Chapter 20

Ahem watched the love of his life walk out the door. Her words had pierced his heart so badly and nothing would stop it from bleeding. The women were all gathered in Kamya's room trying to console her. Her biggest day had turned into her biggest nightmare. What were they going to do now? How were they going to save their reputation? Kamya was crying on the floor and Kinjal was trying to get her to stop.

"Kamya we are all lucky that we found out about Umaang before you took the saath pheres. Do you really want to be stuck with a guy like that for the rest of your life?" No one knew what was going to happen. The guests would all begin to arrive. What would they say to them? Ahem looked at the ladies and sadly walked into his room. He wanted to be with Gopi right now, but she hated him. Vijay, Jigar, Chirag, Parag, Rahul, and Elesh had all gone to the hospital with Gopi for Sanjeev. The still hadn't received any word about how he was or what had happened to him. He really hoped that Sanjeev was okay. He walked to his bed and broke down on the floor.

Gopi paced the floor of the waiting room. She wanted the doctor to come out already and tell her what was wrong with Sanjeev. Rahul gave her a cup. "Here Gopi please drink this. It will make you feel better." She didn't want anything. She just wanted to know what was wrong with her father. She reluctantly took the cup and sipped. The hot liquid did make her throat feel better after all of the screaming. Suddenly she saw a flash of the white coat and she ran towards him.

"How is Baba? What's wrong with him? He's going to be okay right?" Gopi bombarded him with questions. Rahul calmed her down and asked the doctor how Sanjeev was.

"Listen, this is the second attack that Sanjeev has gotten within a month and that is definitely not good for his heatlh. His reports show a really high amount of sugar in his system. I had already warned you earlier that he shouldn't be eating any sweets." Gopi looked over at the doctor confused. She knew for a fact that her Baba had not eaten anything sweet. She made sure of it. It was probably Umaang and Anita. They had probably spiked something into his food or drink. Just thinking about it made Gopi's blood boil. She wouldn't spare them. "He's is resting right now. We must keep him here for the next couple of days under really close observation. You guys all need to go home right now. There are to be no more visitors for the rest of the night. You can come back in the morning."

"No doctor I will stay with Baba."

"Sorry Gopi, but you cannot. You won't be of any help to him right now and you need your rest too. You can come back first thing in the morning. We have already placed two guards outside of his room on Mr. Modi's insistence and have made sure that no one besides these people present on the list can get through to the patient. I assure you everything will be fine, now please go and take care of yourself. You won't be any help to your Baba if you fall ill as well." Gopi looked up at the doctor and went home with everyone else. Vijay, Chirag, and Parag insisted on staying and so they were allowed to stay for Sanjeev's safety. They would take turns watching the guards. The others went home to a quiet and dark house. It was quite late and so everyone went off to bed. Gopi walked into her room with a heavy heart. Her Baba was fighting for his life and Kamya's big day was ruined. She fell onto the bed and cried. She thought about the incidents of the night. She got up and walked towards the door. She needed him to protect her right now. She walked into Ahem's room without knocking and couldn't find him. She looked around the whole house and couldn't find him anywhere. She knew she had said some mean things to him out of anger, but she hadn't meant them. She couldn't lose him as well she just couldn't. She ran towards the kitchen with tears streaming down her face. First her Baba and now her husband. She couldn't console herself. She just wanted her husband right now. She just needed her Ahemji, no one else. She walked back upstairs and ran into Rahul and Jigar.

"Gopi what's wrong. Please stop crying. Sanjeev sir is going to be all right." Rahul went towards Gopi to comfort her. His heart broke seeing her like this. Gopi looked up at the two gentleman, but they weren't who she hoped they were. She quickly broke away from them before Rahul could come any closer. She didn't want his comfort. She wanted Ahem. She looked up at Jigar.

"Ji woh mein ji woh. Mujhe nahi woh." They couldn't understand her with her broken words in between her sobs. Jigar got scared and went to get his mom and aunt. Koki and Hetal rushed into Gopi's room.

"Gopi beta kya hain. Do you need something? Don't worry beta nothing is going to happen to your Baba." Hetal and Koki sat down next to her to try and comfort her, but Gopi sat there still sobbing. She didn't want to see them right now. Hetal and Koki looked at each other and didn't know what to do. They had seen her cry before, but never like this.

"Jigar beta go and get Ahem. He's in the garden. Maybe she'll calm down then." At the sound of Ahem's name Gopi's head shot up and she ran out the door of her room towards the garden. Jigar looked back at his mom. "Usse bass Ahem ki zarurat thi. She will be fine now." Rahul looked down and slowly made his way to his room and so did the other members. It had been a long night and they all needed their rest.

Gopi ran outside into the garden and found him standing up looking at the stars. She ran towards him and hugged his back. She buried her face into his back and held on. Ahem was surprised on seeing Gopi there. He turned his face down towards her and saw her face. She looked so sad, so defeated. He wished he could make it all better. He turned around and Gopi buried her face in his chest. Her sobs slowly dwindled before finally stopping.

