I meant in reality chinese, koreans are racist as F..they treat everyone inferior to them particularly based on skin color..
I do watch cdramas and their target audience is definitely not international viewers. Their primary focus is their local audience. Most of their major OTT platforms like Tencent is still not available in india, which shows they dont prioritize international audiences as much as kdramas do.
They make a huge amount of money within their own country. I keep track of their dramas heat index and other ratings and everything is centered around their domestic audience. They rarely take international audience preferences into account. In contrast, korea invests heavily in soft power and japan does the same through anime. (Though korea sometimes unintentionally portrays the middle east as a war zone, which often leads to backlash.)
Coming to how india is portrayed in cdramas, based on what i have watched (full length dramas not short ones), india isnt mentioned much. However, i have never seen them being disrespectful toward india or other countries. Their dramas are heavily censored, they carefully monitor what can pass censorship and many shows even get canceled if they fail to meet those standards.
I also personally feel that chinese people are generally less racist compared to koreans. Yes, the chinese govt does sponsor youtubers to present a positive image but there are also plenty of independent vlogs that give a more realistic view of everyday life. From what i have seen, they are somewhat similar to indians, extroverted but with better civic sense and they tend to treat guests with good intentions. Some travelers are even treated like celebrities with locals frequently asking to take photos with them.
Chinese govt may have its issues but the people are like people anywhere else. Personally, i feel they are more approachable compared to others in east asia. Koreans can sometimes come across as more racist, while japanese people are generally reserved and introverted. Chinese people, on the other hand, tend to be outgoing and extroverted but usually without crossing the line into rudeness.
I also feel that racism exists everywhere. Even in india, there is a lot of racism, especially toward people from poorer countries. However, i think racism in asia is nowhere near the level of racism in the West. America, in particular, takes the lead as the most racist followed by europe. Compared to that, racism in asia doesnt even stand a chance.
