Sonu's brilliant voice leaves listeners spellbound and some of his greatest hits include playback singing for stars like Shahrukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Ajay Devgan and many more. He has received many accolades for his playback singing in films such as Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, Refugee, Saathiya, Dil Chahta Hai and Fiza. Sonu's Indipop career took off with two successful albums - Deewana & Jaan. An unmatched melodious voice coupled with good looks and a dynamic personality, made him a household name. A bundle of versatility and talents, he has recently set foot in the acting arena as well.

Sonu Nigam is the youngest Indian to be honored as the Honorary Citizen of Texas and Goodwill Ambassador of India (1996). Sonu has released more than 10,000 film songs in various Indian languages, predominantly in Hindi, over a span of 13 years. This young, immensely talented and humble singer is presently celebrating the success of his latest album Chanda Ki Doli and is all set for his second stint with Indian Idol Series 2 as a judge along with music director Anu Malik and choreographer turned director Farah Khan. As he has gone through similar trials and tribulations that these budding contestant will go through, he does complete justice to his task as a Judge.

Speaking on Indian Idol Series 2 Sonu says, 'This year I am going to be very concerned with my judging and the feedback I will be giving the contestants. It is going to be a difficult task as the benchmark has been set last year and expectations are much higher this year. The responsibility is very high and I will be a lot more cautious at the time of making a decision'.
