Kripa looks at him and hugs him, the door opens, everyone except KK and Roshni stand up, Angad rushes over to the doctor
A - is my son ok?
D - we have stopped the bleeding but...
K - but what?
Part 35
Nine pairs of eyes look at the doctor anxiously, he places a hand on Angad's shoulder and frowns
D - I'm sorry Mr Khanna but your son has gone in to a coma
Everyone is shocked, KK looks up, he gets up and walks over to Angad
KK - dad, I want to see Karan
K - no!
A - Kripa...
K - he's already done enough
KK looks at Kripa
KK - mom please
Kripa glances away from KK, he looks towards Angad who nods his head then looks back at the doctor
A - is it alright if he goes to see his brother?
D - yes but only for a while
KK follows the doctor in to Karan's room, he feels sad seeing Karan lying on the bed lifelessly, he sits next to him and takes his hand in his
KK - Karan, I'm sorry bro, I really am, I didn't know what came over me, but don't punish me like this, please get up
KK glances at Karan who doesn't move, he slowly rests his head on Karan's arm until Angad comes and takes him away.
**3 Months Later**
Karan has been in a coma for the past three months, within that time Aryan revealed how KK and Roshni fell in love, how Karan and Tia fell in love and how he and Ria fell in love, although Prithvi and Sujal wanted to wait Angad and Kripa convinced them to get Aryan and Ria engaged, so they did 2 months ago, Tia has spent most of her time in Karan's room waiting for him to wake up, and just like any other day she comes to the hospital, she replaces the flowers in his room and looks towards him lying on the bed
T - good morning Karan, look isn't it a beautiful day?
Tia opens the curtains letting the light flood in to the room, she glances at Karan but he doesn't move, she sits by him and takes his hand in hers
T - its been 3 months Karan, why won't you wake up? do you enjoy seeing me suffer every day? mum and dad know everything now, and I'm sure that as soon as you wake up they will get us engaged like Aryan and Ria
Tia's phone rings, she answers and its Ria
Ri - hey we're in town doing some shopping, do you need anything?
T - no, I'm fine Di
Ria hangs up she looks towards Aryan who is standing by the wall holding several shopping bags
Ar - does she want anything?
Ri - no
Ar - good, then can we go home?
Ri - just because she said she doesn't want anything, doesn't mean we shouldn't get her anything
Ar - Ria!!!
Ri - don't Ria me, lets go
Ria walks ahead, Aryan moans and follows her into another shop, Ria selects clothes for Tia then takes them to the till where she pays for them with Aryan's credit card, she takes the bags and hands them to Aryan, he glares at her
Ar - yeah go ahead, put them on my head, I think there's some space there, why don't you hold them?
Ri - if I hold them then who will hold the door open for you?
Aryan stands there looking baffled while Ria walks off, he slowly follows her, she turns around and sees him staring at a jacket in a shop, she walks over to him
Ri - you are allowed to buy something for yourself
Aryan glances at her
Ar - oh really? are you sure? somehow I doubt there's enough money left over for me, I think I should just get them to send the bills to your house
Ri - funny....so do you want the jacket?
Ar - no, I was just thinking...it would look good on KK....
Aryan looks sad, Ria rolls her eyes
Ri - why mention him if you're going to get upset
Ar - never mind
Aryan hands Ria the bags, she waits outside while he goes inside and buys the jacket, he comes out and takes the bags from Ria and they both head back home. At the hospital Tia is sitting by Karan's bed with her eyes closed feeling tired, she is still holding Karan's hand when she feels some movement, she opens her eyes and looks around her but no one is there, she dismisses the thought and sighs but then she feels the movement again this time she knows where its coming from, she looks down and Karan's hand and sees it moving, tears form in her eyes, she holds Karan face
T - Karan, do you hear me? Karan, open your eyes, Karan!
Tia's tears fall on Karan's face, his eyes open slowly, Tia is crying with happiness, he blinks several times as he adjusts to the light, he stares at her for a brief moment, he whispers something but she doesn't hear, she leans closer
Kar - KK...
Suddenly Karan's breathing becomes erratic, the machines start beeping, Tia panics, she runs out of the room and starts yelling
T - someone come quickly! somebody call a doctor!!!
The doctor comes running
D - what's the problem
T - he's awake!!!
The doctor enters Karan's room and starts to check him, the nurses make Tia leave the room, she is sitting on the chair outside when the door opens, the doctor walks out and Tia stands up
T - is he ok?
