So sorry... I had exams at first and then became busy with games and other contests on IF. I've started on Episode 4 but will probably complete it only after I'm done with the Banner Contest for D3-Rewind forum. Regular updates from next week hopefully 🤞🏼.

Check out the Banner Contest if you have time... you make lovely edits too smiley9.

Week 1 – Wrapup

Dil Dostii Dance – Episode 4 (18th April 2011)

The Curious Case of the Missing iPod

Written Update :

Kriya says the Dazzlings are dumb and the Weaklings are dumber for worshiping them so much. As Kriya and Neha are walking in the corridor, Kriya tells her about her lost iPod and asks for help in finding it.

On the other side, Rey and Sharon are in the rehearsal hall where Kriya’s iPod falls from Rey’s pocket while dancing. Sharon questions him but he makes excuses about why he picked it up. Sharon talks about the upcoming footloose auditions and how they could become national celebrities if they win it. She informs the others about how footloose competition will be conducted (five zones with 5 teams each… 2 of whom will go on further to nationals and thus, 10 teams will compete in the finals). Meanwhile Neha relays the same information to Kriya as they continue their search for her lost iPod through the locker room and canteen.

Rey plugs in the iPod to the speaker and dances to its music with Sharon. Kriya and Neha are passing by the corridor when Kriya recognizes the music from her iPod and enters the rehearsal hall. She sees Rey and Sharon dancing and discovers that they are really good dancers, making her question her own talent. She imagines herself dancing, but realizes that if there are such brilliant dancers in her own college, there must be much better dancers in the whole city; making her think that her K-effect could only work in Dehradun but won’t be much effective in Mumbai.

Sharon praises the music and again asks Rey where he found the iPod. He blows off the question and as they finish dancing, the other Dazzlings cheer them on. Rey leaves while Sharon turns to see Kriya standing there. She along with the other Dazzling girls insult Kriya, calling her a Behenji and asking her to leave as Sharon gets to decide who will enter the rehearsal hall. Kriya pushes her way into the room, unplugging her iPod despite Sharon’s attempts to stop her and announces that the iPod is hers and she gets to decide who can listen to its music, which Sharon isn’t allowed to do. She insults Sharon too, before leaving the rehearsal hall with her iPod.

At night, Rey is with some of his friends and they’re all dancing and having fun. Rey is reminiscing the moments spent with Kriya when Vicky advises him to stay away from her as it will only cause trouble going forth. Rey tries to make excuses but Vicky knows him too well to buy them. Finally, Rey admits in his mind that although Kriya is a Weakling, she is different from others.

Episode Rating :

Plot ****

After a rapid-fire first week, we start settling into a new rhythm. The scenes are still gripping and the expository part about footloose competition is done well without making it boring.

Screenplay and Dialogs ****

The screenplay is by far the best till date and the dialogs help in interconnecting the scenes easily without making the jumps from one to another brisk.

Acting **1/2

Acting continues to suffer, with the simplest of movements like head nods looking exaggerated.

Visuals ***

The capturing of dance sequence could be done better but other than that, the cinematography is okay.

Soundtrack ****

It still remains one of the strongpoints of the show, enhancing each scene with appropriate background tunes. The song from Kriya’s iPod works really well for the dance.

Choreography ***1/2

Despite it being just another practice session, Rey and Sharon’s dance sequence is fairly well choreographed. The lifts blend effortlessly with the other steps.

Overall rating –3.5/5

Word/s of the Day :

Behenji – Dazzlings use it to insult Kriya, because of her old-fashioned ways.

Jhalli – Kriya calls the Dazzlings that at first, then the other Weaklings, and finally herself. smiley36

Dialog of the Day :

“We’ve got the Thing, we’ve got the Bling; We have it all, we’re the Dazzlings” – Simmi’s chant for Dazzlings (As Nil’s future partner, how can Simmi resist the urge to make a little rhyme?! smiley2)

Scene of the Day :

Kriya and Neha’s scene in the locker room where Kriya lightly teases Neha for her poor geography and Neha admits that it’s her first time doing something risky (like breaking open others lockers) and she is only doing it for Kriya. Their interaction makes us forget that their friendship is merely a few hours old!

Kriya and Neha in locker room

Blooper of the Day :

Rey saying he picked up the iPod because he thought it belonged to Simmi while he thought in the last episode that it must be a gift for him. Neither explanation really fits and Rey is left floundering for words.

