Chapter 14
Recap: Vicky tells Maan he is married and he bursts. Vicky tells Geet his love story with Anna.
Khurana Mansion.
Maan walked in to see Dadi Ma waiting for them, he walked over to take her blessings. "Bless you beta. Quickly go freshen up and bring Vicky down for dinner too. Geet should be here soon. " Maan nodded and climbed the stairs.
He stopped at Vicky's room and heard the faint sound of the piano. Vicky used to play as a teenager but what he didn't know was that his younger brother still played. He listened closely and could hear that he was playing "Lean on Me" which was one of their favourite. They had always shared a close bond and Maan promised to be there for him in his times of need. In all honesty, maan had failed as a brother, no wonder his brother couldn't tell him the truth.

He walked in quietly just as Vicky was fingering the final chords. He was so absorbed in the music that he didn't notice Maan until he placed his hand on his shoulder. Vicky quickly stumbled up from his seat..."umm BB, I didn't realize you were here." Maan saw his brother's eyes gazed with tears and the guilt pierced through his heart."I am sorry", Maan said quietly. Vicky stared at his elder brother in disbelief as he heard the word for the first time from his brother. "I am sorry Vicky, I haven't been a good brother to you. I should have been more understanding." Vicky shook his head negatively but maan continued, "If I had been a good brother to you then you would have been able to share your problems with me. I promised to stand by you in everything but I left you stranded somewhere along the way." With tears in his eyes, unable to utter a word , Vicky pulled his brother into a bear hug. Maan wiped his tears, "come on buddy, won't you tell me about the beautiful girl who made my Casanova brother fall in love." Vicky laughed as he told the same story twice in one day. At the end of it maan said, "so here is how we bring Anna home"
A long while later, Vicky and Maan walked down with Maan's around Vicky's shoulder. Geet breathed a sigh of relief as she saw the brothers laughing over some joke. Maan caught Geet eyes, smiled and nodded to let her know that all was well. "So finally you two made it, we got tired of waiting and even the food has gotten cold. Geet beta, could you ask Nakul to heat up the food?" "Sorry", both Maan and Vicky said in unison and then looked at one another with a smile. While in the kitchen, geet got a text from maan

Geet, during dinner, we are going to tell Dadi about Anna but tweeted a little. Just pretend like you don't anything. I promise to fill you in later.

