Hey friends, here is a short update. Thanks to everyone who commented n pressed the like tab. I've replied to some, n i'll reply to the others soon.

I wont be able to update for some time after this, have an important exam coming up. So plz bear with it.

PART 18

AUTHOR'S NOTE - Those who remember the last part, the nam of tht girl who tried dishonouring Armaan has been changed from Simran to 'Simple', with due respects to my bubbly 'Simi di'.

The next morning, Riddhima got up n gets ready for her morning jog. Her head was still heavy with the incidents of last night. She still remembred everything step to step, n word to word, n ofcouse, Armaan to Riddhima. The look she'd seen in his eyes, when she'd been alone with him in the room, it made her want to hope that he felt the same for her, as she'd felt since so many years, but she knew it wasnt right to hope what cannot happen. But then again, she contradicted herself, thinking abt the next thing. The way he'd looked at her, when the incident with Simple had happened, his eyes hadnt pleaded, he had been self-respected enough not to plead, but his eyes had spoken volumes. His eyes were directed only towards her, telling her tht he was innocent. She wud have been the biggest dumb person had she also blamed him for something he didnt do (AUTHOR'S NOTE: I know calling all those losers just dumb isnt enuf for what they did to Armaan, but abhi ke liye itna hee, i cant write down all the swears here u see, but u all r free to do it, i wont mind). Evn if she hadnt seen in his eyes, her heart had already known he was innocent, though her mind tried to contradict her heart by remembering all those page 3 pictures n news abt Armaan, but Riddhima just cudnt listen to her mind. It had to be her heart this time. After everything was cleared, she was proud to see so much respect for Armaan in every one's eyes, even Shashank had been really happy n proud, but she cudnt figure why on earth was he proud of Armaan. Anyways, she had been glad, n irritated too, tht she didnt get to talk to him after tht incident. Glad, coz she cudnt have handled another one of his intense looks from being very close to her, n pissed, coz she desperately wanted to talk to him, hear him laugh, n maybe flirt wid her too. But even then, she was aware tht his eyes had followed her all through the party until he'd left.

Riddhima reached the park, and after her few rounds of jogging, she finally reached the basket-ball court. She was surprised to find it all empty. Suddenly, she saw Maryam moving along with Ishu here n there. They looked tensed. She reached them, n asked them abt what had happened. They told her that Riddhan was missing.

"Riddhan, guys he's not a young kid, he is 21 years of age, i am sure he must have gone somewhere, n he'll come back", Riddhima said,

"Nahi, we r not talking abt him, u did not come since a few days na, we met another Riddhan. He is 6 years old, n the naughtiest kid we've ever met. An hour ago, he asked us all to hide, n he wanted to find us, but right now, he's the one missing. We thought he might be doing it purposely, but his brother Rohit told us tht he didnt continue his pranks for so long. So, we all have divided in gropus and pairs, n r searching for him", Maryam said,

"Nice idea, this way we can reach him sooner, waise do u have a pic of him, it'll help me find him. I'll even ask Jack n Mack", Riddhima said,

"Yeah, here, see, n the idea was not ours, it was Armaan's, now go n search for him. If u find him, take him to the basket-ball court, we all cross from there every 5 minutes", Ishu said, n walked away.

Riddhima wondered, Armaan? Again her thought started turning direction, but for once, she did listen to her mind, called Jack n Mack, n started her search for tht notorious Riddhan. She wondered how two people with same name were so different. On one side was tht 21 year old, who she was sure cudnt even think of hurting a fly, n on the other side was this little kid, who had everyone running on their toes. It really took guts to be so irritating, she guessed. Thinking all this, she reached the back entrance of the park, n there on the main road, she spotted him. Riddhan was walking in the middle of the road, probably heading towards the candy store on the opposite side. Riddhima saw a truck coming real close towards Riddhan, n was abt to shout his name, when suddenly, Armaan sprang out of nowhere. He pushed Riddhan to one side, n lost his balance when the truck neared him.

"ARMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN", was all Riddhima cud shout, she saw he had somehow managed to roll himself out of danger, but she knew that he was hurt badly, her heart knew it. She rushed towards him, with Jack n Mack behind her. She ran to him, n landed his head in her lap. He was bleeding from forehead n arms. She grasped his face from both sides n said,

"Armaan, i wont let anything happen to u, u have to be fine, for me, c'mon Armaan, wake up, u cant do this to me", tears came gushing in her eyes. Armaan opened his eyes slightly n smiled when he saw her,

"Basket itni jaldi peechha nahi chhodoonga", she also smiled, the name Basket, he was using it for the second time, n it brought back the day when she'd first met him. But she knew it was no time to thank God for tht day, it was only Armaan right now. She asked Jack n Mack to pick him up n hurry.