D - congratulations, you should call his family, he's awake now
Tia runs in to the room, Karan is being helped by the nurse to sit up straight, the nurse leaves and Tia runs to Karan and hugs him, he hugs her back and kisses her forehead softly
T - I'm so happy you're awake
Kar - I can tell
T - I have to phone home, and phone your parents
Tia leaves the room, she calls everyone, soon enough the hospital room is filled, Tia is sitting by Karan holding his hand, Kripa is standing on the other side with Angad crying, Ria and Aryan are standing by the foot of the bed, Suhana and Prithvi are standing beside Sujal and Kashish whilst Roshni is silently standing away from everyone, they all start asking Karan questions but Angad makes them be quiet
A - how are you feeling Karan?
Kar - I'm ok dad, how long has it been?
Ar - 3 months dude
Kar - what have I missed?
Ar - firstly....this
Aryan holds Ria's hand up showing her ring
Kar - you guys are engaged?
Ri - yeah
Ar - sorry....we had it without you
S - we tried to convince Angad to wait, but he insisted we have the engagement as soon as possible, I put my foot down and said we wouldn't have the wedding until you were awake
Kar - congrats dude, come here
Aryan goes over to Karan and hugs him. Aryan goes back to Ria, Karan scans the room
K - is everything ok?
Kar - mom....where's KK?
Karan looks at Kripa, she looks elsewhere, Angad tenses up, Karan looks at everyone, they all stay silent, Roshni who had been standing alone finally speaks
R - he's not here
Karan strains his neck to see her, Aryan and Ria move out of the way so that Karan sees Roshni clearly
Kar - where is he then?
Roshni looks at him with he glum face
R - he's in a mental hospital
Karan looks confused, he looks at Angad then back at Roshni
Kar - what?
R - yeah, a mental hospital, because some people thought he shouldn't be allowed to stay in society after he tried to kill you
Roshni's eyes dart towards Kripa and Angad
S - Roshni!
Roshni shakes her head at Sujal and walks out, Karan begins hyperventilating
Kar - I want to see him
A - Karan, calm down, you're not supposed to stress
Kar - I want to see my brother!
K - why? he tried to kill you
Kar - so? he tried to kill me but does that change the fact that he's my brother? and what about you mum? he's your son, instead of supporting him when he needed you, you just sent him away, don't you think that'll affect him more!
Ar - Karan listen, you need to calm down, look as soon as you're better, I'll take you myself, just calm down
T - yeah Karan, I can't lose you again
Karan looks at Tia and calms down, she rests her head on his shoulder, he kisses her hair lightly, the nurse comes
N - I'm sorry but the patient needs rest
Everyone leaves, Karan closes his eyes and rests his head against the wall thinking of KK. Over the next few days Karan's health improves, Aryan comes to see him
Kar - Aryan, what exactly happened that night?
Ar - what night?
Kar - when KK tried to....
Ar - oh, well after we took you to the hospital and the doctor told us you went in to a coma we all went back to your house......
***Flashback***
Everyone is sitting in the living room of the Khanna Mansion, KK is sitting silently next to Roshni, the others are lost in thought worried about Karan when Kripa stands up, she starts to pull the decorations down, Angad rushes to her
A - what are you doing Kripa!
K - we don't need these decorations anymore! what's the use of them being here
Kripa continues pulling them down, Angad holds her by her shoulders
A - calm down Kripa
Kripa pulls away from him
K - how can I calm down!!!! my son is lying in hospital unconcious.....and not because of some stranger but because of his brother!!
Kripa is fuming with anger, she sees KK sitting there mindlessly, she goes over to him and pulls him to his feet
K - why are you just sitting here for? why aren't you speaking for? do you even feel any remorse for what you have done?
Angad pulls Kripa away from KK, Roshni stands by KK protectively
R - what was he supposed to do? he loves me
Ka - Roshni, it's best if you stay out of it
R - but mum....
Ka - Roshni!
Roshni sits back down, Kripa goes over to KK and starts pulling him
A - Kripa what are you doing?
K - I am not having him in this house, not after what he did
A - Kripa are you insane?
Suhana and Kashish rush over to her
Su - Kripa, he's your son, you can't just throw him out
Ka - where is he supposed to go?
K - I don't care...what can I do? how can I look at him everyday knowing he tried to kill my other son?
