'Terrorists' attack Pakistani actress Meera!

Pakistani actress Meera is seeking protection from the Punjab Government, following a recent "terrorists" attack on her house.

The star said that she was under constant threat from a special group of terrorists under the ringleader namely Attiqur Rehman, her former business partner.

"The terrorists attacked my house aiming to abduct and kill me," the Nation quoted her saying at her DHA residence.

Though the man wasn't eventually successful in his attempt, a terrified Meera immediately called up her mentor in Bollywood, Mahesh Bhatt, and cried for help.

Confirms Mahesh Bhatt, "Yes, Meera did call from Lahore. Some guy claiming to be her husband tried to break into her home and kill her! She needs help."

Meera revealed that she had been assured of adequate security by Punjab Governor Salman Taseer, but she had turned to the Punjab Chief Minister for protection.

She alleged that Attiqur, rumoured to be her husband, began threatening her after she withdrew from the business.

Her marriage was revealed on Sunday after her business partner, Attiqur Rehman, claimed that he had contracted marriage with the actress in September 2007, providing documentary evidence of the same.

Attiq made these claims after accusing Meera's mother and his (supposed) mother-in-law, Shafqat Begum, of secretly shifting some antique furniture from his home without his permission.

According to reports in the local media, Attiq had filed a complaint against Shafqat Begum at the Defence-A Police Station whose SHO Inspector Abid Rasheed confirmed that he had seen the nikahnama (marriage certificate), according to which the marriage was solemnised on September 2, 2007 and also registered with the local union council.

The SHO further said that verified the claim after questioning the nikahkhawan in Makkah Colony, who had performed the nikah. Pictures of the marriage were also reportedly released to some TV channels.

Meanwhile, Meera has denied the news of her marriage, adding that Attiq was merely a former business partner who has been threatening her ever since she withdrew from the business. At a press conference called at her house in DHA Lahore on Sunday, she called him a 'terrorist' who 'attacked her house, aiming to abduct and kill her.'

On the day of the incident, she alleged that more than 10 gangsters attacked her house and tortured her brother-in-law and sister. She said she was fortunately out of the house as the terrorists intended to kill her.

'I have been continuously receiving threatening calls by a special group of terrorists headed by Attiqur Rehman,' she said, and demanded security from the Punjab government.

However, when Attiq contacted the police on 'Emergency 15', he said his father-in-law, mother-in-law and their other son -in-law, Raheel, were beating him.

The actress further said that Governor Punjab Salman Taseer had assured her protection but she demanded the Chief Minister of Punjab to provide her security.
