Chapter Ten

Mani walked out of the kitchen and glared at Rashi's retreating form. Who was she talking to and what was she up to? Her tone did not sound good. She needed to tell someone, but who should she tell. Kokila was too depressed to care, Ahem Bhai well frankly she was scared of him, and Hetal thought her daughter-in-law was still a sweet innocent girl. Jigar! She knew she had to let Jigar know so she quickly walked towards his room making sure she wouldn't be noticed by Rashi. She knocked on the door, but there was no answer. 'Please Jigar Bhai answer the door.' She knocked once again, but still got no answer. 'Now what," she thought. She knew she couldn't let her go; she needed to find out what Rashi was up to. She walked towards the room Rashi was in and realized that it wasn't shut all the way. She pressed her ear to the door to listen. She could hear Rashi talking to somebody loud and clear.

"Stop fighting amongst yourselves. I know that it's still a delicate situation and yes I still can't believe Elesh married that girl after everything. Other than that our plan is working wonderfully. Everyone in this house is depressed, especially that Kadgi and her son. I couldn't have asked for anything else." She paused for a few minutes. Mani wondered what the other person was saying. "Anita is right Umaang. We haven't given these people enough pain we need to figure something else out. Knowing that Ahem he will probably save that company still. You said so yourself he showed up at the meeting today which means he has something up his sleeve. We have to figure out what that is so we can stop him. Don't worry. I'll try and find something in his room tomorrow while they are at work. No one will notice because Kagdi is too depressed to get out of bed, and Majji is just so gullible. She'll believe anything I throw at her. Then I'll call you as soon I reach home. I'm sure Mummy will have some ideas too. I'll talk to you two later before someone comes around." Rashi hung up the phone and looked around. She suddenly noticed that she hadn't shut the door all the way. 'Oh no, did someone overhear my conversation." She looked at the door and thought she saw a shadow. She ran and opened the door to see if she could catch the culprit but there was no one in sight. She sighed in relief and shut the door. She needed to get to bed as she had a lot to accomplish tomorrow. Mani made sure Rashi wasn't going to come out again before she came out of the corner. She knew that girl was up to no good. She was a malicious woman hell bent on ruining her pyari Gopi and this family. She could tell from the day they walked into this house when she tried to trip Gopi in front of all the family members. She had always treated Gopi like trash, but she wasn't going to let her get away with this one. Not if she had anything to say about it. She was going to have to talk to Jigar first thing in the morning before that witch woke up and started her guiles on her family. Mani walked back into the kitchen to finish the rest of her chores before going to bed. She was tossing and turning all night because she could not get Rashi's words out of her thoughts. Whatever Rashi had planned was going to hurt the Modi family again. She always had an inkling Rashi was sabotaging everything in the family and now she knew it was a fact. She woke up bright and early the next morning and got changed. She wanted to catch Jigar first thing. She hoped he was awake. She walked to his room and again made sure that no one was around. She knocked on the door and waiting for a reply. After a few minutes Jigar opened the door. He was already dressed and ready for his morning jog. He was surprised at his visitor.

"Mani, you here this early? Did you need something?" Jigar knew something was up. He could tell by the look on her face.

"Jigar Bhai I need to talk to you about something really important but in private. I don't want anyone else to hear." Jigar understood and told Mani to come inside. Mani told Jigar what she had seen and overheard with Rashi and Jigar was also convinced that Rashi was up to no good. He thanked Mani and told her to go back into the kitchen before someone suspected anything. He would take care of Rashi. He was not going to let her hurt his family again. He went out for his jog, but cut it short. He couldn't get Mani's words out of his head. What was Rashi after and what was she planning on doing. He couldn't believe she had stooped so low as to be scheming with Umaang and Anita. He went back home and hopped in the shower. The hot water felt good and he let his whole body go. It was really relaxing and he needed this break away from bad thoughts, and sad memories. He walked out of the shower and changed into his work clothes and he heard a knock on his door. He opened it up and was surprised to see Ahem there.

"Jai Shri Krishna Jigar, how did you sleep?"

"Great Bhai thank you for asking. What brings you here so early?" He didn't have the heart to ask him how he slept because he could tell the answer by the dark circles around his eyes.

"I came to get your points on the hotel project. We really need that contract and from the look on Mr. Shah's face he didn't look pleased with our project. Do you have any points on them? We can discuss them over breakfast. I am having Mani send it up here." Jigar was really touched by his Bhai's gesture. Ahem had never asked him his opinion on anything let alone a business deal. Before he could respond to his questions Ahem's cell phone rang and Ahem picked it up. The look on Ahem's face was priceless. He was ecstatic as he hung up the phone.

