November 6 will be a huge match up!!!!
It is not a long shot to say within India Godzilla Minus Zero will not have much of a presence because of Ramayana but based on only the marketing for Ramayana, the Indian market is not what the makers are aiming for.
Based on the huge budget of Ramayana, they need the global market to even have a chance of recovering the budget. They are not going to break even, even with both movies, the best they can do is recover the budget with both the theatrical releases.
There is literally zero buzz for Ramayana in America. No one is talking about it at all. The trailer didn't make an impact, the comic con appearance made no difference, and even Youtube channels that covered the teaser did not cover the trailer, not even the English trailer they released. But I am actually shocked by the lack of buzz around Ramayana from the Indian channels, forums, reddit etc.. I am not going to make any predictions about the Indian box office for Ramayana but the global market is not looking good.
Godzilla Minus Zero, on the other hand, just had a trailer release and the buzz around it is actually palpable. The trailer was entirely in Japanese, they did not release an English trailer, but non Japanese people are buzzing about the movie. People are genuinely excited about Godzilla and it's because of the good will of the first movie and the Godzilla brand.
I personally am more excited for Godzilla Minus Zero because I loved the first movie and because I have not liked much of the promotional stuff they have put out Ramayana. But I will be seeing both that weekend.
What about you guys, will you be seeing both movies or just one, and do you guys think Ramayana has a chance at earning a significant amount of money outside of India?
