If I may say so…the reason Jhanak is shown to uphold the propriety stakes is cos the society as a whole expects her too.. in fact it expects women to and it’s the same society that gives men a wide berth. This isn’t about what an online audience thinks or not. without shining the lens on that aspect of societal expectations , the analysis of the characters isn’t complete. It isn’t enough to say this character is such and that character is such without contextualising it. That’s an important part of character analysis . The story wittingly or unwittingly shines light on this. To say Ani is fickle or Jhanak is clear means nothing if we don’t peel the layers. In fact much as I dislike a lot of things about the narrative, I like the layers for both Ani and Jhanak. Jhanak incidentally isn’t make a tyag ki moorat… if one looks carefully… they have made her arrogant about her haq… She thinks she is giving up her haq and that is different from a sacrifice or renunciation- renunciation means acceptance of the fact that you are happy about what you have given up. Jhanak is nowhere close to that… she is always running away from confrontation which only means the moment of reckoning is delayed. I will peel Ani’s characterisation or turn of phrase in a new post as I am bit tied up now..

That said, for context, even a writer who supposedly peddles or flirts with bigamy or some form of bigamy in regional tv is forced into semantics when her audience changes.., The message changes as per the receiver..

Hey I partially agree with what you are saying abt Jhanak's stand. Its not wholely sacrificial nor is it mainly societal. I feel her stance on not coming between Ani and didi is complex and stems from a multitude of things - resentment or over sensitivity wrt Ani's initial hesitation in marrying her and her perception of his insistence in removing signs of their marriage as giving away her right to Arshi and wanting to hold Ani accountable for his choices - making both of them miserable as a fitting punishment for his rejection of their marriage and her wrong in falling for her sister's fiance, Urvasi upbringing, the constant humiliation she has had to endure as a daughter of a relationship not accepted by society, her acknowledgement of Ani's culpability in running to Arshi whenever he faced rejection from her, and her consideration of Arshi as her cousin and now sister.

Ani who we love and as we understand the characterization per first 200 episodes is not fickle. But Ani as shown in the show is 100% fickle.

He calls Arshi achi ladki and then says he is scared of her He says people can fall in love multiple times and wants to nibahofy relationship with Arshi for kushaal zindagi and then asks Arshi to leave of she is not happy. Post aag episode, it was Ani who kept insisting to Arshi she was his wife and he did not need to complete their marriage to accept her. Now he is telling Jhanak, while Arshi refers to herself as his wife he does not accept it. When J came to tell him she was pregnant he accused J of trying to break up his wonderful married life with Arshi and repeatedly begged Arshi to uphold their marriage while asking J to not spoil his life marriage family and reputation.

I love Krushal as Ani - but Ani has been butchered characterwise. We can all choose to remember Ani from first 200 episodes for Krushal's brilliant acting, but Ani as shown in the show is extremely fickle, untrusting of J and has been unfair towards Arshi.

Arshi is a pathetic clingy stupid manipulative entitled woman; but that does not excuse Ani's running to her for comfort whenever he face issues with J. Problems stemming from a lack of awareness of self and proper introspection of oneself should have consequences and Ani is dealing with them. Now that he has started to break out of the Arshi deception and accepting the truth, hopefully his character will improve. Without trust there is no love. Till Runak trust eo they honestly cannot claim to love the other to the extent they claim. RN in the show Ani and J make tall claims of loving eo but I see very less manifestion of that love.

He does not trust her, she wants to ignore his pain and focus only on her sacrifice, J alternatingly sympathizes and taunts Ani and Arshi, Ani is ok with forcing his love to endure a toxic mentally crippling BH home while calling Arshi wife, to me none of these seems like true love. They are telling me so I have to believe it unseen.

If Leena can keep Runak conversation as base and valid for the upcoming episodes, I will be very happy to see what she will come up with next. Runak has to unite for Arshi preggy drama - so lets see. As I;ve said before J will nto be bothered abt the pregnancy - other than expecting Ani to take ownership. After she pushed him to be with Arshi she will be the biggest hypocrite if she has a problem with it.

100% accurate write up - well written. I said the same before - talented writers who can tell good stories for trp and money employing Shock and Awe tactics for effect with zero integrity in story telling and playing with audience emotions while feeling zero responsibility to the entertainment quotient.

Its like prostitutionizing (if thats a word) of ones talent, because talent does exist as we say in the first 200 epsidoes.
