I mean laapata ladies literally got robbed..those girls were so so good..

they gave the awards for films released in 2024. govt awards are going 2 years backwards due to covid 19.

You know very well the content of the movie for which Yami got the NA for her role... so, I think, it doesn't need further discussion in this thread smiley2

Generally, Modi isn't shy to name the title of a movie he endorses... although he wasn't content about the ongoing debate about the Besharam Song in Pathaan (which didn't hinder the movie to become a success) and mentioned housfull theatres in Kashmir (something happening for the 1st time in 30 years), he didn't utter Pathaan's title... I wonder why... smiley2

To be honest, Kabir Khan was scripted with the Pakistani angle in mind 'designed' independent of Negi but in view of the often made allegations to SRK's person to 'go back to Pakistan' already at that time... Kabir Khan became an outcast/outsider despite his achievements as a Muslim Indian hockeyplayer... SRK - in many minds - still is an outsider just because he is Muslim and his father's family lives in Pakistan.

It was interesting that initially, SRK didn't want to make the movie when it got first presented to him as he was well occupied with KANK and Don... it had been the fact that he had to build a team out of girls from many parts of India and that it was field hockey which not only triggered his mindset as a teacher but also his genuine interest. Working then with Shimit Amin and Negi training him was a great experience for him. And he liked to get another movie away from his image as a romantic hero.

so you agree that makers did that on purpose. but why, to make the matters more worse or “ make hay while the sun shines.”?

Oh , rest assured I'm crystal clear about what exactly is your problem with the movie so the discussion was never about that. smiley36 It was so predictable and expexted that it's almost boring atp. smiley36

Only that calling it anything else but what it is, a brilliant Pro India movie is not gonna work anymore. smiley2

Talking about Pathan , it's amazing how some movies from SRK always follow a certain pattern , be it Chak De India or Pathan.. wonder who is endorsing him. Ofcourse bollywood receives foreign funding for propagation of a certain narrative against India and it's culture. Other than his loyalty for his own homeland ( Pakistan as per his own words ) and his own religion. smiley2 Yet the government gave him NA for Jawan and even Mammootty recently received Padma Bhushan after working in so many anti national movies including the recent one The Patriot ( such an ironic name, super flop though.. agenda not quite working as it's used to..). Atp, all the anti national brigade are inspired that their content will bbring them glory and fame even if they fail at Box office.

Should I really engage in discussing the content of your last post, dear??? I think there are more important things to do than trying to argue against a mindset so deeply rooted in false narratives. smiley2

Why even question the makers 20 years later... if you want to know there reasoning. write to them... YRF has an Email accout for that.

It has become another tool of nationalist politics to look at older movies with what is called 'Retrospective Criticism'...What was viewed in 2007 as a story about secular unity and overcoming prejudice is sometimes viewed today through a lens of skepticism regarding the filmmaker's long-term intentions.

Personally, I prefer to go with the intentions of the makers at that time... Then, mainstream Hindi Cinema had also other focus rather than the more polarized debates seen today. What I got to know through asking was, that the writers wanted to address the concept of "the outsider" in India. That was not only through the coach but even more through the Women Hockey team whose real achievements hardly got any attention at that time... it is even the core issue in the movie.

I am asking you because you are the walking talking encyclopedia of BW movies and Indian Politics.

btw did you write emails to Indian PM and the makers of movies you detest/dislike or chant “propaganda propaganda” to know their reasoning or just chatGPT knowledge?

Yami I can maybe get behind but Kartik? He did more acting off-screen than on.

Also, what poor timing considering just a few months ago he was caught approaching a minor online....

Think of it as alternative universe where Karthik won the award for one of his anti woman monologues smiley36
