Chapter 35

Maan and Abs entered the Study and she reluctantly let go of Maan's hand. Daadima called her and said betho bte! Once settled, daadima, held Abs' hand and said, maan spoke with me. I am so sorry to have hurt your feeling bachcha. I can be harsh without meaning to be. I have been wanting my grandsons to be married and their weddings to be perfect for so long I wanted everything to be done just right. Having said that, I understand your father has his own dreams and yes I agree that I should not interfere in the arrangements. I will let your father do exactly how he wants the arrangements. I am sure they will be spectacular. Beta, kabhi bhi kuch bhi takleef aaye ya aapko lage ki ye sahi nahi hai, I would like it if you will feel free enough to speak with me. Mein hamesha aapka bhala hi chahoongi. Aap kabhi bhi ye mat sochiye ki mujhe bura lagega, beta, mere ye do bte hain and aur aap meri beti ho Abolee. Abs then squeezed back her acceptance to Daadima. She said softly, I was worried that my father will not like it if the help comes from Maan's family. He will feel affronted and I did not want to lose Maan due to ego clash and so I spoke up to Maan. Mein samajhti hoon Daadima aap kya chahti hain and thank you for understanding what my father will feel. He has made most of the arrangements already. I updated Maan a little earlier that Grand Hyatt is booked, for guests houses have been arranged. So sab aap chaheingi waise hoga par bas Papa ko sab handle karne dijiye daadima, he needs to do that and my family needs to do that. Daadima nodded her assent and then they decided to call her father.

Daadima and father had a relatively easy conversation after the little heads up given by Maan and Abs. They confirmed arrangements and her father informed that they will be here this weekend and Thakka can happen on Tuesday, mahurat is good and they will be ready to meet Maan and his family. They confirmed Tuesday at Khurana Residence at 7pm as the time for Thakka and finalized the timing of the Sangeet, Mehndi, Ganesh Puja and Wedding. The cards can been printed and distributed this weekend. It was a rushed wedding so a simple design had been selected by Abs father. Maan informed daadima that he will get the graphic artist they used to design the card home tonight and finalise their card.

Daadima, was a little worried about shortage of time but Abs father managed to placate her and told her sab theek ho jaayega Savitri Deviji. Bachche kush hain to sab achcha hi hoga.

After the call, maan told daadi that he will go and drop Abs and put in couple of hours at the office and come home with the wedding card. Abs aslo showed interest in the card and wanted to check the updates on the project and both of them went to office.

Vicky had gone to office and had tackled a phone call from France about a new bid for a contract to a Canadian company which was based in France and also a French company sending in proposal for a work.

He was busy with the project proposal when he saw both Maan and Abs walk in to his cabin. He went upto them to ask how was the call. Maan and Abs told him that all was well and that he had talked with Daadi to placate her and tell her that Abs' father will have a fit if he did not get to organize the wedding the Verma way. Vicky, mentioned that he had been a bit worried about daadima put down her dictat like that but knew Maan would turn her around, nahi to bhabhi ke pitaji ke dande nahi khane patde he said winking at Abs and backslapping Maan. Maan told haan haan maje loot lo tum dono, pisna to mujhe hai ek taraf Hitler (daadi) aur ek taraf Gabbar (Abs father). At this even Abs hit Maan on shoulder who said ouch tum dono marna band karoge ab tum dono ko bhi villan bana doon kya meri prem kahani mein? They all three laughed at the obscureness of his future wife being his villan in love life. It was good to lighten the moment and Vicky was known to diffuse any tension in air. He was given a rare gift probably due to the early pain he had faced.

Maan knew his brother behaved like a clown but in fact was a sensitive person who could know without being told what was happening around. His intuitiveness was what also helped in software development and research besides dealing with sticky personal situation. Maan had expected one of his ex girlfriends to find Vicky and want to personally torture him before murder but the guy never had any fall out with his ex's and Maan knew he had some list there. He wondered if Nargis knew about what kind of a player Vicky used to be. He had changed after meeting Nargis and he realized that Nargis was a strong woman who knew what it takes to keep a guy like Vicky happy.