"Thank you so much Rahul. I look forward to working with Shah Industries. Yes I will be happy to make an appointment to meet with Mr. Shah and her daughter. Please thank them on behalf of everyone at Modi Industries." He was so happy he couldn't contain himself. "Jigar we got it. We have the contract for Shah Industries and I want us to work together as partners, as brothers on this." He hugged Jigar and the laughed together for the first time. He told Jigar the details that Rahul had relayed on the phone call and how Mr. Shah's daughter had convinced them that Modi Industries was the way to go.

"We must meet her soon and personally thank her for her support. Without her none of this would have been possible. Who was the rival company they had chosen before Bhai?"

"A & U Group of Companies. Umaang's company was chosen. He had stolen my original proposal, but the new revisions I made that morning did the trick Jigar. I made them because of your words Jigar. I worked at it with my heart as well as my brain, so the credit also goes to you. I wouldn't have been able to do it without your help." The two brothers walked downstairs smiling and told the group the news. Hetal congratulated them and was elated to see her two sons getting closer. Chirag handed over all responsibilities to them and told them he was proud. There was just one person that wasn't quite keen on hearing the idea of their closeness or their success. 'I'll change this really soon don't worry mera pyara sa pathi," thought Rashi. She smirked and walked back up into her room. She had work to do. Jigar noticed the smirk on Rashi's face and scowled.

He waited for Rashi to get into her room before he turned to his brother, "Bhai are all the files on the project in your room? I want to review them today and get up to speed." Ahem nodded his head and Jigar went and retrieved them and they had their breakfast before the men left for work. Rashi came back downstairs right after everyone had gone. She walked over to Hetal.

"Mummyji I'm going to go and get the sheets from everyone's rooms so that I can clean them." Hetal nodded and reminded her not to go in Koki's room as she was still unwell. Rashi nodded. She didn't need to go anywhere else but one room. She walked over to Mani, "Mani go and get the sheets from everyone's room and wash them. I will go and get them from Ahemji and Jigarji's rooms." Now that she had taken care of Mani she walked into Ahem's room. She started looking in Ahem's dresser, but no luck. She searched every drawer in the room but could not find what she was looking for. She was getting frustrated when she noticed the hidden drawer by the bed and opened it up. "Bingo! Now we will see how long those smiles last on their faces." She quickly grabbed the file and cleaned up before taking the sheets. She secured the file in her purse before going to give Mani the rest of the sheets. Now she had to work on Hetal. She needed to get over and see Urmila quickly and devise their next move. She walked back downstairs and told her she had finished the washing. Hetal smiled at Rashi. "Mummyji now that the work is done can I please go and see Mummy and Papa. I was missing them." Hetal nodded and told her to come back early so they could serve dinner. Rashi grabbed her purse and bolted out the door before anyone else could stop her. She arrived at her maayka and walked into the door.

"Rashi, thank goodness you are here. I just heard from Anita that the Modi's got the contract. This is not good. That contract was supposed to go to Umaang's company."

"No Mummy. We were just letting them think we were with them on that last detail. Have you forgotten that that is still my sasuraal. I have gotten used to living in that luxury. What would I do if I lost it all? And worst of all, Jigar is already on my case, the last thing I need is for him to find out that we had a hand in what happened to Kinjal and that Gopi. Umaang and Anita don't care what happens to me or you as long as they succeed in their mission. Well we got what we wanted, and not I am going to make sure they don't succeed in getting the Modi money. Now I will ruin their company as well and all of my obstacles will be gone from my life. Jigar will realize how wrong he was aur mein us Modi Parivaar pe raj karogi." Rashi smirked and handed the file to Urmi.

"What is this beta?"

"Mummy this is the ticket to the end of A & U Group of Companies. I will give this to Umaang and make him think this is the proposal that won the contract and he will resubmit this. Little does he know that this little paper will ruin his reputation in the business world." Rashi and Urmi laughed at that thought. A knock at the door interrupted their thoughts. It was Umaang. He had come for the file and Rashi handed it over to him.

Umaang grabbed the file and left before Rashi's Dad saw the visitor. He had a lot of work to do if he was going to get rid of those Modi's once and for all, which included Rashi and her mother. He was done with them and their services and now he had to make sure that they didn't spoil his plan further. He knew he couldn't trust what she was up to and this file was one of her tricks. Little did she know that he had his own trick up his sleeve.

i hope Rashi will now have good lesson...
but i really hate umang's character...i don't like people who because of their agony.. want to destroy other business or reputation...and people like Rashi and Urmilla are fool enough to help them i n their mean task...
