Neil Nitin Mukesh is one actor who has taken the less treaded path when it comes to his roles in films. Be it 'Johnny Gaddar', 'New York' or 'Jail', Neil has dared to go beyond the safe, tried and tested roles that any newcomer in the industry finds comfort in. The Result: The four films old Neil has carved a body of work that others would spend years to achieve.
Ask him it was a conscious decision or luck that such different scripts came his way and pat comes the reply, "Of course it was a deliberate effort. I was offered two films when I entered the industry. One was 'Johnny Gaddar' and one more film, which is a big blockbuster. But when I went through 'Johnny...' script, I decided this has to be my debut film."
Neil's conviction about choosing the most challenging roles has truly made him one of the brightest stars we have today. And the dude wants to keep his audience's entertained with the kind of cinema they have loved him in. We ask him if he is open to play a gay character and without much pondering the actor confidently replies, "Why not? I will take up a gay role if a good script comes my way." Neil is also open to the idea of doing a kissing or an intimate scene with a male co-star, but he has his conditions.
"It all depends on whose handling the scene. I won't do it for mockery, I won't do it if it's sleazy. But if it's a strong emotion, I surely will have no problems," declares Neil, further adding, "I went all bare for Madhur Bhandarkar. 'Jail' isn't a sleazy film; in fact that particular scene depicted a very strong emotion."
With his perfect body and killer looks and impressive acting skills, Neil is not just a hot favourite with his female fans abut is also a gay icon. And the star feels extremely lucky to receive all the love. "I take it as a huge compliment that they like me and appreciate my work. We shouldn't forget that they are human beings too. Be it appreciation coming from my female fans or gay fans; I will be equally happy," Neil signs off.
