Week 1 – Wrapup
Dil Dostii Dance – Episode 4 (18th April 2011)

Written Update :
Kriya says the Dazzlings are dumb and the Weaklings are dumber for worshiping them so much. As Kriya and Neha are walking in the corridor, Kriya tells her about her lost iPod and asks for help in finding it.
On the other side, Rey and Sharon are in the rehearsal hall where Kriya’s iPod falls from Rey’s pocket while dancing. Sharon questions him but he makes excuses about why he picked it up. Sharon talks about the upcoming footloose auditions and how they could become national celebrities if they win it. She informs the others about how footloose competition will be conducted (five zones with 5 teams each… 2 of whom will go on further to nationals and thus, 10 teams will compete in the finals). Meanwhile Neha relays the same information to Kriya as they continue their search for her lost iPod through the locker room and canteen.
Rey plugs in the iPod to the speaker and dances to its music with Sharon. Kriya and Neha are passing by the corridor when Kriya recognizes the music from her iPod and enters the rehearsal hall. She sees Rey and Sharon dancing and discovers that they are really good dancers, making her question her own talent. She imagines herself dancing, but realizes that if there are such brilliant dancers in her own college, there must be much better dancers in the whole city; making her think that her K-effect could only work in Dehradun but won’t be much effective in Mumbai.
Sharon praises the music and again asks Rey where he found the iPod. He blows off the question and as they finish dancing, the other Dazzlings cheer them on. Rey leaves while Sharon turns to see Kriya standing there. She along with the other Dazzling girls insult Kriya, calling her a Behenji and asking her to leave as Sharon gets to decide who will enter the rehearsal hall. Kriya pushes her way into the room, unplugging her iPod despite Sharon’s attempts to stop her and announces that the iPod is hers and she gets to decide who can listen to its music, which Sharon isn’t allowed to do. She insults Sharon too, before leaving the rehearsal hall with her iPod.
At night, Rey is with some of his friends and they’re all dancing and having fun. Rey is reminiscing the moments spent with Kriya when Vicky advises him to stay away from her as it will only cause trouble going forth. Rey tries to make excuses but Vicky knows him too well to buy them. Finally, Rey admits in his mind that although Kriya is a Weakling, she is different from others.

Episode Rating :
Plot ****
After a rapid-fire first week, we start settling into a new rhythm. The scenes are still gripping and the expository part about footloose competition is done well without making it boring.
Screenplay and Dialogs ****
The screenplay is by far the best till date and the dialogs help in interconnecting the scenes easily without making the jumps from one to another brisk.
Acting **1/2
Acting continues to suffer, with the simplest of movements like head nods looking exaggerated.
Visuals ***
The capturing of dance sequence could be done better but other than that, the cinematography is okay.
Soundtrack ****
It still remains one of the strongpoints of the show, enhancing each scene with appropriate background tunes. The song from Kriya’s iPod works really well for the dance.
Choreography ***1/2
Despite it being just another practice session, Rey and Sharon’s dance sequence is fairly well choreographed. The lifts blend effortlessly with the other steps.
Overall rating –3.5/5

Word/s of the Day :
Behenji – Dazzlings use it to insult Kriya, because of her old-fashioned ways.
Jhalli – Kriya calls the Dazzlings that at first, then the other Weaklings, and finally herself.
Dialog of the Day :
“We’ve got the Thing, we’ve got the Bling; We have it all, we’re the Dazzlings” – Simmi’s chant for Dazzlings (As Nil’s future partner, how can Simmi resist the urge to make a little rhyme?!
)
Scene of the Day :
Kriya and Neha’s scene in the locker room where Kriya lightly teases Neha for her poor geography and Neha admits that it’s her first time doing something risky (like breaking open others lockers) and she is only doing it for Kriya. Their interaction makes us forget that their friendship is merely a few hours old!

Blooper of the Day :
Rey saying he picked up the iPod because he thought it belonged to Simmi while he thought in the last episode that it must be a gift for him. Neither explanation really fits and Rey is left floundering for words.
Theme of the Day :
Dil / Dosti / Dance – Dance