Theme of the Day :

Dil / Dosti / Dance – Dance

Episode 4

Dil Dostii Dance – Episode 5 (19th April 2011)

The Tragic Tale of the Snubbed Mummy

Written Update :

While arranging her new room, Kriya cribs to her mother about her first day of college and the harassment she faced. Smriti tries to encourage her by sharing her own experiences of facing ragging during her college life and predicts that those harassing her now will end up being her best friends later. Upon learning that Kriya was unable to attend any classes that day, her mom asks her to not lose hope and follow her dreams for which she has come all this way. Feeling rejuvenated after this conversation, Kriya affirms that she will go to her class the next day.

The next day dawns with some Dazzling boys throwing a drink at Kriya’s face and mocking her for being a Weakling. Sharon has made a plan to torment Kriya and as a part of it, Nil (while disguised) leads Kriya to the third floor when she is looking for her classroom. In that classroom, all the students are in on this plan and so, they quickly change into fancy dress costumes.

Upon entering, Kriya is left confused as to why everyone is dressed this way. She fails to recognize Sharon and the rest of the Dazzlings due to their costumes, and is falsely guided by them to think that their Literature teacher has instructed them to dress up this way as an individual exercise. They make her sit in a broken chair and when she falls down, Sharon asks for a first-aid box. Then she suggests using the bandages to dress Kriya up as an Egyptian mummy who unknowingly falls right into the trap. Once they have covered her up in bandages from head to toe such that she can’t see anything either, they make her sit in the front row while quickly starting to remove their own costumes to change back to their usual clothes.

Rey enters right then and is similarly baffled about the goings-on, but Sharon manages to silence his queries just as Professor Gupta enters the class. He is shocked on seeing a mummy sitting in his classroom and scolds Kriya, assuming it to be a prank. When the bandages from her face are removed, Kriya turns to find out that it was all a ploy and she is the only one in the classroom who is dressed up this way. Sharon winks at her even as the whole class laughs at her plight. Kriya runs away from the class in distress but when Rey tries to follow her, Professor Gupta instructs him to sit back in his chair and demands the rest of the students to maintain silence.

On the other side, Kriya runs away from the class to go into the rehearsal hall where she removes the bandages and breaks down crying. She complaints to the portrait of Gautam Rai Prakash about how the people in this big city are mean and don’t value goodness. The rehearsal hall lights up and Kriya finds a group of Dazzling girls including Simmi and Rinni who mock her again for entering the rehearsal hall without permission. They taunt her about considering sir Gautam Rai Prakash as her mentor while hating Sharon, who they reveal to be his daughter.

Episode Rating :

Plot ****

The scenes are paced well and the story is moving forward at a good speed, with more of the main plot starting to get revealed.

Screenplay and Dialogs ****

The dialogs are a bit too dramatic but the screenplay is on point.

Acting ***1/2

The acting is better than the last couple of episodes, mainly because of a long scene dedicated to Tarana. But even the rest of the cast performs well, especially Sneha and Macedon.

Visuals ***1/2

The cinematography sees a boost and the visuals of this episode are far more appealing than the previous ones.

Soundtrack ***1/2

While there is nothing new to note in the music, it still binds the scenes cohesively while adding some extra zing where required.

Choreography N/A

Overall rating – 3.7/5

Word of the Day :

Meow – Sharon is dressed up as Cat and keeps mewing in different tones to get her point across.

Dialog/s of the Day :

“Bechari Bebas Bakri Bhatak rahi hai” – Nil’s alliterative sentence when he sees Kriya wandering around the corridor looking for her classroom.

“Do you know who Sharon is? Tumhare mentor, sir Gautam Rai Prakash ki beti. Sharon, she is the Sharon… Sharon Gautam Rai Prakash.” – The big reveal… said by Simmi with all the drama of an Ekta Kapoor serial. The only thing lacking was perhaps Kriya turning her head around 3 times. smiley36

Scene of the Day :

A quick dress change makes Nil almost unrecognizable as he goes from a cool rapper to a nerdy chashmish. The short glimpse leaves one kinda craving to see him in this sidha-sadha avatar again. smiley16> smiley23

Nil's look change

Blooper of the Day :

Rinni was in the classroom with Kriya, and since Professor Gupta wouldn’t allow Rey to leave the class midway, it’s highly unlikely he would allow Rinni either. So how did she end up in the rehearsal hall? Hmm... asked for a bathroom break perhaps?

Rinni in class and rehearsal hall

I had no idea about this smiley3. I did wonder why they abandoned this storyline but I thought it was initially because of Shakti's exit and later perhaps Tarana didn't want to come back when Shakti returned.

So, who was this actor then? I didn't even know his name.. now I'm wishing I had done some kinda introductory post on him too... maybe I'll add it in the next episode analysis...
