The thing about Geo is that their 8pm dramas didn't perform well on TV last year but they compensated that with big blockbuster dramas on YouTube like Jaan Nisar & Kaffara. Other dramas like Khaie, Khumar, Shiddat & SMD have also performed well on YT last year & high YT views on these dramas have compensated their average TRPs. It'll remain to be seen if Geo can deliver blockbuster dramas like JaanNisar & Kaffara on Youtube this year or not.

Jaan Nisar and Kaffara were huge on YT. I think Kaffara got the numbers on TRP too? Jaan Nisar eventually did when the slot competition eased...otherwise it was 3-4 big shows on air together. So pretty sure Geo earned well from them too.

Khaie most definitely was a TRP grabber. If I remember correctly it was one of those times when Dure had 2-3 shows in Top 10 TRP wise. YouTube views weren't the worst, given the genre. And since it was earning from television, pretty sure Kaddu uncle got his money back at the least.

Dramas like Shiddat...just like Muneeb's shows in general...aren't memorable but are quick cash grab. I do think it lost its momentum towards the end with typical dragging.

Khumar in my opinion was an underperformer. I know it topped its slot many times but given its Feroze who has a hyperactive fandom, I'd expect it to be higher. There are some actors from whom there are certain expectations. Like another Neelam starrer that aired in 2023, Ehraam-e-Junoon...I expect what Khumar performed from a show like that.

Also since it was a Feroze drama right...which means more money invested. I went through the YouTube playlist...really not the best numbers. Makes sense that Freezer's shows suffer due to what he did to Alizeh. It has tainted his image, except for his toxic male fans who hero worship him.

Coming to SMD...I guess this is the show in which Kaddu invested the most in, in terms of director, writer, ensemble cast, OST...and I doubt its given the kind of returns they have anticipated. Don't want to say more than this, I hope you understand why.

So anyway, if you look at it overall, 2024 wasn't Geo's year. Their returns must have been underwhelming. I did expect they'd announce the new 8 pm shows together, a fresh start for proper buzz...but given how well ARY's doing, Geo prolly just wants something at this point.

there are YouTube views and TRP ratings but now theres also this '"trending in India" list as a benchmark. Honestly, I'd be so embarrassed if i ever had to brag about my favourite show ranking 47th on the trending list..
