The Deserving Lot
Lara Dutta: She is spunky, smart, voluptuous (or bikini bod slim) and expressive. It was her performance that stood out in Jhoom Barabar Jhoom and she held her own opposite Salman Khan in Partner. She has an amazing vibe and pleasant screen presence. She looks versatile and we don't know why she is not going places. After Housefull, she has Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai ready for release but Lara deserves to be in the big league.
Neha Dhupia: Again, she is spunky, glamourous, smart, attractive and sexy. She has proved her mettle as an actress in films like Raat Gayi Baat Gayi, Mithya, De Dana Dan (the only lady who was acting) and Ek Chalis Ki last Local. She can be an action star and a femme fatale. Her appeal is universal. With her voluptuous figure and long face, she is in the Katrina Kaif mould and she can act. So why isn't she doing better?
Gul Panag: She is pretty, sweet, intelligent and a dependable actor. She shone in movies like Dor and Manorama Six Feet Under and is a delight to watch on screen. She has the potential to make it big! We wonder why she isn't getting significant films and powerful roles.
Ayesha Takia: Her innocence and cute charm is rare to find. She can do a Socha Na Tha on one hand and a Dor on the other. In spite of her buxom figure, there is something childlike and adorable about Ayesha. We'd love to see her in romantic comedies and working with good directors like Imtiaz Ali again.
Kunal Kapoor: It's surprising that he has legions of female fans and hardly any films. His last significant role was that of Aslam in Rang De Basanti in 2006. The brooding, tall, dark and handsome actor will be seen in Lamhaa and Mahayoddha Rama (an animation film) and we think he deserves to do commercial films ala Imran Khan and Ranbir Kapoor. Putting him on the cover page of a magazine will make the issue sell like hot cakes.
Isha Sharvani: She is fair and lovely, cute, slim and adorable and a fantastic dancer to boot. She can play a desi girl ala Kisna and a sophisticated and dazed uptown girl ala Luck By Chance. Miss Sharvani should play the lead in an entertaining dance film.
Deepak Dobriyal: He wowed with his fantastic supporting acts in Maqbool, Omkara and Gulaal. He was superb in 1971 also. He is a fine actor who can do any kind of role and hold his own opposite superstars. We think he should work with directors like Prakash Jha and Dibakar Banerjee.
Jimmy Shergill: He has handsome, tall, fair with a powerful screen presence. He hasn't done very many good films, but he has always delivered the goods. While A Wednesday gave him an excellent role which he did full justice to, he was wasted in My Name is Khan. He is a superstar in Punjab and with the right roles, he will go a long way in Bollywood.