"Mujhe maaf kardo. Meine gusse mein bahot bura kaha aap se. Baas Baba ko kuch nahi hona chaye." She cried her heart out in his arms. She felt safe there and her heart felt lighter. "Please aap mujhe vaada karye ke aap mujhe chode ke kabhi nahi jayenge kabhi nahi." Ahem looked down at her grabbed her face and slowly wiped her tears.

"Mein kahi nahi ja raha ho Gopi. Mein yahein tere paas hi hoon. And stop all this crying now. Baba is going to be all right and as far as Umaang and Anita go you and I will take care of them. I promise you I won't spare them for what they did. I have my wife's love and support and that is all I need. Ab chalo. You need some sleep right now. We have to get up early and go back to the hospital now don't we." Gopi stood in place holding onto Ahem. Ahem slid his hand down to her knees and picked her up and carried her into her bedroom. He placed her on the bed and pulled the covers over her. He didn't know when she had fallen asleep in his arms. He bent down and lightly kissed her forehead before beginning to walk back into his room. Before he could get very far he felt something pulling on his hand. He looked down to see Gopi holding onto it.

"Nahi. Aap ne kaha tha ke aap mujhe chod kar kahi nahi ja rahe. Aap ko yahein rehna hoga." She pulled him towards the bed and Ahem slid into the spot next to her. Gopi turned to face him and grabbed his arm and put it around her. She wanted to feel safe. She slept with her head on his chest and he held onto her. She quickly fell asleep in her husband's embrace and he looked down and his peaceful wife. He finally fell asleep looking at her beautiful face. Ahem woke up with the sun on his face. He felt Gopi stirring, but she didn't wake up. She held on to him tighter and hid her face into his chest from the sun. He smiled down at his wife and realized that it wasn't a dream. His Gopi was here with him in his arms. He didn't want to get up so early. This was the first morning with his wife and he wanted to cherish it. He closed his eyes and went back to sleep. About an hour later Ahem realized that everyone else in the house was probably up and they should get up too. He looked down at his peaceful wife still deep in slumber and didn't have the heart to wake her. She had had an emotionally draining night, but he knew she would get mad at herself if she slept in any later. He whispered softly into her ear to wake up.

"Gopi subha ho gayi. Utt jao." He felt her stir and grab him tighter.

"Nahi mujhe sone do. Mujhe yaha bahut acha lag raha he." (No let me sleep. I really like it here). He chuckled at his wife as she scrunched her nose. Ahem slowly pulled himself away from her embrace and her eyes began to slowly open. She looked up at Ahem smiling down at her and she quickly turned the other way her cheeks turning pink in the process. She thought she had been dreaming. She quickly slipped out of bed and realized she needed to get to the hospital soon. Sanjeev would probably be waking up soon and she wanted to be there. She quickly showered and dressed and went downstairs followed closely by Ahem. She realized that they really were late as everyone was already up and eating breakfast. She looked around and was surprised that the men had come back from the hospital and the guards were there as well. She looked over at Ahem in confusion and Ahem nodded for her not to worry.

"Yeh sab maine kiya hai Gopi. Baba abhi kamre mein hoge. I have hired a doctor and nurse to be here 24/7 to look over Baba so that he can stay right here at home with you. The doctor says he is out of danger now, but he just needs to be monitored and we can all do that at home. He will be much safer here as well." Gopi looked over at her husband with tears in her eyes. He was taking care of her so nicely after all the harsh things she had said to him yesterday. He leaned down and whispered in her ear. "I know what you are thinking Gopi and don't even think about what happened yesterday as I have already forgotten it. I know you were just upset. I forgot everything the moment you came to me for comfort last night." He flashed her a quick smile before going down to eat breakfast. Gopi looked around at all the glum faces and realized that Kamya was not there. She knew she was upset and so she slowly climbed upstairs towards Kamya's room. She stopped at the door when she heard voices coming from inside.

"Kamya I know that we don't love each other, but they say that every great love story starts with friendship. We are friends right? Trust me this is the only way to save your family's reputation."

"But Rahul you love someone else. How can you sacrifice so much for me?"

"I'm not sacrificing anything Kamya. The person I love can never be mine and I have accepted that. You didn't know Umaang and you were going to marry him. You know me. We care about each other a lot as friends. Everything is all set. The guests will be arriving soon. Your parents are okay with this and my parents love you." Kamya nodded and hugged Rahul. Gopi wiped her tears away. She always knew Rahul was a good man and today he has proven exactly how kind he really is. Gopi knocked on the door and walked in. She ran over and hugged them.

"I'm really happy for you guys. I know you guys will make a great couple. Rahul you truly are an honorable man." Gopi had tears of happiness in her eyes. Her two best-friends were going to get married today. She couldn't be happier.

So will Rahul and Kamya get married or do Umaang and Anita have something else up their sleeve??? Let me know what you guys thought. Good bad!

Yay! An update! And a good one to boot! So glad Gohem worked things out. Wish they would in the show.😆 Can you imagine Gopi running to Aham's arms in the show and him hugging her back? The SNS forum dispensary would be open for weeks!
