Radio gives thanks to the music

Welcome to the Airtel Mirchi Music Awards ' Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM's second edition of the popular felicitation ceremony of maestros from the Indian music industry.
It's being held at the Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai tonight, a venue where such big names in music as Latino singers Shakira and Enrique Iglesias performed, and with as much pomp and glitter as befitting a gala film industry nite with the stars. And why not, because the award function will not only see talent getting its due, but it will also witness some of Bollywood's most eminent singers and musicians creating magic live on stage.
The jury for this, the country's biggest music awards show, is as distinguished a list of film industry biggies as you may get.
They include doyens of the Indian music industry like Javed Akhtar ' chairman of the jury committee, and members Aadesh Shrivastava, Alka Yagnik, Anu Malik, Kailash Kher, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Lalit Pandit, Louis Banks, Prasoon Joshi, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Ramesh Sippy, Shankar Mahadevan, Subhash Ghai, Sadhna Sargam, Sukhwinder Singh and Suresh Wadkar. All of whom put their heads together to come up with the winners' names in salutation of the nominees' hard work, passion and immense creative talent. It was an unenviable task because the awards run into categories like Best Song, Best Album, Male Vocalist, Female Vocalist, Music Director, Airtel Mirchi Listeners' Choice ' Best Song of the Year, Airtel Mirchi Listeners' Choice ' Best Album of the Year, Special Jury Award For Exceptional Non-film Music Achievement, Best Background Score, Upcoming Singer ' Male, and Upcoming singer ' Female. There are also going to be awards for Lifetime Achievement, Jury Award for Outstanding Contribution to Hindi Film Music and the K L Saigal Sangeet Shehenshah Award.
In between the award distribution, there will also performances by Kay Kay, Sunidhi Chauhan, Himesh Reshammiya, Usha Uthup and Rekha Bhardwaj. Katrina Kaif and Shahid Kapoor will burn the stage with some groovy moves. And you will be privileged to watch India's biggest music awards show at a later date when it gets telecast exclusively on Sony. The title sponsor for the awards is Airtel; associate sponsors include LIC, Airfone and Parle Krack Jack; indulgence partner is Galaxy; style partner is Dell; exclusive travel partner is Make My Trip; snack partner is Lays; outdoor partner is Bright Advertising; and beverage partner is United Spirits Limited.
