Rishi Raj Kapoor (4 September 1952 - 30 April 2020)[3] was an Indian actor, and filmmaker who worked in Hindi cinema.[4][5] Kapoor was the recipient of several accolades, including a National Film Award and four Filmfare Awards.

Born into the Kapoor family,[6] he made his debut, as an adolescent, in his father Raj Kapoor's film Mera Naam Joker, for which he won the National Film Award for Best Child Artist.[7] As an adult, his first lead role was opposite Dimple Kapadia in the teen romance Bobby, which won him the Filmfare Award for Best Actor. Between 1973 and 2000, Kapoor starred as the romantic lead in 92 films.[8] He starred in several successful films from the mid-1970s to the 1990s, such as Kabhi Kabhie, Laila Majnu, Amar Akbar Anthony, Hum Kisise Kum Nahin, Sargam, Naseeb, Kaatilon Ke Kaatil, Prem Rog, Coolie, Nagina, Chandni, Henna, Deewana, Bol Radha Bol and Damini.[9] He also received acclaim for his performances in Khel Khel Mein, Rafoo Chakkar, Barood, Naya Daur, Jhoota Kahin Ka, Karz, Yeh Vaada Raha, Bade Dilwala, Saagar, Tawaif, Ek Chadar Maili Si and Hathyar.[10][11]

From the 2000s onwards, Kapoor transitioned to character roles, receiving further critical acclaim in films such as Hum Tum, Fanaa, Namastey London, Love Aaj Kal, Agneepath, Housefull 2, Aurangzeb, Shuddh Desi Romance, 102 Not Out and Mulk.[12][13][14][15][16] For his performance in Do Dooni Chaar, he won the Filmfare Award for Best Actor (Critics), and for his role in the ensemble family drama Kapoor & Sons, he won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor.[17] He was honoured with the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008.[17] His final film appearance was in Sharmaji Namkeen (2022), which was released posthumously.[18]

Kapoor met his wife, actress Neetu Singh, while working in films. They have 2 children, including the actor Ranbir Kapoor. He died of leukemia on 30 April 2020, aged 67.

Salil Chowdhury (19 November 1925 - 5 September 1995) was an Indian music director, songwriter, lyricist, writer and poet who predominantly composed for Bengali, Hindi and Malayalam films. He composed music for films in 13 languages. This includes over 75 Hindi films, 41 Bengali films, 27 Malayalam films, and a few Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Gujarati, Odia and Assamese films. His musical ability was widely recognised[1] in the Indian film industry. He was an accomplished composer and arranger who was proficient in several musical instruments, including the flute, the piano, and the esraj. He was also widely acclaimed and admired[1] for his inspirational and original poetry in Bengali.

The first Bengali film for which Chowdhury composed music was Paribortan, released in 1949. Mahabharati, released in 1994, was the last of the 41 Bengali films where he rendered his music. He is affectionately called Salilda by his admirers. He mentored famous music directors like R. D. Burman and Hridaynath Mangeshkar

He appeared in 84 films in the 1970s and 1980s. As an actor, he is mostly known for his supporting roles in big-budget films. Later, his prominence increased and he achieved fame for directing films with titles beginning with the letter "K" since 1987.

As a filmmaker, his work includes the action drama Khudgarz (1987), the revenge drama thriller Khoon Bhari Maang (1988), the action comedy Kishen Kanhaiya (1990), the melodramatic thriller Karan Arjun (1995), the musical romantic thriller Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai (2000), the science fiction film Koi... Mil Gaya (2003) and its sequels, the superhero Krrish film series (2006-13). He has won the Filmfare Award for Best Film and Best Director for Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai and Koi... Mil Gaya.

In 2025, Netflix released a four-part documentary series titled The Roshans. The series traces the artistic lineage from composer Roshan Lal Nagrath to his sons Rakesh Roshan and Rajesh Roshan, and to actor Hrithik Roshan,[4] reflecting on how the family's creative output helped shape mainstream Bollywood music and cinema.
