Will Jacks:

(Team peaking at the right time?) Of course. And tonight that might mean something different. We saw the game here a few nights ago, New Zealand and Sri Lanka, and we saw how that pitch played. So tonight being brave could mean something completely different. I think smart is a word I like to use and just doing what you're required to do at the time.

(On adjusting to the role as a finisher) I'm really enjoying it, how you get to bat in the pressure moments and you can have a massive impact on the game, even if you face a very small amount of balls. And I think that's really exciting. And if you have that mindset, you can always be on the positive side and look to try and win the game.
(Do you have to embrace it?) Definitely. Like everything in life, if you fight it and you find it harder, then you're not going to enjoy it as much and that leads to not as much success. So I think I've really embraced it now and I'm really loving it.

(On being asked to bowl at different times) Yeah, always. But that's kind of nice for me as well. I always say to him, I'm always ready. Whenever you need me, I'm always ready. We have that relationship and I think that helps. I think everyone in the team needs to be ready. We know in T20 cricket, one over spells, it could be three over spells. It's whatever is needed. And we have to be ready.

(Playing on a used pitch) Yeah, absolutely. We trained here last night, so we got together the information on the conditions. And I think whether we bat or bowl first, it will be imperative that we really finalise what those conditions are in the first few overs and communicate that around. New Zealand obviously had success here the other night and I think they bowled 17 overs of spin. So you never quite know if it's going to be the same, but if it is, we'll have to adapt well.

Rehan Ahmed: I didn't quite get my length right for my first ball. Thankfully Rachin didn't hit it as well as he should have. After the first ball I felt like home. It's breaking up (the pitch). 160 is about par. We did well to get them back from 130/4. Hopefully, we can chase it down now.Everyone has different approaches. I’m sure we’ll try to hit sixes when the ball is there to be hit, and if it’s not, we’ll just play according to the situation. Similar to the training wickets we played on.

Rehan Ahmed: "[First-ball wicket] Didn't quite get my lengths right but thankfully Rachin didn't get hold of it. [World Cup debut] Bit more pressure, but it was great, made it very easy out there. [Pitch] It's breaking up, 160 is about par. I think we did well to get it back from 130-4. [Chase] Everyone has different approaches. We'll try and hit sixes when it's there to be hit. Similar to the training wickets, and I've played some one-day games here before the WC."

Is that job done for NZ? All the signs are there for how to defend this total, as they did so comprehensively against SL. It was a real struggle to score outside the powerplay, which realised 54 from the openers - but after Finn Allen and Tim Seifert had put on 64 from 42, the next-highest stand was 31. England, you feel, will need both a fast start and partnerships down the order. Can they do Pakistan a solid and win this? Miller will be back for the start of the chase shortly

Phil Salt and Jos Buttler are at the crease. Phil Salt is on strike. Matt Henry will open the attack

Welcome back. England bowled 4 overs of pace in that innings. Surely Henry has to take the new ball and look to trouble the batters with his wobble seam. The slower the England spinners bowled, the tougher they were to hit. Expect a masterclass from the New Zealand captain? Should enjoy these conditions and as such he varies his pace even on flat decks. Yesterday India got their highest opening stand of the World Cup? Can England get theirs tonight?

Henry to Salt, OUT

snicked off, gloriously! He spent the last few years making mincemeat of Zak Crawley at the top of the order, and another England opener falls to identical skills! Salt follows the movement, angled in so full, shaping away, so tight, and gets a feathered nick to the tumbling keeper! New Zealand are in the mood!
