Chapter 21

Gopi ran downstairs and told the news to the other members of the family. Everyone was very excited to hear that everything was okay and quickly got back to work. There was still a lot of work to be done before the wedding later that night. Rahul had already reached home and explained to his family the news. They were thrilled with the new development as they already loved Kamya. There wouldn't be too many guests from the groom's side as it was such late notice, but his immediate family would be there. Gopi rushed to her room to get ready. She still had to get the dulhan ready as well. She put the blouse to her sari on and as she reached to tie the string her hand couldn't reach. She struggled again before feeling familiar hands on hers. She slowly pulled her hands down and closed her eyes. She knew exactly who those hands belonged to. Ahem reached over and tied her blouse into place. His hands graced the skin on her back as he did it sent shivers down Gopi's spine. Her skin felt so soft. Ahem looked up in the mirror and noticed Gopi's eyes were still closed. He bent down and whispered in her ear.

"Bas Gopi ho gaya. Aab tho ankhee kolo." (Okay Gopi it's done. Open your eyes now) Ahem bent down and placed a soft kiss on her shoulder and Gopi blushed. She opened her eyes and ran into the bathroom to finish dressing. Ahem smiled at the direction his wife had just ran off into and slowly walked out of the room. She finished putting her sari on and looked over in the mirror to see that everything was in place. Her eyes were twinkling and her face had a new glow. She had never been this happy before. She had the love of her husband. She had a family that loved her. She had two fantastic friends that were just about to get married. She couldn't ask for anything else in the world. She quickly applied her makeup and put her jewelry on. She came out of the bathroom and was completely puzzled as to what to do with her hair. Should she leave it down or put it up? "You look beautiful with your hair down Gopi. Leave it down." She turned towards the voice at the doorway and noticed Ahem standing there admiring her.

"Aapko kaise pata mein kya soch rahi thi." (How do you know what I was thinking?)

"Mujhe sab pata hai."(I know everything). Ahem slowly made his way towards Gopi and pulled the clip out of her hair and let it naturally fall into place. "Aab sab theek hai. Meri pyari si Pari. Bahut sundar lag rahi ho." (Everything is wonderful now. My beautiful fairy. You look beautiful.) Ahem turned her around so she was facing him. Gopi smiled and blushed. She turned to walk away, but Ahem grabbed her hand and pulled her back towards him. "Abhi nahi. Mujhe meri pari ko kuch waqt aur dekhne do."(Not now. I want to look at my fairy for a little bit) He grabbed her chin and slowly moved her head up so she was looking into his eyes. Gopi saw the love radiating back from his eyes. She buried her face into his chest and blushed. Ahem laughed and wrapped his arms around her tightly. He wished they could stay like this forever. Gopi tried to get out of the embrace, but Ahem would not let her go.

"Bas ab bahut ho gaya. Mujhe jane do. (Okay enough. Let me go) I have to get Kamya ready. It's her wedding day." Ahem was not budging. "Ahemji." Gopi slowly put her mouth on his arm and bit down. He screamed in pain and she quickly slipped out of his embrace. She looked back to see him shaking his arm. She ran back towards him and grabbed his arm. "Hey Kanaji. Aapko lagi tho nahi. Dikhao mujhe." (Are you hurt? Show me.) Gopi grabbed his arm and began to blow on the spot where she had bit down. She slowly looked up to see him smiling. She pouted and threw his arm down. "Aapko mazak suj raha hai. Jao mein aapse baat hi nahi karti." (You're playing around. Go, I'm not talking to you) Gopi folded her arms across her chest and pouted. Ahem looked over and put his arm on her shoulder. Gopi nudged it off.

"Acha Baba sorry. Lo maine kaan pakad liya." (okay sorry. Here I'm grabbing my ears) Gopi looked over and smiled at him.

"Acha mein Kamya ke paas ja rahi hoon. (Okay I am going to Kamya's room) You should go downstairs and see if Maaji needs any help." Gopi smiled one last time and made her way towards Kamya's room. She walked in and noticed Kinjal already there doing Kamya's hair. Kamya looked happy and smiled over at Gopi.

"My wonderful friend, you're getting married today! Tum kush toh ho na?" (You are happy right?)

"Mein bahut kush hu. Akhir end mein sab theek ho gaya. Rahul bahut hi acha insaan hai."(I am very happy. Everything turned out all right. Rahul is a good man) Gopi walked over and hugged Kamya.

"Arre Kinjal aaj hum Kamya ko bahut hi ache se saja na hai.(Kinjal today we are going to dress Kamya up very well) Kamya you are doing to be the most beautiful bride ever." Gopi went over and grabbed her jewelry and began putting it on her as Kinjal finished her hair. Kamya then placed the final touches of her makeup on. Gopi went over and slowly placed the gungat on her head and looked at Kamya in the mirror as she whistled. She hugged Kamya from the back.

"Kamya you look beautiful." Malini walked in and looked at her daughter in awe. She walked over to her with tears in her eyes.

"Meri bachi ko kisiki nazar na lage." (I don't want anyone's evil eye to fall on my daughter). Gopi and Kinjal slowly walked out of the room so that the mother and daughter could have their moment. Kinjal looked over at her bhabhi and smiled.

"Bhabhi aaj aap bahut sundar lag rahi ho. Kya Ahem Bhai ne dekha aapko."(Bhabhi you look gorgeous today. Has Ahem Bhai seen you?) Kinjal nudged Gopi's shoulder and smiled. Gopi blushed and Kinjal laughed. Together they slowly made their way downstairs. Ahem was at the bottom talking to Jigar when he noticed Gopi coming down the stairs. He looked over at her and just stared. He was so lost in Gopi that he didn't hear Jigar calling his name.

"Ahem Bhai." Jigar elbowed him to get his attention. "Yes, we all know Gopi Bhabhi looks pretty now can you please join us back on this planet." The others around him laughed and Ahem chased Jigar. "Sorry Bhai sorry." Jigar ran and hid behind Gopi. "Dekho na Bhabhi Ahem Bhai ko." (Look what Ahem Bhai is doing Bhabhi)

"Gopi ke piche chup tha hai. Abhi kabar leta hoon tera." (You're hiding behind Gopi huh. Wait there I'll deal with you).

"Aap mere devarji ko kyon saata rahe ho?" (Why are you teasing my brother-in-law?) Gopi put her hands on her hips and questioned Ahem.

"Tum bhi unka saath deh rahi ho." (You're taking his side too?)

"Haan. Aap mere devar ko chodye." (YES now leave him alone). Kokila and Hetal looked over at the family masti and laughed. It was good to see them all smiling again. Meanwhile Jigar stuck his tongue out at Ahem and Ahem sulked away.

"Thank you Bhabhi." Gopi smiled at Jigar before going to get her blessings from the elders. She then made her way to her Baba's room to check up on him.

"Arre wah meri beti bahut sundar lag rahi hai aaj aur bahut hi khush bhi." (My daughter looks fantastic today and really happy as well).

"Thank you Baba. Haan mein bahut kush hu. (Yes, I am very happy). How are you feeling Baba?"

"I feel fantastic all because of my wonderful daughter and son-in-law." At the mention of Ahem's name Gopi began to tear up. "Yes, I have forgiven your Ahem because he makes my beautiful daughter happy. He brought her smile back and that is all I ever wanted. If he ever hurts you though…" Gopi went and hugged her Baba.

"Thank you Baba. I love you."

"Baas aab chalo.(Okay now let's go) Kamya is getting married and we can't miss that now can we?" Gopi shook her head and they walked out into the living room.

So what is the wedding going to be like? Will it go over smoothly or will someone come and try to stop it?
