Agree with all of the above and what any sane person would do, EXCEPT the thought that the perpetrator is very likely to commit the crime again (and again). The writers should have given Mannat a niggling doubt that perhaps Shalini wasn’t the intended victim and she herself was or could have easily been…… (they did show Mannat having those inky feelings recollecting Bobby touching her ) and Mannat to run that thought past Vikrant’s, then see his reaction! That may be stretching it, but definitely the thought that if the real culprit isn’t put behind bars, he is likely to attack more innocent women. So Mannat continued fight isn’t just justice for Shalini but locking up the culprit before he attacks again…..
Part of Mannats fight is also because of guilt, for not being there when the attack happened and she too was almost assaulted before.
Vikrant believes police have caught the real culprit with evidence, not free to attack anyone again. Mannat did point out the same to Shalini. What Bobby did is a crime, and Shalini being silent about it is wrong too, but its not easy for a rape victim. Her own trauma, her future, family, what the people will say.. alot of things stops them from coming forward. Shalini did wrong things as ordered by ARS before too. Now she is offered money, education for her brother..its not going to be easy to let go of it and choose truth or risk their safety.
