Hearing Renuka stammering, Rishab rushed to Geet's home. Maan followed closed enough that they reached the Geet's room at the same time. What he saw there shocked him beyond bounds. Geet was flying unconscious in a pool of blood with her wrist slit from where the blood was oozing. Rishab yelled "we have to take her to the hospital now, call the ambulance Renuka." "There is no need for that, I'll take her" Maan butted in. he knelt near Geet and scooped her into his arms and rushed downstairs towards his car. He put Geet in the back bench and asked Rishab to follow behind him with the other family members behind. Renuka climbed in the back seat of Maan's car with Geet and Maan rushed to the driver's seat. In no time they were on the way towards the hospital.
The sight of Geet in blood was raising a lot of question in his mind but he dare not asked them, what if he does not like the answer. He was behaving like a coward and he knew it but he was not prepared to lose the love of his life, now that he has found her. He kept glancing at the unmoving figure of Geet on the backseat and at the frantic face of Renuka as if seeking some answers but none came his way. He was left with only his assumptions. What if Geet already had a lover and because of him that she tried to kill herself. Maybe the family members are against this relationship. "get a grip Maan", he scolded himself. "There's nothing as such" he reasoned but still he was unable to convince himself.
They reached the hospital and Geet was laid onto a stretcher before being ushered immediately into the ICU. The rest of the family members reached some 15 minutes after Geet's treatment began. Renuka had been sitting on a bench and crying her eyes out. As soon as she saw Dadima, she rushed and hugged her crying. "What is happening to my daughter, why can't god give her some happiness" she cried. "Calm down Renu, everything will be alright" Dadi reassured her. Dadi made her sit on the bench and installed herself next to Renu. Karan was like a shoulder of strength to Renu who was comforting her whereas Rishab and Vinay were awaiting the doctor to finish with her consultation. Madhuri on the other hand was bickering that they are not destined to even have a good morning because of this Geet and that she has become a nuisance nowadays. Dadi shuts her up saying that if she cannot help in sharing their sorrow then she has no right to rub salt upon their wounds.
Maan was standing in a corner taking in everyone's behaviour. Their love for Geet could be clearly seen in their worries except for madhuri who was mumbling under her breath. Maan was about to go and talk to Rishab when the doctor exited the ICU. He had a solemn expression on his face as if he had accepted defeat. A fear gripped Maan "what if something had really happened to Geet?" he thought. " I can't lose her , I have for the first time start enjoying the feeling of loving someone more than my life and I can't lose her yet. Please god, don't let anything happen to her" he prayed silently.
"How is she doctor," it was Rishab who broke the awkward silence.
"I don't know what to say. It's her 4th attempt to suicide. We have been able to save her this time as well but I wonder if we will be lucky all the time round. As your family doctor I have tried everything that was in my reach but I have never got any response to my treatment from her. She no longer has a will to live and till she does not get the will and strength to lead her life on, we cannot do anything" the doctor said giving a negative nod of his head.
"Is there nothing that we can do for her. We can't see her in this state" Renuka added.
"We have tried everything we can: counseling sessions, specialists, depression treatment, everything that is possible in the medical treatment but nothing worked. It looks like Geet has only one aim left in her life and that is to end it itself. Geet must have the will to live or someone in her life who will inspire her, fill the loneliness in her life. But I can see this is a blur idea. As far as I know Geet, she will try to again end her life till she succeeds" the doctor replied to Renuka.
He squeezed Rishab's shoulders in an encouraging act before moving towards his cabin.