"Mam, we've informed the doctors, but where shud we call them?", Jack asked,

"My appartment, its the closest", saying this, Riddhima rushed with Mack who was carrying Armaan single handedly in his arms (lucky Mack, i sooo hate him).

For anyone who is curious abt tht Riddhan who had wanted Armaan to get hurt, he was standing with his brother n getting scolded, while all he knew was the candy he was licking.

Riddhima rushed inside, and asked Armaan to be placed immediately in her room (again all white room here in her appartment too). The doctors had arrived, n they did not look any doctors by appearance, but she knew Jack wudnt risk anyone's life, so they had to be the best. She was asked to leave the room, while the doctors tended to Armaan with a nurse.

The doctors came out after some time, Riddhima came rushing to them,

"How is he doctor? He's fine na!!!"

"Yes, he is absolutely fine, though he hasnt gained consciousness yet. Hello, i am Dr Veer Vardhan Singh", the male doctor spoke up,

"And i am Dr Ayesha Vardhan Singh. By the way, is the patient related to u?", the female doctor asked,

"Yeah, he's my (crap Riddhima, these docs wont understand what is he really to u, what, not my fault if even i dont know the exact word for him), ummmm, he's family", Riddhima managed, n she thought she imagined a sudden twinkle in the eyes of both the doctors.

"So Miss Riddhima, u need to take great care of ur 'family', ok", Dr Ayesha said, stressing the word family,

"Yeah, make sure he stays with u in tht room only, no other room...", Dr Veer spoke, but his foot was stamped hard by Dr Ayesha which was missed by Riddhima,

"WHAT?", Riddhima shouted,

"Ouch, uh i, i mean, he shud not be allowed to move, his fractured leg wot be able to handle the burden", Veer managed,

"DOC, he has a fractured leg n u say he's fine?", Riddhima again spoke, looking shocked,

"Uh Miss Riddhima, are u a doctor by any chance (Veer asked looking not so sure of himself, Riddhima furiosly shaked her head), then dont challenge what i say, i am the doctor, ok (Veer spoke the last lines little forcefully, n Riddhima nodded her head, as if suddenly scared), hmm, thats better", he added,

"Miss Riddhima, plz call us as soon as he wakes up, make sure before talking to u, he talks to us, ok. Its for his good health", Ayesha said, Riddhima nodded like a small kid, she seemed to be still scared of Veer,

"N good heart", Veer mumbled,

"Did u just say something?", Riddhima asked, with a little hesitation,

"Me, no, i never said anything, just take good care of him", Veer said innocently, while Ayesha who had heard him mumble, glared at him.

The two doctors left along with the nurse, n refused Riddhima when she offered to escort them out,

"No, u shud stay wid him, he'll get better soon", Veer had said,

Riddhima had found the two doctors strange, but she was glad tht Armaan was fine, a fractured leg, but she was sure she cud handle it. She went inside, n sat besides Armaan. She had called Jenny to tell her tht she wud be late for office. She had also called Nandini n told abt him. Suddenly, she saw him opening eyes. She immediately moved forward, holding his hand unintentionally. Armaan opened his eyes to see her beautiful face covered with care for him, n he felt the warmth her hand giving him. He smiled n tried to speak,

"Ri...."

She immediately placed her free hand on his mouth to stop him from talking,

"No, dont talk, u cant talk to me right now, u need to talk to tht Doctor first, let me call her", she got up to pick her cell, when she realised a pull on her hand, she realised tht she had been holding his hand, she immediately pulled her hand n called the doctor.

"Hello... haan Doctor, i am Riddhima... haan he's awake... yeah, i did not allow him to talk... you willthe first one to talk to him... Armaan, i'll hold the phone, u talk"

As soon as Armaan was abt to speak, the voice on the other side askd him to be quiet.

"Dont speak anything, haan Armaan, Ayesha here, just nod ur head ocassionally so tht Riddhima isnt suspicious, ab sun, luckily Veer n me were the doctors who checked u, tu bilkul theek hai, hatta katta naujawan, haan haan Veer keh rahe hain pehelwaan bhi, ok, now let me talk, to we've told Riddhima its a leg fracture, so act like one fractured person, n we told her not to move u from there for some time. You enjoy ur lady love ki company, n apni love story ko aage badha. Ok, bye, see u not so soon, n enjoy"

Armaan didnt know wht to do, his heart wanted to jump wid joy, but he resisted doing it, Riddhima shudnt be made suspicious. He nodded when Ayesha put down the phone, n Riddhima cut the call. Riddhima started talking,

"God, those doctors were strange, n u know wht, i thought tht fmale doc was quite over desperate to talk to u, i wonder why she seemed in so much urgency..."

