Merry Christmas

This movie deserved better. Esp after andhadhun, expectations were high. I watched it 1st day night show with 4 other people in a hall, 2 of those dosed off by interval and left.

I guess the pace of the movie killed it. But i am such a sucker for thrillers that i hope makers keep on making movies like these / kahani.

I don't see what is there to celebrate.

The budget of Alpha went from 200 crores, to 150 crores, to 100 crores and now it is apparently 80 crores.

War 2's budget has always been 400 crores and they haven't tried to change that number, even when the film massively flopped on its first day.

War 2 was declared a flop on its first day when in India alone it made 52 crores on its first day, first day not first weekend. And the alpha apologists are celebrating a 52 crores global opening weekend. The lengths people are going to justify this flop is insane.

I general a movie needs to make 2.5 times it's budget to break even. If the budget is 200 crores it needs to make 500 crores worldwide to break even. If the budget is 150 crores it nerds to make 375 crores to break even. If the budget is 100 crores it needs to make 250 crores to break even. And if the budget is in fact 80 crores, which I don't believe for a second, the movie needs to make 200 crores to break even.

I don’t see alpha getting to 100 crores worldwide let alone 200 crores worldwide. It is a flop and no amount of glazing is going to help.

The 2.5 times is the number used as a general number to allow the marketing that the studio did to promote the movie. The marketing budget is not included in the budget but the studio spent that money and in the box office total it needs to be included to know if it will break even or not.

Let's say the budget they are saying does in fact include marketing then the break even is 1.5 times t the budget. If it's 200 crores then 300 croses, if it is 150 crores then 225 crores, if it is 100 crores then 150 crores, and if it is 80 crores then it is 120 crores.

The reason many movies, even when they don't break even at the box office, they are not flops is because studios make separate deals. They have sold the satellite and digital rights to TV, a streaming service has purchased the movie, the music rights are sold, etc.

There are many movies that break even at the box office and I am not saying only dhurandhar.
