Chapter 19

Ahem stopped in his tracks and turned around. No he wanted to hear it from Gopi's mouth. He wanted her to say that she loved someone else. He looked over at Gopi and waited, but still he got no answer. Now he was getting mad. He could feel the anger rising within himself.

"Are you just going to sit there or are you going to answer my question?" Before he could stop himself he had already blurted it out. He saw the look of content quickly turn into fear and then anger.

"Who do you think you are? You have no right to ask me anything. And don't you dare turn this around on me. You ruined this relationship not me. Not only do I not have to answer your question, but I also don't have to sit here and listen to you. And even if I did love Rahul, it doesn't concern you now does it. It's my life now. I don't have to share anything with you." Gopi was crying at this point and wiped at her tears but she couldn't stop them from falling. Ahem silently yelled at himself. He was doing it again. He was making his Gopi cry when he wanted to make her smile and laugh. Before Gopi could run off he grabbed her hand and slowly pulled her towards him. She ran into him and he grabbed her waist. Her face was inches from his and she couldn't look him in the eyes. With his free hand he grabbed her chin and made her look into his eyes. He slowly wiped away her tears.

"I'm sorry. The last thing I wanted was to make you cry. I want you to be happy and if Rahul is your happiness then I will accept it fully. Anita toh meri zindagi ki sabse badi bhool thi. Mom theek keh rahi thee. Tum hi meri saathiya hoh sirf tum. Jo mere dil meh ehsaas hai abhi tumare liye woh meh keh bhi nahi saktha. (Anita was the biggest mistake of my life. Mom was right. Only you are my life-partner. I can't even describe what I feel for you.) I have never wanted or prayed for someone else's happiness besides my moms. Even with Anita I never thought about her happiness or her feelings. I only ever thought about me and my feelings. I thought I loved her so that's all that mattered. With you I feel completely opposite. I want you to have all the happiness in the world Gopi, even if it's not with me. If Rahul is your happiness then I will do everything in my power to make sure you attain that happiness. I just want to know what's in your heart Gopi." Gopi looked into his eyes and saw the love he harbored for her for the first time. She could feel his pain. He thought she loved someone else and she could see in his eyes how much it hurt him. She saw the tears, but she also saw the concern. She knew he would do anything and everything to keep her happy and that made her heart fill with even more love. Her Ahemji loved her. He was hers and only hers. She didn't want to say anything. She slowly put her face into his chest and hugged him. She didn't want to let him go. She felt safe for the first time in her life. She felt content. She held onto him and he held onto her. He knew what was in her heart. She didn't need to say anything else. He had never been this happy in his entire life.

Rahul looked around for Gopi and couldn't see her anywhere. He walked towards the garden and noticed the scene in front of him and his heart broke. Gopi was hugging Ahem. He had never seen Gopi this happy and relaxed before. Her eyes sparkled like never before. His suspicions were correct. Ahem was her husband, he was the man that she loved with all of her heart. He knew now that Gopi could never be his. Her heart had always belonged to Ahem and it always would. He quickly wiped away the tears and walked back into the function. He was happy for Gopi. He only ever wanted her to be happy.

Gopi slowly loosened her hold on Ahem and pulled her head up. She began to pull away from the embrace, but Ahem wasn't quite ready to let her go yet. Ahem looked down at her and smiled. She smiled and shied away. She turned away from him and tried to walk away, but Ahem wouldn't let her go.

"Ji woh chodiye mujhe. Kamya mujhe doond rahi hogi." (Please let me go. Kamya might be looking for me) She attempted to free herself from his hold.

"Nahi. Mein intni aasani se nahi jaane dunga. (No, I won't let you go so easily). I have gotten my Gopi back after so long. I will never let her go, never." Gopi looked back to see him smirk at her. She blushed before looking away. He loved seeing her smile and blush like this. He slowly walked towards her. She felt him right behind her and her heart began to beat faster. She could feel his breath on her neck. He let go of her hand and she took that as her opportunity and ran away. She stopped at the door and looked back at her Ahemji and smiled at him. Ahem smirked back at her before she disappeared into the crowded room. Gopi couldn't wipe the smile off her face. Her Ahemji loved her. She didn't want anything else in the world. She had a Baba who would do anything in the world to protect her, her family. She had a husband who loved her with all of his heart. Sanjeev looked to see Gopi walking in. She looked happy. He had never seen her smile like that before. Her eyes had a sparkle and her face had a new glow. He smiled seeing her smile. He knew it wouldn't be long before Gopi forgave Ahem. He was happy as long as she was happy and if Ahem could make her happy than he was fine with that. He still had a long way to go before she would go back with him, a long way before he was fully forgiven for his mistake. Kamya saw the look on Gopi's face and she also knew. Gopi walked over to Kamya and saw her mehndi. It looked so beautiful.

