Honestly, I didn't expect to be interested. Supernatural shows don't interest me because of their lack of logic.

The first promo was good, but the second one was really disappointing. The third promo was the only reason I actually remembered it. I watched the first two episodes and didn’t feel anything new, so I decided to take a break. You know, let it marinate. I returned to it two days ago, and it prompted me to binge-watch. That's always a good sign!

So what do we have here?

A girl who can see ghosts.

A doctor who does not believe in such hocus pocus.

A ghost fiancée who despises(completely murderous) her living counterpart and is completely possessive (again also completely murderous) of her fiancé.

A mother who is murdered by her "mele-mein-bhichdi" evil twin sister.

An evil twin sister who is impersonating her nice sibling after killing her.

A mansion filled with hundreds of the wandering spirits of newlywed brides.

And many, many mysteries to uncover.

Families, the first boring hurdle:

If you are planning to see this, you should know that the first few episodes are just too boring. The Female leads family is useless. And I would be glad if they never came back again.

The male lead's family is equally or more toxic, but at least they are entertaining, and it is fun to see people plotting and conspiring. The female lead's family is just depressing. They are selfish. They are useless and frankly, toxic, but believe themselves to be the helpless victims.

So, the serial actually feels better after the forced marriage thing, and the female lead's family is shown no more. Better see this show after the marriage track. Episode 23.

Now, coming to the good and bad aspects of the show.

The villains:

The promos and the first episode basically told us about the main villainess. Narayani Shastri plays the double role, one as a good ghost mother(Lolitha) and other as the evil sister (Lata)

And by god!!! The evil twin is ENTERTAINING!!'

She is over the top, dramatic, and funny. Yep, she is 100% evil, but who cares? I love every interaction she has with everyone. Almost like a mix og Komolika and Shakuni.

But that's not it... The ML's family is full of villains. Everyone wants money... Treasure... something, and everyone hates that Surjo gets to inherit everything, as he is the only son. How this guy is even alive at this point is a mystery in itself. He is surrounded by people/ghosts who want him dead.

The main villainess aside, we have so many varieties of villains. A gossip queen aunt who just likes to add mirchi in every situation. A grandfather's third wife, who has an elaborate plan to kill everyone in the family... that too in the order of inheritance. First Surjo, then his father, then his uncle, and then his grandfather.

We also have a jealous, possessive, and murderous ghost of Surjo's ex, Shaoli. She has only one solution to all her problems.

  1. She thinks Surjo killed her. --> Kill Surjo.
  2. She still loves Surjo even after her death. --> Kill Surjo.
  3. Someone asks Noyon to marry Surjo. --> Kill Surjo.
  4. Jealous of Noyon being the wife of Surjo. --> Kill Surjo.
  5. Noyon says two words of English. --> Kill Surjo.

You understand, right? She really wants to kill Surjo by hook or crook.

The Chemistry.

The other reason why the show felt boring and slow till the forced marriage track was because the chemistry between the main three could only be shown after that.

The male lead, played by Arjun Chakrabarty, has nice chemistry with the female lead, played by Shruti Bhist.

Noyon and Surjo have this fun chemistry with slightly comic banter, and the emotional resonance between them makes it endearing to watch.

From the second promo, I thought I would not like Surjo's character, but nope, Arjun brings out a nice and endearing performance from this clichéd character. He shines in most of his scenes, whether it is reminiscing about his past love, his big bro attitude, his anger, his irritation at Noyon, or just the utter helplessness and hopelessness he is feeling at the situations happening to him that he now can not control or even handle.

Shruti Bhist, as Noyontara, is really good. She was mostly confused, scared, and hopeless, but then(Thankfully!!) we see she is not a stupid, or an idiot. She doesn't trust people that easily. And her tricks to expose Lata were fairly good tries.

She has a lot on her plate.

  1. Save Surjo from the murderous ghost ex, Shaoli, by proving that he did not kill Shaoli. That too in 7 days.
  2. Expose Lata as Lolita's imposter.
  3. Hundreds of dead ghost brides are coming behind her to get justice, as they all died because of 'Pari Mahal', Surjo's 200-year-old house. They are asking for her help.
  4. Probably find the treasure because it looks like a really bad CGI statue of a Pari is leading her to that.

After the marriage track, the pacing is quite nice. Not too fast.. not too slow. With so many mysteries and people plotting, planning, and conspiring. It is actually fun to watch.

As usual, it is a supernatural show, so obviously, we are not supposed to question many things about the powers of the ghost. Some can teleport, some can project, some can touch physical objects, etc, etc.

But it is quite enjoyable. If anyone is bored, they can see from episode 23