Kripa breaks down, she falls to the floor crying, Angad holds her, he looks at KK and just watches as he mindlessly walks over to the table, he gets a tissue and holds it out to Kripa, she looks at him in disgust
P - Aryan, take KK upstairs
Aryan takes KK upstairs, Prithvi looks at Ria and Tia, they leave the room with Roshni, the others stay in the room
S - he doesn't know what is going on around him
P - it's like his brain just stopped the moment he saw Karan falling to the ground
A - what does that mean?
S - I don't know, we'll call a doctor to check him tomorrow
The doctor comes and checks KK, he goes outside to Angad, Sujal and Prithvi
D - it seems as if his brain has shut down, he can do the normal every day stuff, eat, sleep, but apart from that he has stopped processing everything
A - so what do you recommend?
D - I'm not sure you'll like it
S - what is it?
D - the best treatment for him would be in a mental hospital
A - what! my son isn't mad!
D - I know Mr Khanna, but like I said it is the best treatment for him
The doctor leaves, Sujal informs everyone of their decision to send KK to the mental hospital
R - are you out of your mind? KK needs his family now more than ever
A - I don't like this decision anymore than you, but it is what is best for KK
Ar - but chachu....
A - the decision has been made, there's no changing it
Roshni runs upstairs to KK's room, she hugs him and cries, the doctors from the mental hospital come to take KK away, Roshni is hysterical, she clings on to KK as they drag him away, Kashish and Suhana hold her, she along with Aryan, Ria and Tia watch helplessly as KK is sat in to a van, Roshni somehow manages to free herself from Kashish's grip, she runs outside and runs after the van, she falls to the ground and watches the van disappear
**Reality**
Ar - she hasn't been the same since, she's always sitting quietly, she goes college, comes back and sits in her room, doesn't talk to anyone unless necessary
Kar - does she go see him?
Ar - she did at first but then dad told her she couldn't
Kar - why not?
Ar - he doesn't want her to have anything to do with him
Kar - who goes to see him?
Ar - I do most days with Ria, Angad chachu goes everyday
Kar - what about mum?
Ar - never....not once, she blames him
Karan nods his head, a few days later he is discharged, Aryan and Ria go to collect him as everyone else is preparing for his welcome home party, Aryan and Ria are sitting in the front while Karan is in the back
Kar - hey before we go home, I want to see KK
Ar - ok
Ria reaches out and puts a CD on, she doesn't like the song so she changes it but doesn't like that one either and changes it, Aryan hits her hand
Ar - can't you leave it on one song?
Ri - what can I do, your songs are so boring
Ar - excuse me, my songs are awesome
Ri - yeah if you're a 50 year old man
Ar - really? then why are you with me?
Ri - what can I do? no other girl is willing to have you, I'm stuck with you
Aryan switches the music off and looks ahead, Ria smiles at his expression, she leans forward and kisses his cheek, Aryan smiles, he takes Ria's hand and kisses it
Kar - so what's the story with you two? how did everyone find out about you?
Ar - well after what happened I figured there was no use in hiding it, so I told them
Kar - and now you're engaged
Ri - yeah, it's a shame you missed it!
Kar - give me details, it'll be like I was there
Ria grins, she turns in her seat and looks at Karan
Ri - ok, I was wearing this pink and gold lengha suit, Aryan was wearing a beige and gold shervani, Tia was wearing that blue lengha you gifted her rememeber?
Kar - you'll have to show me pictures, what about Roshni?
Ri - she was wearing this yellow suit, her heart wasn't in it, she didn't really want to be there
Kar - I can imagine
Ri - yeah so it was a small get together, my family, his family, your family, and your chachu Neev
Karan nods his head
Ri - anyways it was time to exchange the rings right....Kashish aunty hands Aryan the ring to give to me
Ria starts giggling
R - so I hold my hand out and this duffer goes and puts the ring on the wrong finger, Kashish aunty had to tell him what he did, he was like "oh crap" and then put it on the right finger
Karan starts laughing, Aryan shakes his head
Ri - yeah so then when mum gave me the ring for him, Kashish aunty told him to put his hand out and this guy....went and put his right hand forward, Sujal chachu had to tell him to put his other hand forward
Ria and Karan laugh, Ria sits forward again
Ar - I was nervous!!
Ri - really? you weren't nervous when you told me you loved me
Ar - our parents weren't there then
Ri - whatever
They arrive to the mental hospital, Karan feels nervous, Aryan looks at Ria
Ar - stay in the car, I'll take him
Aryan and Karan get out of the car and walk towards the building
Ar - whatever you see in there, don't get freaked, and stay close to me ok
Karan nods his head while Aryan leads them inside
Coming up - how will Karan react seeing KK?
