'Dadi suna aapnay, usnay mujhe golu kaha' Main aapko golu lagthi hun?.
Said niveditha looking down at her stomach and then turning her head towards the side trying to get a glimpse of her behind.
Dadi laughed at her anxiousness
'Nivi, voh thumhay tang ker raha tha'
she said moving towards the kitchen counter and then opening up the pot's lid.
'kushboo bohot achi aa rhai hai. Chalo abhi jaldi sey rotiyan sekh dethay hain , vi..aaamm voh atha hi hoga'
Naintara almost had given away the secret.
Viren entered into the sood mansion and saw vandana standing besides the dining table waiting for him.
'aja beta. khana lag gaya hai'
'tayiji, are.. voh dadi nay humay khanay per bulaya hai'
'ammaji nay? is waqt?'
asked Vandana surprised
'han! main isiliye tho aa gaya, aapko le janay ke liye'
Said viren dragging Vandana's hand
'beta! phir ye khana?'
'don't worry tayiji, meri personality dekhi hai aapnay? 2 ghantay main
phir bhook lag jayegi. Meray hothay hue aapka khana kabhi waste nahi
jaayega !'
smiled viren as he patted his arm muscles
'NANDU! oye! idhar aa'
shouted viren
'sun, ye sabh fridge main rakh do, hum abhi aathay hain'
Said viren dragging Vandana once again
'dheeray!'
'chaliye naa... niveditha intezaar ker rahi hai'
Vandana looked at viren's enthusiasm and smiled.
At Sharma residence
'aao vandana baito'
said naintara inviting Vandana and Viren in
'Dadi, main tayiji ko bhi le aya'
said viren in a slightly hushed tone so that vandana does not hear him.
'beta, bohot acha kiya thumnay. aaj thumhari vajay sey kithnay saalon kay baad vandana humaray saath khana khayegi'
said naintara reminiscing about the past, remembering bhuban, vandana, nirmala and keshav sitting together and eating.
'mmmmmm, wow! dadi jaldi kijiye. Pait main chuhain koodh rahe hain'
'niveditha kahan hain? kitchen main'
asked viren
Naintara nodded
Viren went into the kitchen leaving Vandana and Naintara behind chatting on their dining table
'main koi madad karun?'
asked viren , looking at niveditha who was carrying a jug of water and a heavy box in both her hands
'han please '
she said allowing him to take either one of the items
Viren looked at her carefully and took a piece of cloth that tightly clung on to her pinky finger.
Niveditah glared at him
'thanks a lot!' she said sarcastically
'Don't mention it' said viren smiling
There was clutter of spoons and forks on the plates. Vandana, Viren, Naintara and Niveditha were enjoying their Dinner.
'vakay nivi, bohot acha khana banaya hain' said Vandana
'mmm , han, main bhi hairaan hun. waise acha hai ki thumhay khana banana atha hai. Mujhe bilkul bhi nahi aatha'
said
Viren in a matter of fact tone. He did not realize that he had said
something that might cause people around him to raise eyebrows
Vandana looked at naintara
'kya matlab hai thumhara'
she asked curiously
Viren looked at her confused and it was a second before he realized what he had said.
He looked at niveditha who was looking down and silently eating her food.
'kya matlab- ki kya matlab? … oh... han yahi na... ki acha hai ki use
khana banana atha hai. aur han mujhe tho khana banana nahi aatha. abh
ismay matlab na samaj nay wali tho koi baat nahi'
he said in a careless tone
'oo. acha'
laughed vandana
'lekin pata hai aapko, meri jo bhi biwi hogi na. BOHOTTT lucky hogi'
continued viren
Naintara and vandana looked at him.
Viren
looked up and saw that Niveditha was still ignoring his talk and
eating. Though he did feel that her eyes were upon him a moment before.
'voh kaise'
asked Naintara
'kiyunki , main khana tho bana nahi saktha lekin, plates bohot acha dho letha hun. squeeky clean!' said Viren
'Thum aur saaf'
laughed vandana
'pata hai ammaji, bachpan main sabsey nakhrela tho yahi hotha tha. Yaad
hai aapko, Nahanay ke liye jab bhi bulathay thay, aapkay ghar aaker
chup jatha tha' said Vandana laughing
Viren looked up shocked and saw that Niveditha was glaring at him.
'maine tho socha tha ki ye bohot saaf suthra aur shareef tha chachiji'
said Niveditha confused
Perhaps
when he was three years old, sidharth was naughty and troublesome and
later he turned out to be very obedient? then again look at him today,
he has taken a complete U-Turn. His three year old genes were probably
acting up now. She thought to herself.
'kya?'
asked Vandana confused
'Mujhe ek aur roti chahiye. Niveditha hot-pot pass ker do please'
said viren trying to change the subject
'aur han mujhe khanay kay baad chai peenay ki adat hai'
said viren out loud
'Aisa nahi kehthay'
said Vandana in a hushed tone
'are, jo adat hai so hai-
'chachi ji main abhi chai charanay wali thi'
said niveditha getting up and going into the kitchen.
'main madad ker dethi hun'
said Vandana picking up plates
'no tayiji main le jaunga-
said viren taking the plates from her hands.
viren put the plates in the kitchen and started to wash them.
' chodo sidharth, main ker lungi. thum jao aur baito'
said niveditha holding viren's hands and stopping him from washing.
Viren saw her hands on top of his, which now had some soapy lather on them.
Niveditha looked at him smiling, looking at her hands. She quickly took them away
' maine kaha tha na, ki main bohot acha dishes wash ker saktha hun. Abh kaha hai tho prove kerna tho padega na'
said viren with a child-like innocense
Niveditha smiled and turned away.
She continued to put away things, furtively throwing glances at viren, who was busy washing and cleaning up.
'Niveditha, thumhay bura laga na'
'kis baat ka?'
'boy friend wali baat ka'?
asked Viren
He had finished washing the dishes and was wiping his hands on a towel, waiting for her response.
Nivedita did not say anything. She did not know what to answer. The answer was no but she was afraid of what might come next
'bura laga tha lekin-
'lekin?'
asked viren
'pata nahi, abh nahi lag raha hai'
said Niveditha honestly
Viren smiled at her satisfied
'thanks'
They
looked at each other for next 5 seconds and it was nivedita who had
come back to her senses. She looked away and started to wipe the
counter
Viren moved closer to her.
Niveditha felt his presence besides him. Her heart started to beat faster.
She did not want to be near him at the same time her heart longed for his company.
She
had guessed what he felt and probably she felt the same way, but she
was not sure of them. It was there in her heart, those feelings , but
their reality had to yet hit her.
'Niveditha-
said Viren, now facing her and looking deeply in her eyes
' I think I am falling in love with you'
Niveditha's heart must have skipped several beats , hearing those words coming out of his mouth
'mujhe pata hai, ki thum soch rahi hogi, ki aaj hi mila hai aur aaj hi ithni badi baat keh dali?.
said Viren looking serious
'lekin, mujhe nahi pata , main apnay aap ko rokh nahi paa raha hun'
'mera dil kertha hai ki thum meray paas raho, aur main thumharay paas'
'dil kertha hai thumhari batain sunta rahun aur thumhay dekhta rahun'
'I just want to be with you. always.'
niveditha looked at him. Unable to speak. Stunned
'sorry niveditha, Main thumhay uncomfortable nahi feel kerana chahtha tha. Lekin yahi sach hai'
Viren smiled at her and left the kitchen.
