Ramanand Sagar: a filmmaker per excellence

There had been great moments with our favourite serial "Ramayan". Diverse people have become friends in this forum because of their love for Ramayan, there had been fights regarding old and new Ramayan, but everything that occurred had the central point "Ramayan". We owe all this to Sagar Arts, founded by Late Dr. Ramanand Sagar. A mythologist per excellence, it'ld be great, if we discuss and share our views about him especially after his birthday (Dec.29)

I have some basic informations about him:

Ramanand Sagar was born on Dec. 29, 1917 near Lahore. His original name was Chandramauli Chopra. He is the founder of Sagar Arts and had produced great movies like Ankhen, Arzoo, Geet, Charas to name a few. He won the Filmfare best director award for Ankhen in 1968.

He started off in television with Vikram aur Betaal, simultaneously he produced-directed the mega series Ramayan. His last venture was Saibaba and the noble soul left the earth in 2005.
