so tomorrow is a very huge day - it's Bhavna's 20th birthday! And I promised her a shot a long time ago - so that one is written, and the second one will be posted here tomorrow as well.

Happy Birthday B!

-|Mystical Meetings|-

The car slowed down, even as Bhavna pressed the accelerator harder, a frown marring her usually jovial face. It finally spluttered and died, jerking to a stop, causing the sleeping girl in the passenger seat to hit her head on the window.

"Ouch," Madhuri muttered, sitting up and rubbing her head with one hand. "What the heck, Bhav?" She squinted at the driver, who kept turning the key in the ignition to no avail.

"You have got to be kidding me," Aradhna huffed in the backseat. Meera bit her bottom lip, and switched off her music. She took her phone out of her purse as Aradhna leaned to the front to double check what Bhavna had already concluded.

Bhavna unbuckled her seatbelt and put shifted the gear to neutral before turning to face the other three girls. "So the car's dead."

"Obvious much B?" Aradhna raised an eyebrow. Her long-suffering bestfriend just looked at her. "Sorry," she murmured.

Madhuri ignored the exchange. "What are we going to do?"

"I'm not getting any reception," Meera announced, looking up from her phone. "We're probably going to have to walk to the nearest town."

"Walk?" Bhavna yelped. "What about the car? We can't leave a rental in the middle of nowhere!"

"We don't really have a choice, B, unless you want to stay here overnight," Meera replied. "Besides, look ahead," she pointed out the windshield. Barely 20 meters away stood a sign welcoming them to town.

Bhavna opened her mouth a couple of times as if to say something before settling for, "Oh."

"Gather your bags girls, let's go walking." Madhuri hopped out of the car.

---

Some fifteen minutes later, the four girls were making their way to the local hang out after having checked into a motel and called a mechanic.

"The Mystic Grill?" Aradhna scrunched up her nose. "Is everything in this town 'mystic'?" she mocked slightly.

Madhuri grinned at the elder girl. "Oh come on, are you telling me you're not excited to see a psychic?"

"Psycho, more like it," Aradhna stuck her tongue out.

"I'm hungry, people, stop stalling and go in," Bhavna barked, glaring at her friends.

Meera herded her friends into the well-lit diner and to a small booth in the corner where Bhavna collapsed in welcome relief, massaging her calfs and humming under her breath. Madhuri, who was once again sitting next to her, recognized the tune and started to sing under her breath. Aradhna went through the menu as Meera got the two distracted girls to choose something to eat.

A relatively good looking teenager made his way to their table, and with an easy-going grin, introduced himself as Matt and asked for their order.

"One garden salad, two chicken burgers, one grilled cheese and one plate of fries," Meera replied, nodding decisively. Aradhna looked up at the waiter and asked for water.

"When I rule the world, I'll plant flowers," Madhuri's voice was still soft, but louder than it had been before causing Matt and her two friends to look at her in shock.

"When I rule the world, I'll have snakes," Bhavna chimed in, smirking to herself before realizing that they were, in fact, not alone, and the cute waiter was looking flabbergasted. She blushed deeply as Aradhna snickered and continued with the only other line she knew of the song.

"And Jane Austen novels," she trilled softly before collapsing into a silent fit of giggles against Meera's shoulders.

Bhavna grinned weakly at the waiter. "Sorry, we're - tired," she explained. "We get loopy?"

Matt chuckled. "Sounds like my friends. I'll go put your order in."

Aradhna's giggles had died down by the time Matt was back with their food and another quick grin and the girls ate rather quickly. Bhavna's attention got caught by a scuffle at the door. Her eyes narrowed when she saw the conversation Matt was having with two other teenage boys who appeared to be restraining themselves from jumping at each other. 'Or jumping each other,' she mused, wicked thoughts entering her mind.

"They're cute," Madhuri whispered, and Bhavna jumped. She had not noticed the other girl lean over and stare in the same direction.

She smiled. "Yeah they are. 'specially the taller one with the floppy hair." Her eyes flit back to the boys and caught said floppy haired boy's eyes. Embarrassed, she quickly looked away.

Aradhna and Meera exchanged glances, silently arguing to see who would get to look behind first. Meera cheered under her breath when she won their silent battle and twisted in her seat. "Whoa, cute doesn't even begin to cover that."

A sigh and sulk was all she got in response from Aradhna. "You guys are so lucky I love you."

"I'll point them out to you when we leave," Madhuri promised. Bhavna had yet to lift her head since being caught staring by the object of her focus.

"This is way embarrassing," she complained.

"As opposed to the rest of our lives right B? Where we sneak photos of cute guys on the bus," Aradhna teased.

"That was one time!" Bhavna squealed. "And you made me!"

Shrugging, the other girl merely smirked. "Let's pay and go? We've got an early day tomorrow if the mechanic gets the car done. Don't want to be late for Z's wedding now do we?"

Bhavna could do nothing but agree, and Madhuri went to the counter to pay and try and flirt with the bartender.

As they left, Meera pointed out one of the guys to Aradhna, who made an appreciative sound softly. Bhavna bumped slightly into another patron as she replied to a frantic message from Shifali. Turning around to apologize, she froze.

"I'm sorry," she squeaked, not sure if she was apologizing for earlier, when she had been staring, or for colliding with him, however lightly.

The 'taller one with the floppy hair' simply smiled and assured her it was no problem. Inside, Bhavna was a pile of goo, though she maintained an outward appearance of calm.

"I've never seen you in town before," he stated before she could make her escape.

"We're passing through," she replied. "Our car broke down on the outskirts of town, so," she spread her hands, "here we are." She winced mentally at how stupid that sounded.

"So you won't be here for long?"

Bhavna shook her head as she wondered where this was going. She was pretty sure her palms were sweating and everyone around her could here her heart beating.

"That's a pity," he almost looked disappointed.

"It is?"

He nodded. "I'm Jeremy Gilbert by the way, and I hope you come back to Mystic Falls soon."

"Bhavna Vasnani, and now I'm thinking, me too." She grinned slightly and he ducked his head bashfully.

"Hopefully I'll see you again," he offered before heading off.

Bhavna sighed dreamily before responding to Madhuri's tugging at her sleeve and following the younger girl out.

"I love towns that are mystical," she said.

Aradhna rolled her eyes. "She is not driving us back tomorrow. I don't wanna die 'cos B was daydreaming."

🤣 LOVED it! But I cannot believe you put this line in:
"As opposed to the rest of our lives right B? Where we sneak photos of cute guys on the bus," Aradhna teased.

"That was one time!" Bhavna squealed. "And you made me!"

Hmph. But anyway, I did indeed love it! *hugs* Thankooo 🤗
