To set him up as being an anomaly probably. Parth, Samaira and Raunak/Ronak are raised by Nandini and very much connected to their roots. Samaira would begin her phone calls with Tulsi by saying Jai Shri Krishna. That’s Nandini’s upbringing.

We have no idea about Niyati yet. What her background is, who she is, how Karan knows her and why he entrusted her with raising Ansh’s son and is playing house with her. What sorta family she’s from etc. What we do know is that she doesn’t have any connection with the Virani family yet. She didn’t seem to recognise or know Tulsi. Rio obviously has no idea about Karan’s family. So he’s an outsider and the oddity.

It’s very much in line with how Ekta wanted Aakashdeep to stand out and look very different from any other kids in the Virani family. He had his hair coloured, wore it long and in pony tail, blue eyes though no one in the family has ever had them before or since.

They have begun the “other-ing” process with the name itself this time around.
