Music director Sandeep Chowta is back from his three-year sabbatical. This time he is going to score music for South director Hemant Madhurkar's film Flat. Chowta says that for the first time in the history of Hindi film music, an album containing just one song will be released. "There will be one song and various versions to it. For instance, there is a club version, a lounge version and many more. Of course, it is debatable as to who will buy a CD containing just one song in different versions. But the song is very catchy. The music company plans to price the CD at one-fourth the normal price. I think that should encourage people to buy it," he informs. Currently busy with the editing of the music video that should hit the channels soon, Chowta says that this is the first time that a song is going to be aired four months before the actual album is released. "We want the number to catch up with the masses," he says. Chowta says that the film Flat will have more Western music because the film is a thriller. "Just like we often see in Hollywood, the song is played in the background for not more than 40 seconds. I plan to do something similar with Flat," he adds.Chowta had last scored music for Ram Gopal Varma's Company. Where had he disappeared all this while? Is he feeling disillusioned about the way the film industry is functioning? Chowta laughs and says, "Yes, people are unprofessional here. But whatever I did I think I scored full marks for that. I gave Yana Gupta the number Babuji in the film Dum that helped her rake in money for three years. I gave Isha Koppikar Khallas in the film Company and the next thing we know is that Isha was the most talked about actress. Even the Laila number in Samay could have helped that item girl rake in enough moolah but it was just that she was not interested in doing shows." Speaking about his future plans Sandeep says, "I am also going to score music for the 2008 Olympics." |
