Although I get your point about the age group of the audience, but still, the argument of it not being created for sensationalism is quite weak, given how much money these publishers milk out of the success of the books with such content. I never said that authors always do this for more bestsellers and sales. I said most of them as history has been a witness of how beautiful stories and novels have been ruined because of adding the mature content to make them somehow "deep" and "symbolic".

@b: Exactly. As readers or consumers, we have the right to critique a work. As long as it's done respectfully, it's not about disrespect or humiliation.

I also think that authors can’t afford to write only for a narrow audience. If they want their work to have a wider impact, they need to appeal to a broader range of readers. Maybe sensationalism isn’t always the goal, but the fact remains that these books often generate attention, which suggests they’re hitting their mark. We can’t know for sure how the book would have performed without those specific scenes.

Yes, we have the right to give our feedback. And I didn't want to humiliate Stephen King and Haruki Murakami. In fact, I think Stephen King's Pet Sematary and Carrie are interesting. I watched both of the movies. I've the physical copy of Pet Sematary as well. Stephen King knows how to create eerie and unsettling atmosphere in his horror novels. I enjoyed reading his short story, Boogeyman. As far as Haruki Murakami is concerned, his style is probably daunting for me. His surreal narrative can make me confused. There're many scenes in Kafka on the Shore, where readers fail to understand whether the scenes are real or the protagonist's dreams. That can make his books complex for me. Also, if he uses sex scenes or explicit scenes as symbols or metaphors I may not always understand what he wants to convey through those scenes.

@Bold: Yes! Exactly what I wanted to convey. You may want to give the author a benefit of doubt but at the end, the needle always comes and stops at questioning the intent and necessity, and rightfully so.
