Personally I found it to be very immature, distasteful and disrespectful. People shouldn’t indulge in discussions that they aren’t equipped for if they can’t distinguish between basics such as an EMA being a completely different thing from an act of terror.
If you can’t comprehend that one act is about a human being displaying a sense of selfishness that they’re not even capable of displaying any morality even if they wanted because their own benefits far outweigh the repercussions of their actions on their reputation and karma while the other is only possible when one has absolutely discarded their humanity in pursuit of something monstrous, barbaric and inhumane then you shouldn’t be having those conversations.
A murder can be an act of passion or an act of self defence or sometimes a freak accident, sometimes a premeditated attack - in all of these a human life is presumably lost, but we can’t say all of them are one and the same thing. A person killing someone to save their own life or the life of a loved one or even an absolute stranger cannot be compared to a person who has killed someone in cold blood after thoroughly preparing for the same as they are bound to enjoy the act and experience. A person killing someone to save themselves is on a different parameter of adrenaline wherein they’re not enjoying the act but will commit it if they must. One deserves capital punishment, the other doesn’t because it by no means constitutes a crime in any part of the world, unless you count oppressive regimes and the prosecution is already biased and set against the person who merely defended either their own life or someone else’s who was more vulnerable and weak by some standards.
But even killers are not necessarily always capable of being mass murdering terrorists. One is about taking a single human life sometimes in circumstances that can vary from an act of revenge to an act of self defence to simply being a paid job as a hitman; but terrorism required a whole other level of mindset and skill set, cold as it may sound, but it’s a practical reality. Tell a hitman you want to hire him to kill a bunch of people and you will pay whatever he wants, even kill them as you want if you can pay that much and if they can do the needful, he will agree but add the caveat that he may die in the process and he may just threaten to shoot you himself. For him that’s a business he conducts and thinks nothing much of human life, but he values his own certainly and while he knows certain targets come with risks, he’s not gonna be willing to die for the same if he thinks the pay is not worth his life even if you offer him billions of dollars.
Tell any terrorist to kill hundreds of people and that they may die in the process and they’ll think nothing of it. It’s not even a matter of discussion.
In essence, both are acts of violence that take human life but even there are nuances that differentiate between a literal hitman and a terrorist, but you gotta have the capability to distinguish between the two and know which is the worst crime. If you lack that basic understanding of what makes the two different then maybe you shouldn’t enter into discussions about the same.
Calling for equality of genders, races etc. is all a nice thing but when you consider yourself a feminist or a human rights activist or whatever, and think that the only way to prove the same is by disagreeing with someone in such a manner and worse, thinking that calling out women is what constitutes feminism then maybe you need to do a bit of growing up. Men and women need to be called out when it’s warranted for whatever is warranted but human psychology is not something that cares about labels. In an EMA the only victim is the one cheated on, be it a man or a woman; the parties indulging in it are the culprits. But you cant go around sentencing people to life in prison or give a verdict of capital punishment for cheating on their spouses or having an affair with a married person; but you certainly shouldn’t allow any terrorists and their sympathisers to thrive and survive.
There are plenty of married men in Bollywood and even amongst the rich and powerful who sleep around and their wives don’t care as long as they are married to the man and his wealth is theirs; there are plenty of women who themselves have affairs while their husbands do the same and both don’t mind the arrangement so long as it doesn’t make the news. There are so many kinds of people out there that they can’t all be fit in one box and to have a discussion on subjects like these it’s just a basic requirement that you understand that.
There’s no conversation that can be had that can equate EMAs of any kind with terrorism. In an EMA, sometimes the perceived victim doesn’t even care because they’re cool with the arrangement with a mutual understanding of their own between the relevant parties. In an act of terrorism, no victim - be it those directly affected and killed or the indirectly affected ones aka their family, friends and those they mattered to can be okay with what happened much less be in an understanding of the situation with the perpetrator and consent to it.
But you gotta have the IQ and EQ to know that.
