A completely new cast of established actors have been introduced in a one-month-old soap to boost its TRPs; so far the soap had only fresh faces | ||

The world of small screen is no longer what it used to be earlier. Now, the channels are hell-bent on keeping track of their TRPs regularly and in the process all the soaps are scanned every week in terms of their performance. Zee TV's Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo is a case in example. The show started a month ago and has been garnering good TRPs. However, the ratings have not escalated and are stagnating at 3.7. Now, to prevent the rating from dipping, the show is introducing a new cast of established actors. Till now the show had only fresh faces. The story is about a 17-year-old girl Laali's optimism about life and her courage and compassion when it comes to rescuing her family from poverty. Due to a sudden crisis in her family, her parents are forced to sell her to the Thakurs. The Thakur's house is where the new faces — Rupa Ganguly, Sushmita Mukherjee, Sudesh Berry, Anjoom Farooqui, Lovleena Tandon to name a few — fit in. These characters have been added to boost the TRPs. The show's creative head and script writer, Virendra Sahani says, "Though the show is doing wonders, now its time to take it a step further. Selling of a girl in the midst of abject poverty got us lot of eyeballs and to encash on the situation we roped in Rupa Ganguly, Sushmita Mukherjee, Sudesh Berry and others. The story is taking such a turn that we need very intense actors to do justice to the characters." |
