Aashish Chowdhry and fiance Samita Bangargi will tie the knot on January 27. Chowdhry didn't want a big shaadi but gave in to Bangargi's wish of a big, fat wedding. Says Chowdhry, "We have been looking forward to it for sometime now."
After eight years, this Bollywood couple will take the traditional saat pheras on January 27
Adds Bangargi, "While shooting for Shaadi Ka Laddoo we were overwhelmed by the idea of getting married but we postponed it to focus on our careers."
Spats to romance
Their first meeting? Bangargi says, "We were the first Indian hosts for a Walt Disney show. Initially, we had lots of tiffs. Gradually, we evolved as best friends and then he asked me out."
Samita is Ashish's 'pillar of strength'. "Samita introduced me to the profession and inspired me saying I'll make a fine actor. So I thought why not get the pillar to support my roof now," he laughs.
Zayed was the cataylst
Good friend Zayed Khan convinced Chowdhry to take the plunge. "He makes marriage sound so blissful," he adds. Fight Club hits the screen on his wedding day and producer Sohail Khan has devised a plan for Ashish. "Sohail is like a brother and he'll see to it that I devote enough time to both the events," he says.

Rocky's touch: A cat suit for the sangeet and the Spanish gown for the brunch |
The sangeet ceremony on January 25 at Poison will kickstart the celebrations followed by the pheras and reception on January 27 at Taj Lands End.
The post-wedding events include a Sunday white brunch that includes raising a toast and cutting a three-tier cake at Salt Water Grill on January 29.
Says Bangargi, "I'd always dreamt of a white wedding at a beach in Goa. But I settled for the brunch keeping in mind our parents' sentiments."
Rocky S and Vikram Phadnis are at work on her trousseau. Her sangeet dress is a cat suit with Indian work and a flowy Spanish dress for the brunch. Phadnis has created a bright chiffon saree for the reception. And a green-and-gold navvari saree for the wedding. Ashish is yet to decide his clothes.
What about exchanging gifts? The couple replied in unison, "What better gift than myself." Explains Chowdhry, "People who have been dating too long start behaving like a brother and sister and that's how we landed up with the same answer."