Armaan saw her talking away, she had tht cute irritated expression on her face, he suddenly held her hand n pulled her which made her fall on him,

"Didnt u feel jealous even once whn tht doctor showed so much interest in me", he said in a soft n a husky voice,

Riddhima was lost in his eyes, she drowned deep in them, n she blushed furiously as his words sank in. Her hair came on her face, Armaan brought his other hand, and oushed tht strand of hair back, n in this, his fingers touched her face, she shivered at this sudden touch, n immediately closed her eyes to feel his touch. He started caressing her face, when suddenly,

"RIDZI, I AM UP"

The voice made Riddima leave him, n she immediately straightened herself, pushing back another strand. Armaan cursed te person, but immediately realised tht he wasnt alone wid her, who cud've been at this time. Just then he saw someone entring the room, dressed in a black vest, n khaki 3/4ths.

"Morning Ridzi, how was the jog, n how were ur little players.......Armaan tum, Ridzi ke room mein, what r u doing here", the guy screamed,

"Mayank, tum yahaan? What r u doing here?", Armaan was equally shocked,

"Mayu, Armaan, relax both of u. Armaan, Mayank lives in this house, sometimes, n Mayank (she told him everything)"

Just then they were interrupted by someone again,

"Morning Ridzi, morning Bhai, how r u...., Armaan, wht r u doing here, on Ridzi's bed, n in this condition?", Anjali walked in the room, n Riddhima again naratted the whole thing to her.

"So Armaan, u've fractured ur which leg?", Mayank asked suspiciously, n Armaan thought,

'Beta Armaan, tu to gaya, God knows which leg did Veer n Ayesha say, n if i say the other one, i'll end up flopping the plan, God help me na, plz'

"Areh Bhai, right leg pe plaster hai, to right leg hee hogi na, silly u", Anajli pointed out.

Armaan thanked God inwardly. Mayank smirked, Armaan hadnt answred his question, n this had given him his answer.

"Waise Anjie, how come u guys r staying here, n why r u calling Mayank, bhai?", Armaan asked,

"Oh, we both like to stay wid Ridzi n chat long till night. N Mayank is not only mine, but Riddhima's brother as well, Rakhi bhai u see. It was in her school days, all their friends had sisters, Smarat, Uday, n all (guys i know sabki nahi thi, but this is my ff, i do wht i want to) n Mayank used to be often sad. One raksha-bandhan, Mayank was sitting alone, when Riddhima went n made him her brother. Sweet na, n main bhi Mayank ki sis ban gayi, but not everyone enjoys this, Nikki n Muskaan r too scared of him to tie him a rakhi, funny na", Anjali kept on speaking, while Mayank's eyes threw daggers to her.

Just then, Nandini enterd the room, n it was the usual mother-son lines between Armaan n Nandini. Actually, it was quite overly done, n Armaan realised tht Nandini did know the truth, Ayesa might have told her.

"Maani Beta, we cant shift u from here, but who'll take care of u? I have so many things to be done for the marriage preparations", Nandini spoke sounding really tensed,

"Aanty, we can keep a nurse, nahi?", Anjali suggested,

"Never, what if she tries to take use of him when they r alone, my poor helpless Armaan will be able to do nothing", Nandini faked some tears, Armaan gave her 'what-did-that-nonsense-come-from' expression, while others thought Nandini's answer strange. Just then,

"Anjie, aanty means she does not want something like yesterday night", Mayank said, shocking evryone,

"Haan haan, i'd meant this only", Nandini said,

"So Maasi, what do u suggest? I think, what say tht Jenny comes n takes care of him, n we do trust her, nahi, i can manage widout her in the office? I think she is the best for this job", Riddhima asuggested,

"No beta, Jenny is needed at the office, u also cant manage widout her, but she can manage widout u, wait, i have an idea, Riddhima, why dont u stay here, plz beta, plz, i can only trust Armaan wid u, plz", Nandini pleaded,

"But Maasi, office...", Riddhima said,

"Office can handle widout u, n Atul bhi to hoga wahaan, plz do it for me, plz, Atul can handle the office very well, haina Anjali", Nandini said,

