There is not much mention of what happened to Luv and Kush after Shri Ram left for Vaikuntha. Their individual story is not explored much nor is there any elucidation done by sage Valmiki as the story centred on the protagonist - i.e. journey of Shri Ram.

Lord Rama ( 81st descendent of Ikshvaku dynasty )divided his kingdom into two parts :North Kosalas was given to luv with Sharavati as its capital and South Kosalas with Kushavati as its capital to Kusha.

Rama never hands Ayodhya over to any of the 8 princes.All the property is equally divided otherwise .In fact Ayodhya was abandoned.The reason was all the citizens wanted to accompany Rama in his last journey so Vishnu asks Bhrama to create an alternative universe / loka for them where they would go with their physical forms ,yet they would attain moksha so in a way it was better than Swarga.

Luv established the new capital of Sharavati in the Kosalas. Luv appears to have soon lost his capital, as we do not hear of him or his capital any more.

It was Kusha (82nd descendent)who continues the line. The 115th descendent of Ikshvaku was Brihadbala (at Mahabharata time, Abhimanyu killed Brihadbala at the age of 125 years in the Mahabharata War).

The average lifespan of a human kept dropping with each Yuga.

The 139th descendent was Siddhartha (Gautama Buddha) .We may not consider Siddhartha in the kings list as he left the kingdom at a young age and Suddhodhana’s grandson Rahula became the king.

In the modern day Kushavati ( previous capital of Kusha) is called Kushinagar a district in Uttar Pradesh where Buddha attained enlightenment under Bodhi tree.

^nobody discusses that much in detail generically either post sita bhumi pravesh..only parts are that rama raises his son as a single parent to adulthood before going to sarayu river to his samadhi..ive seen mentions of kush being the next successor to the throne more ..but there is little details as to what even happened to the other princes aside from luv-kusha..
