🏏IPL 2026: Mumbai Indians vs Sunrisers Hyderabad, 41st Match, Mumbai🏏

At the halfway stage, Mumbai Indians' fate remains firmly in their own hands, as they often say in media interactions and dressing-room speeches.

With seven matches left and 14 points still there for the taking, they even possess a theoretical chance of finishing in the coveted top two, beginning Wednesday when they face off against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Well, that is only on paper.

This has been a season of surprises. Who would have expected a side that posted over 260 in one match to collapse to 13 for 6 six in Powerplay in the next, and get all out for 75?

Given the IPL's fluid dynamics, MI might be entering into a matrix-like zone - a labyrinth of interconnected permutations, with a need for favourable results in the remaining games.

MI have been hot and cold this season - more cold than hot, of course. The batters have misfired and bowlers have faltered, and the numbers reflect it just as damningly. They have scored the fewest runs (1173) and also have the lowest Powerplay score (366) among the 10 sides.

Their wickets tally is just as poor - 33 scalps this season. The only side to have taken fewer wickets (30) are, ironically, leading the points table.

MI vs SRH Prediction: Who Will Win Mumbai Indians vs Sunrisers Hyderabad IPL 2026 Match 41 Today? - myKhel

Nothing amplifies MI's situation more tellingly than the numbers of their batters. Tilak Varma, their highest scorer so far, is 31st in the batting charts. More strikingly, Suryakumar Yadav, the India T20 skipper, has scored 157 in seven games at an average of 22.4.

He had averaged over 65 last season when his aggregate was 717 runs in 17 games. The figures of Hardik Pandya (97) and Sherfane Rutherford (103), the other middle-order batters, are as abysmal.

"The atmosphere in the dressing room is good. We are taking each match positively, as positively as possible, and we will try to win each match. We are working on that, we are practising, everyone is doing well, so we are practising and working on our weaknesses," said Ashwani Kumar (six wickets), MI's best pacer in terms of wickets claimed in proportion to matches played.

More fancied pacers, barring the peerless Jasprit Bumrah and skipper Hardik Pandya, have lost their places in the XII.

MI vs SRH IPL 2026 41st Match Prediction & Odds

Today's match will be between the No. 1 batting side against the No 10. SRH (1598) have three batters in the top 10, and they have scored 425 runs more than MI. They also hold superior numbers across other factors - fifties (10-5), sixes (92-59) and average (29.59-26.06). Their batters - Abhishek Sharma (38), Ishan Kishan (312), Heinrich Klaasen (349) and Nitish Kumar Reddy - have turned up the intensity by a few notches, and their only concern has been the form of an otherwise reliable overseas opener Travis Head.

What is more, SRH have stepped up their bowling prowess too. With the return of Pat Cummins and the emergence of two rookie pacers - Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain - they now have a formidable attack that was once considered their Achilles' heel. It could prove a handful for the out-of-form batters of Mumbai Indians, who may be fast running out of time.

MI Vs SRH Dream11 Prediction Today Match 41, IPL 2026 Fantasy Cricket Tips, Dream11 Team Today | CREX

Team Watch

Mumbai Indians

Injuries/Unavailability: Rohit Sharma, out with hamstring injury since April 12, continues to be doubtful although he has been batting at the nets seriously. MI's latest recruit, Keshav Maharaj, in place of Mitchell Santner, has joined the squad.

Tactics & Match-ups: Corbin Bosch and Trent Boult, apart from Jasprit Bumrah, have favourable match-ups against Abhishek Sharma, SRH's most dangerous batter and the current Orange Cap holder. Boult also has a strong record against Ishan Kishan, having dismissed SRH's third-best batter multiple times. It may be a good call to bring back the New Zealander for the game. Meanwhile, with Santner out, MI may turn to Will Jacks.

Probable XII: Quinton de Kock (wk), Ryan Rickelton, Naman Dhir, Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya (c), Sherfane Rutherford, Krish Bharat, Will Jacks, Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah, Ashwani Kumar

What they said:

"When I go out for the match, there is no pressure. When I get the chance, I go out there - there is nothing like that (pressure). He (Lasith Malinga) talks to me about the mental side - how to handle pressure. I am also working with him on my yorkers." - MI pacer Ashwani Kumar on pressure of being chosen ahead of international pacers and on working with Lasith Malinga

"Well, it's just open, transparent dialogue - right from ownership all the way through management to, I guess, Daniel Vettori and Pat. Ishan Kishan was obviously captain for the first seven games and did a really good job, and now Pat has come in. So I think the dialogue is very transparent and very clear among all those different stakeholders within the franchise. Now that Pat is back - he's been captain for the last two years - it's a pretty seamless transition, to be honest." - SRH assistant coach James Franklin on the change of captaincy - from Ishan Kishan to Pat Cummins

Here are 3 player battles for MI vs SRH, Match 41 of IPL 2026:

3. Eshan Malinga vs Rohit Sharma

Eshan Malinga x Rohit SharmaEshan Malinga x Rohit Sharma (Source : sunrisershyd on IG/mumbaiindians on IG)

Eshan Malinga is the leading wicket-taker for the Orange Army this season. He has 14 wickets from eight matches, tied with Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Anshul Kamboj on the list of bowlers with the most scalps in IPL 2026. He will look to take wickets with the new ball.

However, he will be up against the legendary Rohit Sharma, who is expected to make his comeback in this game after recovering from a hamstring injury. Before his injury layoff, the Mumbai batter amassed 137 runs in four innings at an average of 34.25 and a strike rate of 165.07.

2. AM Ghazanfar vs Ishan Kishan

AM Ghazanfar vs Ishan KishanAM Ghazanfar vs Ishan Kishan (Source : sunrisershyd on IG/mumbaiindians on IG)

AM Ghazanfar has been the most impressive bowler for the Mumbai Indians this season. In five matches, he has picked up eight wickets at an average of 18.13. He has bowled quite a few of his overs inside the power play but maintained an overall economy rate of 8.61.

Ishan Kishan has been in scintillating form, smashing 312 runs in eight innings at an average of 39 and a strike rate of 198.73. He likes to take the attack to the bowlers from the get-go, and his battle with Ghazanfar will be intriguing to watch, especially if Mumbai pick up an early wicket and brings him out to bat inside the power play.

1. Jasprit Bumrah vs Abhishek Sharma

Jasprit Bumrah vs Abhishek SharmaJasprit Bumrah vs Abhishek Sharma (Source : sunrisershyd on IG/mumbaiindians on IG)

Jasprit Bumrah has picked up just two wickets from seven games this season. He is averaging a dismal 105. However, his economy rate of 8.08 is quite good for someone who bowls in the power play and also at the back end. Mumbai Indians would hope their talismanic pacer brings his A-game to the fore against a dangerous batting lineup like that of the Sunrisers.

Abhishek Sharma is the current Orange Cap holder. He has amassed 380 runs in eight innings at an average of 54.29 and a strike rate of 212.30. The 25-year-old will look to assert himself on the Mumbai Indians' bowlers early with his fearless batting approach.
