Smriti won’t be contesting anything else except Lok Sabha from what I understand. It’s why she’s not asked a RS seat as well as that’s essentially taken as an announcement of a politician unofficially announcing they’re not going to contest anything in the future.
RS term is for 6 years and people can be directly nominated to the same, if there’s no internal strife within the party the candidate usually wins the same too in a formality.
If Smriti ever contests for a state election then she may be assigned the CM or even HM post for the state. But right now there are no indications for the same. It may also be considered as a sort of downgrade by some to go from Cabinet to State when the other way around is usually considered as going up the ladder. However if the state she’s assigned and the portfolios in the same are exceptionally powerful and we know that there is a significant Central project in the state that may not be the case. But herein the options are not quite visible yet. Besides, you need to have a very strong ground connect with a large enough local team to make sure that you get such a position. For example, Fadnavis in Maharashtra, Sarma in Assam and by extension the rest of the NE states, Yogiji in UP. Smriti has no such team in one state where she’s stayed and put in a significant amount of time of not just a couple of years but a very large amount of time.
She’s less likely to get anything done in a state election and more in Lok Sabha for a reason. Her political moves are not random. She knows what she’s doing. If not for internal conflicts within BJP UP state unit she may have won the seat this time too but then again BJP fared poorly in comparison overall in UP this time and Orissa was the saving grace for this election. She’s not contesting till 2029.
