Harmanpreet Kaur: We wanted to bowl, so I’m glad we’ve got that opportunity because as a team that’s what we all decided. It’s a great opportunity for us to start with a good powerplay. If we’re able to get a few wickets, that will be a great win for us. I feel every match is a new match. Every day is a new day. I know we have a great record, but at the same time, every day we have to come and play good cricket against them. Today is another day where we want to play good cricket. Same team.

Ashleigh Gardner: We are going to have a bat tonight. We just have to look at the games that we’ve won. We’ve always set a really good marker early on in our innings. Ultimately, we’re basically playing a quarterfinal here, so we know we have to do both skills really well. But I think we can set the game up with the bat in hand and then hopefully try and defend it with the ball. Same team as the last game. The past is the past, and we just need to focus on what the present looks like. I know when we play really good cricket, we win games of cricket. We just have to reflect on the last game we played against these guys. We put on 190 and obviously weren’t able to defend it, but there are so many positives we can take out of that game, and also positives from this season. The stats speak for themselves, but I think we have a great opportunity tonight to try and change that.

There is a very remote chance for UP to qualify for eliminator. Their NRR is too low. Even if they win tomorrow's match, beating both MI and DC based on NRR is very low.

If GG wins today, they will surely play the Eliminator.

If MI wins, they have to wait for DC vs UP result to find their fate.

NRR does play a role. Let us talk about it in the 20th match.

Cheers..

match-forecast-wpl-miw-vs-ggtw-19th-match

Both teams this match is crucial to win this as the playoff race is nearing the end. They faced each other earlier in this season.

Both look stronger against each other to win this match and GGTW never won the match against MIW in WPL. Who will win today’s WPL Match?

With the league stage entering a decisive phase, both teams will view this fixture at the BCA Stadium, Kotambi, Vadodara as a potential turning point for playoff momentum.

Mumbai Indians Women arrive with a settled core and proven match-winners, while Gujarat Giants Women continue to search for consistency despite having one of the most talented top orders in the competition.

Thanks for the tag!

Best of luck to both the teams.

It'll be a do or die match for both the teams. GG has a chance to script history if they win this match against Mumbai. Is tonight their day ?

7:05pm The first bit of big news to unpack is that a side in the WPL has actually opted to bat first. The last time a captain did so was back in the final of the 2024 edition, when Meg Lanning did so for the Delhi Capitals, only to see them go down to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. 40 tosses since had seen the captain winning the toss opting to chase but Gardner said not anymore. And there may be some merit in this too, because every game the Giants have won has been while defending a score (although those wins have solely come against DC and UPW).

Recent Performance

GG-W : L L L W W

MI-W: W W W L L

Mumbai Women are coming back from back to back victories while Gujarat is coming from losses. Mumbai's morale will be high and sealing this match will give them a place in the eliminator without waiting for DC-UPW match. Gujarat will be wanting to break this loosing streak by winning against the never won Mumbai. Today's match will be high powered one like RCB vs UPW!

Georgia Wareham:

(Areas to improve on) To be honest, all facets, I think. We’ve started really well in the powerplay with the bat over the last couple of games. Sophie (Devine) has been unbelievable at the top for us. We probably just haven’t quite finished our innings with the bat in hand. It’s been a little bit similar with the ball as well, we’ve let a few things slip towards the back end of the innings. But honestly, probably a little bit everywhere. We still haven’t played our best game of cricket yet. It probably gives us a little bit of freedom with the bat, not having a total in mind. It leaves all possibilities open. And we’ve defended quite well with the ball. We’ve seen how well Sophie’s been bowling, especially in the last couple of overs against DC - they were incredibly clutch from her. But I think we’ve done quite well as a bowling unit, winning those tight moments when defending. She doesn’t like talking about it as much as we call her Sophie De-clutch. She doesn’t like talking about it. But yeah, we keep reminding her, that’s for sure. Probably the best nickname. She’s got some inappropriate ones too! I think it’s been pretty well documented, just hitting the stumps as much as you possibly can. Especially with the variable bounce out here and the potential for spin. Most of the dismissals have been bowled or LBW, and the lower strike rates come when we’re hitting the stumps. So as bowlers, that’s what we’ve got to try and do.

Monk: "I am surprised to know that Gujarat and Mumbai have played 8 times with each other and Gujarat is yet to win against Mumbai. I hope it changes tonight " -- This WPL has seen a century, last minute thrillers. Let's see if this stat as well changes today.

Soms: "Good evening here from Bengaluru. GG is the 1st team to opt bat 1st in this WPL. Great decision by Gardner. "

Anjan: "Gujarat Giants chose to bat because they are confident about Divine intervention in the last over." -- Ha! Of course...
