Whether you are watching her on 70 mm screen, or chatting with her casually, you can't help but like Renuka Shahane's infectious amiability!

But, even in your wildest dreams, you can't imagine her wearing her dancing shoes and prancing around and doing Salsa or hip-hop. The lady this time is out to prove everyone wrong and is enjoying her rendezvous with dance on a TV reality show. NT digs deeper on Renuka's newfound love

'I'm surprised too!'
Tell her that her fans are surprised with her dance fetish and Renuka breaks into her trademark laughter, and says: "I least expected this from myself and I'm surprised too that I'm doing such a show! The fact is that I've always run away from dancing although I've watched all the dance reality shows on telly. Initially, when I got the offer to do this show, I was wary because I've never danced in my life! But, later, I said yes because I'm currently not working in a television show. The fact that rehearsals are happening very close to my house, also helped."

Husband's motivation
After little goading, she finally confesses that it's her husband who finally motivated her to enjoy a grand affair with dance. "Actually I've put on some weight in the past one year, So Rana ji (Ashutosh Rana) egged me on to go for this show. He said 'patle ho jaoge! Maza aayega!' In fact, I & my hubby want to tango together," says she rather shyly. And how are her sons Shouryaman and Satyendra liking her in this new avatar? "Shouryaman loves my moves, but Satyendra, the younger one, hates everything associated with my dance," says she and adds, "but honestly, I'm having such a good time and loving my tryst with happy hormones!"

Creative call!
Once the show is over, Renuka has other creative pursuits lined up. "My directorial debut Rita was a creatively satisfying experience, and now I'm ready with the screenplay of my next film, in Hindi, in which my husband will play the main lead. I'm also writing the screenplay for a Marathi film, which is keeping my creative juices flowing," says she and signs off.