Geet sent him a quick okay before going back to the dining table. There, she saw Vicky and Maan talking to each other in signals. Oh Babaji, help Dadi ma today, who knows what these two devils are planning today, she thought. Once everyone started dinner, Vicky nudged Maan to start the conversation. "Umm, Dadi Ma, I was thinking now that Vicky is back; he should join Khurana Constructions and start taking responsibilities." Dadi nodded, "You are right Maan beta, Vicky should start thinking about his responsibilities." Vicky gave Maan what-the-hell look, Maan nodded and went forward, "you know Dadi ma, I was thinking he will learn his responsibility if he has someone to take care for. You know...maybe we should get him married." Dadi laughed and Geet looked confused as she looked from one brother to the other. "Maan beta, firstly, you need to get married before him...and secondly you are planning to get the India's biggest flirt married, no girl will say yes to him even if we all tried." Vicky wasn't offended by D's words; he had to put the flirt act on so people would think exactly what Dadi thought. Maan wasn't defeated that easily, "What if I tell you that I found a girl already?" Dadi looked up surprised, "really now? Is that so? May I know her name?" Finally some progression, Maan thought. "But Dadi Ma, you have to promise to listen to everything before you say anything. Dadi felt something fishy cooking but she nodded.
"Well...the thing is that...that Vicky loves a girl already and wants to marry her. Her name is Annabelle and they both did their MBA together in the States." Dadi stared at both her grandsons in disbelief and looked at Geet who looked equally confused. "Vicky, is this true?" Vicky finally looked up from his plate and nodded. Dadi shook her head, "I can't believe it, my grandson is in love with some foreigner and he doesn't even bother to tell me." Maan reached over to hold and calm her down, "Please Dadi Ma, I knew about this before. Vicky told me everything and I had told him we would tell you when the time was right. Please Dadi Ma, say yes. Trust me , you will love Annabelle, she is the sweetest girl ever. And don't you want your grandsons to be happy?", Maan tried all the cards he had in his deck. "You have met her before?" "Umm..yes Dadi..she came to India with Vicky. She really wants to be a part of this family. Please Dadi, at least meet her once, you will love her." Dadi thought about it, All she wanted at this age was for her grandsons to be happy. So she agreed to meet Annabelle tomorrow before going to her room.
Both the brothers looked at one another with the biggest grin; high fived each other and hugged. "Thank you BB, thank you so much. I can't believe you lied so much for the first time in your life.. I love you." Maan smiled, "I love you too buddy" "Umm..hello..rememeber me, anybody want to fill me in?" Geet said from behind. The brothers finally noticed Geet, "Oh sorry Geet." "Ok BB will fill you in. I have to call Anna and tell her. She is going to be so happy." With that, Vicky dashed upstairs to call his wife.
Maan laced his fingers with geet's to walk to the outhouse and to fill her in. "So Annabelle is suppose to be Vicky's love but they are not married. They will be married in Khurana style. We don't need to hurt Dadi ma's feelings, she doesn't need to know that Vicky was already married. Satisfied with Maan's plan, she gave him thumbs up for his smart thinking. While walking, Geet's thoughts wandered back to her own problems, the stupid stalker invaded her thoughts and she wondered how she would tell Maan. But she didn't want problems in Vicky and Anna's wedding. Maan noticed her quietness and faraway look. Here he was for a change rambling on and on about the wedding plans because he knew Dadi ma would say yes but she wasn't saying anything back. He squeezed her hand, "Is everything okay geet?" You suddenly became so quiet." "I am fine, just tired, it's been a long day." "Come on, I will make you some tea and you will feel better." Geet nodded as maan guided her to the outhouse.
Once in the outhouse, Maan was about to walk off to the kitchen when Geet held him back and walked to the sofa instead. She sat in his lap and cocooned close to him with her arms around his neck as she held the fear in heart. Maan ran his fingers through her hair thinking that she was tired but wanted to be with him as they spent the entire day apart. Geet felt confused about what she should do next. She needed to tell Maan, there was no doubt about that but she wanted him to enjoy Vicky's wedding.
Soon with the warmth of Maan's embrace despite the tension she felt, Geet had fallen asleep peacefully. Maan was about to carry her to her room when his phone started ringing. He placed her softly on the sofa covering her with a blanket before going off to the other room to take the call.
She snuggled closer to the blanket when suddenly the warmth she felt earlier vanished. Geet rubbed her eyes slowly as she realized she was still on the couch but no longer in Maan's arms. She wondered why Maan didn't carry her to her room but then she heard him talking in a low tone.
Just then, her phone started ringing and there was no caller ID. Fear clutched her as she thought it was same person calling her again. She picked up the phone because she didn't want Maan walking in. "Hello", she said slowly. "Oh, sleeping in your lover's arms. What a pleasure that must be. Don't worry Handa, you are soon going to be sleeping in my arms.", the deep voice promised. Geet looked around in panic and opened her mouth to call Maan but his voice stopped him, "Oh I wouldn't do that Handa. If your Maan finds out about me then I will have no choice but to kill him off. And trust me, he will be gone before you can even blink.
Her heart picked up speed wondering how he knew what they were doing unless...unless he was here !! Tears rolled down her cheeks, she felt so helpless. He laughed and hang up.
"Maan, Maan, Maan !!", geet screamed. Maan came rushing back when he saw her eyes flooding with tears and body shaking with fear thinking she had a nightmare. He pulled her into his embrace, wiped her tears which kept coming back as he consoled, "Shhh...it's ok..Misiti...I am here..look at me..I am here. Everything is ok, Look your maan is here." Geet refused to quiet down, "N---noo maan, there is someone here," she said pointing to the door. "No Geet, there is no one except you and me" Geet shook her head as she held his arms in a death grip. "Look, you stay here and I will go check." That caused Geet to hold him even tighter. "No please Maan, don't leave me. Please." Maan cupped her face as he wiped fresh tears with his thumb pads, "I am here Geet. I am never going to let anything happen to you. Do you trust me?" Geet nodded slightly as Maan dropped a gentle kiss on her forehead before checking all the doors and windows. He called the main house security to check all the premises.
Geet dratted her eyes from her phone to the one end of the room to another thinking the man could be anywhere and he could easily harm her Maan. Her phone started ringing again and geet refused to look at it knowing it was the same man. In fear, she kept walking backwards away from the phone until she suddenly hit the their huge engagement picture that was hanging on the wall. The picture violently came crashing down shattering into the pieces. She placed her hand on her mouth in shock as tears effulged her once again. A frame breaking was an inauspicious sign and the picture was of them. She bent to pick up the broken frame just as Maan yelled Geet from the back. Geet whipped her head around and in the process a huge glass piece sliced right through her entire hand from her index finger to her wrist. She grabbed her wrist in pain as she bleed non-stop. "Geet!", he yelled in panic. Maan ran to her and quickly wrapped her hand in his hanky. Soon enough, the hanky soaked through in blood and started dripping because the cut was too big and deep. "Oh God, this blood is not stopping. I need to get you to the hospital." Geet shook her head as she gripped his waist with her bloody hands., "No Maan, I am not leaving you." Maan quickly pulled the tablecloth off the table, sat her in his lap as he tried to wrap the cloth as tight as possible. His heart squeezed in pain when he saw her eyes fill up with tears from the pain. He called the doctor, "Doctor Sharma, Maan Singh Khurana here, there is emergency at the Khurana outhouse. I need you to come right away, as soon as possible." With waiting for a reply, he slammed his phone shut and turned his attention back to geet who was losing consciousness. He looked at the tablecloth, which was becoming red at a fast pace. He tried to keep her awake but she soon fainted. He prayed the Doctor would hurry.
Within minutes the doctor rushed in, and Maan carried Geet to the sofa. One look at geet's hand told him it was serious. The cut was extremely large and much deeper than a safe cut would be. "Mr. Khurana, she should be in a hospital but she has lost too much blood that we don't have time." Maan couldn't bear the pain his love was going through. "I need to stitch her hand right here but I don't have the materials to give her anesthesia." Maan had to think fast, "Ok Doctor, give her stitches. I will handle her if she wakes up." "But Mr.Khurana she is going to be in a lot of pain." Maan nodded painfully. Doctor prepared to give her stitches and as the needle pierced through her skin, Geet was startled awake as a fresh wave of pain hit her "Maan", she cried in agony as she tried to free her hands. Maan quickly held her shoulders and the doctor held her hand. He kissed her forehead and cheeks, forcing her to look into his eyes as he tried to absorb her pain.
After the torturous ordeal, the doctor gave her a sedative to help her sleep. He told Maan that she would be okay despite the fact that it could have been much more serious but since she had lost a lot of blood, she needed to eat healthy for a few days with vitamins and rest fully. She was not to use her right hand at all. The dressing needed to change every few hours and he gave painkillers for the pain. He reassured Maan that he would be back tomorrow to check on her.
