretended to goof up and let him hit a goal!! I

pretended to be upset and angry at his win..Poor thing couldn't

see through my terrible acting..he fell for it hook,line and sinker!!

"waaa..aaah"..I wailed like a baby..The child stood looking at me

with large ,round eyes wondering how to calm me down...He

caressed my knees, rubbed my back with his tiny hands..still not

getting the desired result,,, gave me gentle kisses wherever he

could reach..Controlling the urge to scoop my darling child up into

my arms, I sat pouting..but sensing his stillness,I turned around to

face him...His beautiful eyes were slowly filling with tears,seeing

which my heart bled...I cradled him in my arms and kissed his

tears away..I mentally kicked myself for my foolish antics..I really

needed some classes on how to deal with kids!!

"Chalo,bohot ho gaya masti!! Sahil baba look at both of us..kapde

kitne maile ho gaye...Naani dekhegi toh,bohot gussa ho

jayegi,haina?? chalo..chalo..naha lete hain..Today I'm going to

give my baby a bath,..Theek hai??"

He giggled as I slung him over my shoulder playfully!!!

Taking him to his room,I made him sit on the bed and went to get

his clothes from the wardrobe...The little one started to wriggle out

of his clothes..I couldn't help laughing seeing his cute struggle with

the T-shirt...I pulled it over his head ..I stood dumbstruck as he

turned to face me!!! Against his little chest lay a silver chain...on

which there was a silver colored key...the key to the locker!!!!
