The Harare pitch is expected to assist fast bowlers with pace and bounce.

Zimbabwe will rely on experienced pacers Blessing Muzarabani and Richard Ngarava to trouble India's top order. After recent batting struggles, India will need a much better start against the new ball.

Spotlight on Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

One of the biggest talking points will be teenage opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who is expected to open alongside Abhishek Sharma.

Both batters have fond memories of the Harare Sports Club. Abhishek scored his maiden T20I century at the venue, while Vaibhav hit a century in the Under-19 World Cup final earlier this year.

India eye fresh start

India's young T20I team will look to put recent disappointments behind them. Captain Shreyas Iyer will be under pressure after a difficult start to his T20I captaincy. India have managed only one win in his first seven matches as skipper, making this series an important chance to regain confidence and build momentum with a young squad.

New country, new challenge for Iyer

This is Iyer's first tour of Zimbabwe and he has never played a T20I in the country before. He admitted that adapting quickly to the conditions would be crucial.

"Some of us are playing here for the first time, so the quicker we adapt, the better results we will get," he said.

"It is definitely very challenging. We came yesterday, today is practice and tomorrow is the match. But it is fun, and if you perform well in these situations, you will definitely be happy with yourself. The results didn't go our way, but that has brought the team closer to each other. We've been having a lot of discussions about how we're going to play as a unit going forward," Iyer said.

"It's a great exposure because you don't get this often. This is a challenging phase, and the quicker you overcome it, the better you become as a team," the Indian captain said.

Right, let’s finally namecheck the Boy Wonder. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is back in India colours after a tepid first sip of international cricket. It’s the very ground where he carted 175 off 80 in the U19 World Cup final in February. Sooryavanshi seems to have grown several years since, admitting he’s gone through “plenty of ups and downs” in the last few months. Perhaps, a familiar hunting ground is what he needs to kickstart what is hopefully a long journey in blue.

But let’s also talk about the others. The only thing that can compete with an exciting teenage batter is a 150kph rookie. Ashok Sharma could get his first look-in, having already tested speed guns in the IPL, but he also has for company another wrecking ball in Mayank Yadav, whose short India stint two years ago was quite like his bowling: blink-and-you-miss. Harsh Dubey is yet to play a T20I, as are Prabhsimran Singh and Yash Thakur. The batting has familiarity, but the unheralded pace attack, on Harare pitches, will be the real test.
