Is Riddhima really that great? And what about DMG?

Dr. Riddhima Gupta is the protagonist of my once-upon-a-time favourite show Dill Mill Gayye. Now as I look back to the journey of the show I try analyzing this character just like everyone else as well as try to figure out what she means to those around her. Riddhima as we all know from the very beginning has been a confused, self-pitying, i-am-always-right-and-the-world-had-been-unfair-to-me kind of girl. Having Riddhima changed twice I realise I was never really in love with Riddhima but the actresses who played her. Since I do not have a soft corner for Jennifer like I did for Shilpa and Sukku I can critically analyze the character better because my love for the actor does not overshadow my judgement of the character (no offense to Jennifer fans...just because I don't have a soft corner for Jennifer does not mean I don't like her at all.) So coming back to Ridzy. I have been wondering ever since I started watching DMG again (after Rids' n Sid's marriage) that is Riddhima really that great a person which has been potrayed? 3 guys falling madly in love with her (Armaan, Sid and Sumit) and 2 guys smitten by her (Abhi and Rahul); the favourite daughter, the favourite in her group of friends, everyone having a soft corner for her so much so that they side with her even when she is wrong, etc. Yes, so many times we have seen that Riddhima is the clear wrong one but yet her friends have sided with her and not the other one ( be it Armaan or Sid.) Riddhima we all know is a fictional charater. But just suppose she really existed I doubt this would have been the status of the lady. I am not saying that Riddhima is a devil and not likeable. NO! Not at all. She has her own set of positive points. (forget the fact that these have been crushed by the Cvs presently) Nonetheless she is not THAT great a person who everyone likes to this extent. She does not come across as a person who 5 guys can fall for and everyone looks up to. 1 guy falling for her is fine(she's not that bad also!) even 2 (most shows work on love triangles) but 5???? Riddhima is not at all doodh ki dhuli! She is definately a good friend and a good daughter but not an ideal one. She is definitely not the Epitome of a Lady, the Gem of a Person. I always liked DMG for the fact that it showed that even protagonists have grey shades, their own negative qualities. Riddhima, Armaan, Sid and all others have their positive as well as negative qualities. But showing negative qualities of Riddhima and still showing her as a pure person in other people's eyes does not make sense.
DMG can never be what it used to be. Specially not after the ridiculous precap! I frankly like both Sid and Armaan a lot and wouldn't have minded if Rids would have ended up with either one provided SHE WAS NOT MARRIED TO SID. Now that she is married I feel she should go with Sid. I am very sensitive about my Indian culture and traditions and the values inculcated in me. I would definitely not accept Rids leaving Sid. But now seeing the whole AR hubby-wife sh*t I don't care! When Sukku left, I stopped watching DMG but it hadn't ended for me like it had for most Sukku and KaSu fans. But after the precap it has ended for me. Cvs have made a mockery out of my values and have questioned the principles every Indian girl is brought up with. Sid-Rids marriage was justified in its own way to some extent. But taking vows with one's ex-flame with one's husband watching the crap...I am sorry its a BIG question mark on the purity and institution of marriage! Ekta Kapoor at least had reasons like bad marriage for marrying her leads 10 times but DMG doesn't. A little more time and I am sure that Sidma's marriage would've worked out. I don't know who Rids will choose and now I don't even care! Let her go to anyone the Cvs decide its their problem now not mine! DMG is finished! No KSG or KW can fill the scar on the Indian culture, values or traditions. Thank God its a youth-based show and is targeting an audience which does not believe in these morals thanks to their quest to get 'modern'. Unfortunately for me I am one of those very few teens who thinks that before modern she has to be Indian first and so I will not accept what is happpening in DMG. For this very reason I never followed any saas-bahu soap. I trusted DMG and even MJHT for that matter to be different. But alas! While DMG has let down my Indian principles, MJHT has turned all its girls into annoying, unreasonable, immature and stupid freaks!
It was bad enough to hear people around me being proud of the fact that they know ABC better than ka kha ga and now this mockery of my country! It hurts to realise that this is the reason India does not have a separate identity. And now I think its high time I shut up. I am sorry guys! Once I started I couldn't stop! But I hope you all understand my feeling and forgive me for behaving so badly. If you are still reading then thank you for sitting through what may have been a torture for you but meant a lot to me.
