Why are we supposed to treat Aishwarya Rai as beyond criticism?

Have people really forgotten her controversies and scandalous past? She made her career by dating some of the most powerful men in Bollywood (Subhash Ghai, Salman Khan, Amitabh Bachchan) for her own gain.

Even during her prime, she was a PR-hyped beauty and a PR-made star.

She has gotten away with everything under the guise of being beautiful and being the perpetual victim of everyone else.

She is praised as a “good daughter” for prioritizing her parents, while Abhishek is mocked as a “mama’s boy” simply for being close to his parents.

If people comment on why she hasn’t lost weight despite being a model with access to every resource to stay fit and healthy, her fans say that she’s a “good mother” who is simply too busy taking care of her one daughter.

If people point out her bad outfits, over-the-top makeup, or tacky wigs, her fans say that her in-laws are responsible for her terrible fashion choices.

If people point out that she lied on the Tyra Banks show when she claimed she had never endorsed skin-lightening creams, despite having endorsed Fair & Lovely in the ’90s, Lux whitening soap and L’Oréal Pearl Perfect whitening cream in the 2000s, her fans defend her lies.

If people question why she has no friendships in Bollywood and has strained relationships with everyone in her family except her mother and daughter, her fans insist that everyone else is toxic, jealous, and at fault, while of course she is the innocent one who can do no wrong.

Personally, I wouldn’t place her among the 20 most beautiful Bollywood actresses. She's not a natural beauty and has managed to look pretty in only 3-4 films like HDDCS, Devdas, and Jodha Akbar where she had the help of elaborate makeup, costumes, lighting, and styling.

Her interviews are often a cringe fest. She comes across as incredibly full of herself, going on and on about her beauty and supposed superiority, as though she is a blessing to the world. She also has a habit of making grand “first” claims, including lies about being the youngest Padma Shri recipient, the first actress to work in films during pregnancy, the first Indian at Cannes, the first Indian L’Oréal model, and obviously being the first choice for every movie.

Most of the time, she comes across as rude and behaves dismissively with the host in interviews, but her PR conveniently repackages it as being “sassy” and a “Queen.”

She’s not a gold-digger. She’s an opportunistic social climber who was portrayed by Indian and international media as cold and calculating during the period when she was involved with Vivek and Abhishek. She dumped Vivek to get married into the Bachchan family so she could exploit their legacy. She has undoubtedly benefited from the Bachchan surname, connections, and influence.

She has made millions from brand endorsements but hasn't donated anything to charity. Her income-tax evasion disputes have been publicly reported since the 1990s. She has been under Enforcement Directorate scrutiny since 2016 for Panama Papers.

If she chooses to appear in public, she is naturally going to be subject to criticism like any other celebrity.

But unlike with other celebrities, when it comes to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, there always seems to be someone else to blame: the stylist, designers, makeup artist, hairdresser, husband, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, ex-boyfriends, fellow actresses, income-tax department, Bollywood as a whole, and even the country itself. Somehow, she is never held responsible for anything. Because you know, she's a victim in every situation.

She’s still playing the victim card over an alleged abuse that never happened!

At this point, she should just add “victim” to her name. Or maybe we should give her a National Award for "Best Victim" given how she presents herself as a helpless victim after she's done using people.

What exactly was she trying to portray with that Filmfare awards-show drama? Black eyeshadow beneath sunglasses being used to suggest a black eye, and a cheap, brown leather bracelet presented as a medical cast?

Since her intention was to portray that she had been beaten/physically assaulted/abused which resulted in a fractured arm and a black eye, why did she conveniently wore brown-tinted sunglasses that make the area beneath the lenses look dark instead of showing it openly? Her arms also look completely fine in the photographs, with no obvious visible signs of abuse or a fracture. And look at her smiling and prancing around on stage!

Much to her frustration, her shoddily put together display to fool people failed to convince anyone and proves nothing.

It must've stung when the entire industry chose to distance itself from her lies and continues to support and celebrate that man as Being Human. Her in-laws choose to remain friends with that man. Her sister-in-law gushes about that man being her first crush. And then there’s the best part: her husband goes out of his way to hug that man.

Now, she's using her PR to push the narrative that Bollywood “betrayed” her because they decided to distance themselves from her manipulative lies. The Queen’s sense of entitlement is truly on another level!