"Anjali nodded immediately, n Mayank too approved when Riddhima looked at him. Finally,

"Ok Maasi, i'll stay here wid him", Riddhima gave in,

"Ok, thats great, come, now escort me out, bye Maani, n take gud care, love u", Nandini walked away with Riddhima n Anjali. Armaan was smiling at the success of his plan, when,

"You really love her a lot, dont u?", Armaan saw Mayank had folded his hands n was standing with the support if the wall, with one leg raised, Armaan saw the sincerity in his voice,

"Shi*, even u can see, in fact everyone can see, i dont know why cant she see it?", Armaan said,

"Everyone can see it, tht is why they r helping u in ur fake plan (Armaan looked at him shocked), i knew it was something fishy, n when u did not answer which leg was fractured, i realised the truth", Mayank said,

"Is tht why u just helped me out?", Mayank asked,

"You're half right, i did help becoz of this reason, but i helped Ridzi, not u. I've seen Ridzi live a life of misery becoz of what u did to her Armaan, and i cannot describe how helpless i'd felt at that time. The only way to bring happiness back to her is u, and i can do anything for that. Ridzi's happiness lays in u alone, n i have to admit, i have seen love for hr in ur eyes. On the day before the engagement, i'd seen something different in ur eyes, but wasnt sur it was love. Yesterday night, i'd seen how ur eyes searched only for Ridzi, even when u were being accused by that Simple. I had seen the trust Riddhima had in her eyes for u, n i guess u deserve it too. And today morning's incident proves tht u deserve her in everyway. So, i will help u too in bringing Ridzi closer to u", Mayank said,

"Thanks a lot buddy, i really appreciate this help. And i am sorry for the past, lets forget it all, n i promise u'll never regret this decision. Friends?", Armaan glowed,

"Forever, n yeah, just one thing, Nandini Maasi really overdoes her role, doesnt she?", Mayank said this, n both of them burst into laughter.

Anjali n Riddhima had escorted Nandini to the gate, they went to the kitchen. Riddhima started some preparations for the breakfast, while Anjali settled herself on the shelf with a bottle of water in her hand.

"So Ridzi?", Anjali started,

"What so?", Riddhima asked, still engrossed in her work,

"What do u think abt this relation?", Anjali asked,

"I'd told u tht Atul is a really good guy, n u shud go ahead with him", Riddhima commented,

"Ridzi, i wasnt talking abt Atul n me, i was asking abt Armaan n you",

"Oh!"

"Not 'oh'Ridzi, i want some answers, i can see he loves u, everyone can see he loves u, n i know u love him too, then where's the problem"

"Anjie, its not the way u think..."

"If i am wrong, then tell me wht is he doing here, in ur bedroom?"

"Wo, ah, wo guest room is upstairs, so..."

"Ridzi u very well know i dont mean it tht way, if u dont love him what is he doing in ur house?"

"Anjie, i didnt mean it tht way, i do love him, n i'll only love him always, u know tht, but the thing where u r wrong is, is tht he also loves me back. I cant deny the feelings tht have been developing between us, but it may be just infatuation or attraction on his part, it doesnt has to be love. I've once mistaken his friendship for love, but i cant afford it again, i cant handle another heart break, for th same reason, n by the same person"

"Ridzi, u really think its not love, then i just hope u see things clearly, before it is too late, i dont want to see u lose him again Ridzi, he deserves u, n u also deserve him, come out of ur fears Ridzi, n u'll see the love he holds for u", Anjali said,

"Anjie, even if i take ur word for it, even if my heart does starts to believe it, then what abt last night, dont u remember what had happened after everyone had left?"

Anjali recalled the event abt which Riddhima was talking, n a fear surrounded her too.

FLASHBACK:

Riddhima and Anjali had byes to Nikki n Muskaan, who were staying at the Gupta Mansion tht night. They were crossing the study, when they heard some noises. They were surprised as they recognised one of the voice. They decided to overhear the converstaion out of curiousity, what they heard next, shocked them both.

FLASHBACK ENDS

"But Ridzi, u cud atleast try talking to him about...", Anjali said,

"No Anjie, u heard him, didnt u, its no use talking now", Riddhima said in a sad voice,

"I just hope Ridzi everything is fine, becoz Armaan is the one for u, otherwise, i dont even wanna think abt what will happen. I hope for the best Ridzi, for u", saying this, Anjali left.

"I really hope for once u r right Anjie, and i am wrong, i hope from the deepest core of my heart", Riddhima said to herself.
