I agree with all your points, Armaan is no where behaving out of character even here he is trying to save his mother, based on this dialogues about the cases affecting their relation, Armaan would not be able to stay with Abhira on knowing his mother is sent to jail, hence he was proposing an out of court settlement. not sure who will take the case back, but it does seem like Abhira will try to win back Armaan this time, not sure what the makers have planned though.

the way its shown, Armaan asked for an out of court settlement, they went ahead with the case and now Vidya is sick, she already ran towards Vidya today when she fainted after seeing Vidya in that condtion Armaan wont go to Abhira, it will be Abhira coming back.
