Monday marked the first day of the shoot of what is claimed to be the first one-hour daily soap on Indian television.
The drama, tentatively titled Khush Raho Tum Sada, is produced by the Adhikari Brothers, and slated to air in February or March, in Sony's afternoon slot. It is the desi version of a Western telenovella.
The lead stars of the show include model-turned-actress Anupama Verma, and Anuj Saxena (Abhay of Kkusum, Karan of Kumkum). The cast also includes
WHO ME? Anuj Saxena
Gaurav Gera (Nandu of Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin) and Gaurav Chanana (Raj of Hey…Yehi To Hai Woh!).
The shoot took place at producer Boney Kapoor's estranged wife Mona Kapoor's new studio, Future Studio 2, in Goregaon. "We had the opening of the studio yesterday morning. This is the first show to be shot here. Future Studio 2 consists of an entire building and they have booked one floor for an entire year for the shoot," says Kapoor.
The daily revolves around a middle-class man, Suhas (Saxena), and his three sisters. After an accident that claims his parents, Suhas has to shoulder the responsibilites of his sisters. Doing so creates conflicts with his wife (Verma). Gera plays the elder sister's husband, while Chanana is the younger sister's boyfriend.
Saxena gave a look test with Varma last week and was offered the lead role. The actor is back on Sony post his exit from Kkusum. When asked about the new show, he says, "Yes, I have shot for it but it is too early to talk about it. It's a big change for me to play a middle-class character, after playing a flamboyant business baron in Kkusum and Kumkum."
