The pressure surrounding the new captain has eased to some extent, and Sunday's third T20I in Harare now presents India with an opportunity to look beyond immediate results and towards the future.

The timing could hardly be better. India have little left to prove in the series, while a chance to assess the strength of the squad ahead of a busy international calendar could prove invaluable. Another name in contention is Suryansh Shedge. While the all-rounder has already represented India in One-Day Internationals, he is still awaiting his maiden T20I cap. His ability to contribute with both bat and ball makes him an attractive option in a dead rubber.