"Kamya mein to tujhse poochna hi bhool gayi. (Kamya I forgot to ask you.) Your soon to be husband's name isn't written on your hand yet. What is his name anyway? I have yet to meet this lucky man." It suddenly dawned on Kamya that not even the Modi Parivaar knew who the groom was.

"Don't worry Gopi. I'm sure he'll be making an entrance very soon. Here he comes now." By this point Ahem had also walked into the room and was standing next to Gopi. They both turned towards the door to see the familiar face walking through the door. Ahem's face turned red from anger and Gopi looked over at him with worry.

"What the hell are you doing her Umaang?" Ahem grabbed his collar and punched him across the face. "How dare you step foot here after everything you have done?" Ahem threw him towards the table and Anita went to catch her brother. Kamya, Malini, and Vijay looked at the commotion in surprise. They couldn't understand why Ahem was beating up Kamya's fiance. Kinjal went over towards Elesh and held him back. She knew he was just waiting for a chance. The Modi Parivaar was upset and Sanjeev was also shocked. Jigar finally pulled Ahem away from Umaang. Anita looked over at Ahem and then looked over at Gopi. She smirked at her.

"Ahem Bhaiya aap kya kar rahe ho?" (Ahem what are you doing?) "Umaang is my fiance and he should not be treated like this? Why are you doing this?" Kamya looked over at him for an explanation.

"I think I should answer this question Kamya. The story you heard about my wedding and what had happened with Gopi Bhabhi. Well Umaang is the guy that is responsible for everything. He trapped Gopi Bhabhi and tried to ruin my life." Kamya looked over at Umaang in surprise. He always talked to her so gently and with such respect. This can't be the same man that she had met. Now she knew how much of an evil person he truly way. He was doing all of this to get back at her family again. Worst of all he had hurt Gopi. She wasn't going to stand for that. She walked up to Umaang and slapped him across the face. Anita looked over at Kamya in surprise.

"Who do you think you are hitting my brother like that?" Anita walked towards Kamya and pushed her towards the table. "This family is full of a bunch of senseless people. Don't become one of them. My brother can give you all the happiness in the world. You don't need family like this around you. As far as Gopi goes, she is nothing but an illiterate gawar. She deserved everything she got." Anita smirked as she said it and Ahem was furious. Gopi held him back before he did anything. She was furious at this point. This woman had tried to destroy her family, her marriage, and now she's after her best friend. She wasn't going to watch it all happen. Gopi slowly made her way towards Kamya and helped her up. "See that's all she's good for. Cleaning up after people." Gopi looked over at Anita and glared. She would show her what she was good for. She was standing there insulting her family. Gopi walked towards Anita and slapped her across both cheeks one after another. Everyone looked over at Gopi in surprise. They had never seen her react like this before.

"You bloody Bi…." Gopi grabbed Anita's hand in midair before she could slap her and threw it and stopped her mid-sentence.

"Thamees se bat karna Anita. Yeh mera ghar hai aur mere ghar mein aise shab nahi istemal karte. Tum jaise bigdi hoi aurat ko koi shareem nahi hogi lekin mujhe mere sanskaar bohot ache se yaad hai. Aur tum kaun hoti hoh mere ghar mein aake mere hi parivaar par ungle utathi ho. Kamya meri dost hai, aur ek baat bahut ache se samaj lena. Ahemji mere pati hai aur sirf mere. Gopi turned towards Umaang who was still standing in the living room fuming.

"What are you going to do about the wedding? I have already announced that Kamya is getting married tomorrow and if she doesn't your precious Modi Parivaar won't be spared. They already lost a lot once because of Kinjal and now there won't be any respect left if Kamya's wedding doesn't happen. And as far as the Modi Parivaar goes, the Kinjal fiasco was just a start Gopi. It was just one battle. The war is yet to come. And that war starts over there. Jab tere Baba hi nahi rahenge toh tuh kya karegi. Tere paise hi gaya aur gaye Modi Industries. Jab Umaang var kartha hai toh nishane pe lagta hai." "BABA!" She screamed and raced towards him. "Utho Baba utho. Nahi." (Get up Baba, get up. No.) Vijay raced over while Malini called the ambulance. Gopi looked over at Umaang and was furious.

"Tune aaj ek aise aurat ko chonoti dhi hai jo zindigi mein kabhi kisi se uchi awaz mein hi baat nahi ki hai. Lekin Umaang ek baat hamesha yaad rakhna. Gopi showed Umaang the door and broke down on the floor. Ahem rushed to her side and tried to help her up. "Nahi, mut chooye muje. Yeh sab tumari waje se hua hai. Chale jao. (No, don't touch me.
