Everything i do i do it for you.
Dedicated to two Friends... you know who you are...
Part 1
Maan read what Pinky had written and knew what Geet was doing. It gave him hope that she was there - so close yet so far away. He knew where she was even though Pinky had not broken the promise and given only a clue. He went there only to find no trace of her, boy had the tables turned. For last two days she had been asking him to hear her out and he had not and now he was going crazy looking for her to tell her exactly what he should have done, listen.
He did not have time right now for recriminations. He can do that later, that luxury was affordable once he had Geet with him. He felt right now there was a train he had to catch else he would miss the bus of life. He knew from this day forward every step he took would be towards her, with her; he needed her in his life.
He reached the station and halted to take in the scene of people milling around and he searched for the elusive green, a sign surely. Then he saw a furling green flag beckoning him to look and he saw her dupatta, as she boarded a train. He had felt her presence the minute he stepped into the station and knew she would catch the first train out of here.
The train started to move and he knew he had to be on it. He jumped into the first door near him and moved in the direction he has seen the dupatta before it had disappeared into the door. He searched calling out her name in a chant, pleading her to come out of hiding, his eyes darting in all directions, his movements jerky at best. His heart was thrumming at a speed that would shame an airplane.
He saw the dupatta fly in the next bogie as he reached the end of one, she must have seen him and he paused. Why was she running from him? He then changed strategy. Instead of calling out her name, he moved stealthily, moving like a panther on a hunt, hunting for his love. He went ahead into the bogie and saw again the ever faithful dupatta, giveaway her location. She just shut a door of a compartment.
He stood outside the compartment, hearing her movements inside, her panting breath and saying "Babaji". He smiled hearing her voice and then whispered, "Geet, Darwaza kholo," with longing, apology mingled in the voice, "Mujhe tumse baat karni hai."
"Chale jaaiye yahan se, Maan, mujhe kuch nahi sunna," she replied with steel in her voice even though she felt none of it.
"Geet!" he shouted firmly, then more softly, "Please, tum galat samjhi, jo maine kaha tha, tum galat samjhi," banging on the door, he muttered, "tum sun lo phir kahogi to chala jaaonga."
But all he got was silence from the other side, he stopped banging on the door and stepped back, prepared to wait as long as it took to talk to her. It was his turn to do the groveling, to apologize and he was not going anywhere without saying his piece. He folded his arms and leaned against the window behind him feigning confidence he did not feel. The train was moving so she will have to come out at some point and he was willing to play the waiting game, for eternity if need be.
He straightened as he heard the lock being opened and immediately pushed the door open before she got the opportunity to close it on him and shut it behind him once inside.
Geet goes, "Oh," but could not add anything beyond and Maan came up to her as he asked, "Kyon Geet, Kyon," with eyes that searched for answers from hers. He looked wrought to her but she kept her composure, she was not going to melt, she was going to stand her ground.
"Kyon chorr ke jaa rahi thi Geet, mein kaise jeeonga agar tum chali gayee to?" he pleaded then, telling her in no uncertain terms what she meant to him and waited for her verdict.
Geet was taken aback at the vehemence in his voice, his pain but she had to remember his words, she had to remember he was not accepting of her truth. She had to remember that he had been disappointed that he was not the only man in her life and she did not want her imperfection to affect his otherwise perfect life.
She purposely made her expression turn bland and replied, "Mein kuch nahi kehna chahti, Maan, bas aap chale jaaiye yahan se."
This riled Maan and he held her shoulders and replied, "I am sorry, I am so sorry, I was hurt and I was distraught hearing your truth. Tumhare sachch ne mujhe hilla diya Geet. Mein aaj tak samjhta tha ki mein apni dosti, apna haath tumhein de kar tum par ehsaan kar raha hoon, mein mahaan hoon kyon ki meine tumhein bachaya hai, par mein galat tha Geet, kitna galat tha." He thought he had to let it all out. His realization that she was not only brave but she also had the character to smile at her adversities, to fight and still believe in goodness. He knew he would have either retreated into a hole or fought the world like a rebel, but here she was fighting her situation with aplomb and he felt besides deep love, admiration for her strength, her strength of character to not crumbling under the pressure but rise with dignity and courage.
Geet was still not convinced but she could feel herself melt for he had a look of admiration for her besides self-reproach. She tried to close herself out; she knew she should, it was best for him, them for her to leave him. Her shadow will always cloud their future and she could not bear to see Maan having to play second fiddle to anyone, to compromise, to be in a situation where he has to bow his head. She wanted to be his strength not his shame. But more than that she did not want his pity, which would kill her. She felt he did not understand her, did not know how much he meant to her and the reason for leaving.
But before she could reply, he added, "Mein kaiyee maut mar gaya Geet jab pata chala ki tum chalee gayee. Adi, Pinky sab tumhara pata bhi nahi batana chahte the. Mujhe dhakka laga tha Geet jab tumne kaha tha ki tumne usse Mann se maan liya tha, ki tumne usse bhagwan se upar ka darja diya tha par woh kuch nahi tha, kuch nahi'. Iss baat ke saamne ki tum mujhe chorrkar chalee gayee'.tumne angoothi bhi'peeche chorrdi Geet'. Tab mujhe ehsaas hua ki tum kya karne chalee thi'." Tears were glistening in his eyes which he held back with enormous effort, but his voice gave him away, it broke as he thought of her leaving him.
Geet could not take it anymore, hearing him say those things which she now knew must have sounded like that but that is not what she had meant. She had meant'. She put her hand on his cheeks and then explained softly, "Oh, lekin, meine to aisa nahi kaha ki mein aaj bhi''" and halted. Dare she say anything that will tell him how much he means to her?
Maan then put a hand over hers and said, "Keh do Geet, tum sirf meri ho, keh do ki aaj woh tumhare liye koi mayne nahi rakhta, keh do geet'." He needed to hear her say it..hear her assure him that in her heart there was only room for him, he was not a man who would share her affection, he was too selfish and in his need he pulled her closer holding her shoulders..
"Woh'.mein'Maan'" though her expression changed to tell him that she had not thought of that man in benevolent fashion for a long time, she looked into his eyes steadily and told him, "Mein usse kab ka apni zindagi se nikaal chuki hoon '.Maan'." but before she could say anything more, they heard a knock on the compartment and they turned as the door opened to bring in the ticket collector.
They both looked at each other as the TC asked for their ticket. Geet offered hers while Maan stood next to her. The TC looked at the ticket and said, "madam, ye train Ahmedabad nahi, Kolkatta ja rahi hai'. aap galat train mein ho'."
Everything I Do (I Do It For You) - Bryan Adams..
Look in to my eyes
You will see, what you mean to me
Search your heart, search your soul
And when you find, then you'll search no more
Don't tell me, it's not worth trying for
You can't tell me it's not worth dying for
You know it's true everything I do I do it for you
Look in to you heart, you will find
There is nothing there to hide
Take me as I am, take my life
I would give it all, I would sacrifice
Don't tell me it's not worth fighting for
I can't help it, there's nothing I want more
You know it's true, everything I do I do it for you
There is no love, like your love
And no other could give me more love
There's nowhere, unless your there
All the time, all the way
You can't tell me it's not worth trying for
I can't help it, there is nothing I want more
I would fight for you, I'd lie for you
Walk the wire for you, yeah I'd die for you
You know it's true
Everything I do
I do for you
