I felt bad for Siraj when he froze after he saw the bails were off the stumps 🥲

Jadeja’s knock was really good and was almost on the winning side!

India's remarkable resistance ended in heartbreak, as England clinched victory in a nail-biting Lord's Test.

India have fallen narrowly short of a historic, heroic run chase on Day 5 of a nail-biting third Test at Lord's, as England clinched victory by 22 runs. Down at 112/8 after the first session - chasing 193 - India put up a heroic resistance, led by all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja's half-century and supported by No. 10 Jasprit Bumrah and No. 11 Mohammed Siraj's phenomenal resistance. However, an unlucky dismissal saw Siraj depart in the 75th over, all out for 170. The victory gives England a 2-1 lead in the five-match Test series

Gill mum on Bumrah

Will Jasprit Bumrah play the 4th Test at Old Trafford? "You'll soon find out," is Gill's response after the game. Bumrah has now played 2 Tests in this series, and is set to play only one more as per his workload management plan. Which one will it be?

Gill proud of the effort

It wasn't meant to be for Gill's India to become the first Indian side since 1986 to win back-to-back Tests in England, but he is immensely proud of the fight: "Extremely proud. Five days of hard-fought cricket and it comes down to the last session, last wicket and tremendously proud of the effort."

Gill adds that the lack of partnerships from the batting unit cost India big time.

Standing ovation for Jadeja and Siraj

Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Siraj got a standing ovation as they walked back into the Lord's pavilion. They took the game right down to the wire, and nearly, nearly pulled off a heroic win. 22 runs short, but heroes at the end of the day.

From 81/7 and 112/8, India took it all the way to the third session. Heroic, heroic resistance but just not enough in the end. Ravindra Jadeja: 61* off 181 balls. Jasprit Bumrah: 5 off 54. Mohammed Siraj: 4 off 30. Take a bow, gentlemen.

The defeat will sting the Indian team, but India's tail -- so often criticised and maligned -- have done themselves and their country proud.smiley32

It was such a unfortunate way to get out.

Felt so bad for Siraj, I really felt we could crossed the line as 22 runs were only remaining.
