That's true. Some stories lose their weight if put into words. Some revive and find their meaning if described in words. The bottom line: every single person you see, whether on the road, while travelling, in a bus, in a shop, at your study/workplace, has a life and their very own bittersweet stories.
That's why I like hearing different perspectives. Each perception about something reveals a core trait of the person. It reveals how they think and how they process the topic of interest. It might not completely give away all of their experiences but it gives you a starting point to get to know and understand them.
