There’s a huge difference between inheritance and nepotism.

When a shopkeeper’s son takes over the family shop, that’s inheritance - he’s continuing a business that already belongs to his family. But in industries like Bollywood or music, it’s not about “passing down” something you own , it’s about getting access to opportunities that belong to an open field meant for everyone.

If an actor, director, or musician gets their first project not because of merit or auditions, but because of who their parents know, that’s not inheritance ,that’s privileged access. And that privilege often shuts doors for outsiders who don’t have the same network.

No one denies that insiders also work hard, but let’s not pretend the starting line is the same. One gets a launch, the other gets a hundred rejections before anyone even hears them out. That’s what nepotism is about ... Networks and sometimes unfair access, not effort.

And I agree with SK on that argument because it is true. Kirane ki dukan mein bhi toh wahan ka network, skills aur opportunities milti hain regardless of son/ daughters own skill. It will be really hard to setup a new kirane ki dukan without existing opportunities.

Nepotism word isiliye famous hua hai kyunki bollywood is celebrity space. Wahan expectations lekar log aate hain, nahi opportunity milti toh suicide bhi hote hain. All this is bad but nepotism is not the only cause for it. Log nepo word use karke unnecessarily guilty mein dalna shuru karte hain.

Kitne log non nepo hokar successful hue but will they be non-nepo when their kids will be involved?
